John McCain isn’t boasting about a new endorsement, one of the very, very few he has received from overseas. It came a few days ago: “Al Qaeda will have to support McCain in the coming election,” read a commentary on a password-protected Islamist Web site that is closely linked to Al Qaeda and often disseminates the group’s propaganda.

Yet the endorsement of Mr. McCain by a Qaeda-affiliated Web site isn’t a surprise to security specialists. Richard Clarke, the former White House counterterrorism director, and Joseph Nye, the former chairman of the National Intelligence Council, have both suggested that Al Qaeda prefers Mr. McCain and might even try to use terror attacks in the coming days to tip the election to him.

“From their perspective, a continuation of Bush policies is best for recruiting,” said Professor Nye, adding that Mr. McCain is far more likely to continue those policies.

Yet more calls for a new terrorist attack to get McCain in office. It is kind of crazy when the likes of Richard Clarke and Joseph Nye are saying that they wouldn't be surprised if a terrorist attack happens. How about that for flaunting it in our faces? So now that they say how it would benefit Al Qaeda recruiting, they can't possibly be responsible for it right? Despite the fact that it would be much more beneficial for the McCain camp?

I really, truly hope that this is just talk and we get through this election relatively unscathed.

Edit: I butchered the EX tags.

I know what you are saying. I have a hard time trusting anything these days and articles like this only go to confirm my suspicions. This feels like double or triple reverse psychology. It is bordering on comical now and I could probably laugh about it if it weren't for the fact that lives really do hang in the balance here.

Well, once again you've been suckered by the left wing propaganda media. Tell me something Karlhungis, which AQ member claimed they endorse McCain? I ask, because the NYT is citing an internet post. Some guy posted this on the internet and they are claiming its AQ. I wonder how they confirmed that?

You realize thats like Fox News taking one of your posts on here and claiming you speak for a terrorist group?

Lets see here is why Al Q likes Bush/McCain. They attack us on 9/11 and mess us up. In reprisal we attack Iraq and bankrupt our country. Yup Id say McCain would be a good choice if I were Al Q.

But it's true. Well, actually, all of them, not just under 55. That's what happens when you invade and kill thousands of innocent civillians. You kill an 6 year old little girl, her family joins AQ. You do that 100,000 times and you have million new members to AQ. And if you invade Iran to slaughter more civillians like McCain has promised you'll only push more people to AQ.

Okay so who is promising an invasion of Iran? This is the first I've heard of it as a campaign promise. I've heard Obama make the statement several times "Iran must not get the bomb". In fact, wasn't it Obama who said that Iran was "a grave threat" and that "No options were off the table" as far as Iran was concerned?

You have just as much to worry about from Iran with an Obama presidency as you do with McCain, except you also have Biden's statement to contend with that Obama will be tested within the first six months of his administration. An Iranian strike on Israel is certainly possible, as is a strike from Pakistan on India or a Russian invasion of the Ukraine - just to see how Mr. "I'll meet them without pre-conditions" will handle it.

One line. Bomb Bomb Bomb, Bomb Bomb Iran.

That's the best you've got??? A joke that McCain was singing in the company of veterans?

McCain responded, and he didn't apologize.

Like he said, "if you don't like what I said, too bad. You need to lighten up". His real policy on Iran is quite a bit different.
