It only makes sense that Paulson/Goldman Sachs would get their share. After all Cheney/Halliburton got their no-bid billions in Iraq, Rumsfeld/Gilead got their cut using the birdflu scare so the government could stockpile mass quantities of Tamiflu. The Bush's got some of their cut through their Carlyle defense contractor holdings (which did great with years of constant war), and the list goes on and on for all of the loyal cronies.

I only hope the nation can eventually recover from the bilking this dismal administration has put us taxpayers through.

Implying, the basic infrastructure & money generating architecture is sound,
and there was just a momentary anomaly of too many fraudsters at-one-time which created this temporary abberation of the banks & economic activities.

the fixes, by GoldmanSachs & the other accounting firms to a lesser extent is going to take less time than expected...
partially because of the +$70bn in bonus pool monies have been guaranteed to the large staff of employees working at the Firms (the same firms which generated the toxic-asset problems)

the PTB, explain that we must recapitalize the system, or the result will be worse than a temporary market decline.
So, we are told that a dry turd under our nose is way better than wet cow-patties on our heads....Some choice, eh?

I don't understand why no one is doing anything about this. Our senators are standing by letting this happen...

Actually, the senators and Congression Representatives aren't just standing by, they are actively part of this theft of democracy.
They are all guilty of treason, with the exception of a few brave ones like Ron Paul who oppose them at every step.

It's hopeless, you just can't control those people, can you?

Some say that pitchforks are an effective means of control of the crooks.

I agree, but at the moment, it seems America is putting a new set of bastards in power. Only the names and faces change. Underneath, they are all the same.

Stars for you on that one.. Ron Paul may be out of the race but if we elect Chuck Baldwin, Baldwin said hed put Ron Paul as head of the treasury.. If thathappened the establishment and the federal reserve would crap bricks, they would be done for.. ron paul would expose every misstep of the treasury and fight to get the federal reserve shut down.. and that my freinds is whats causing this entire economic problem a organization that messes with economics through money injections and interest rate price fixing.

Think about this the federal reserve came into power in 1913, they killed the economy by the 30's, did it again in the 70's and 80's and now 2008.

And across the pond they have the same thing , the bank of England.. you know the Euro, a cross country currency that they all use..

This bill handed power to the fed reserve that they wanted, now they almost have complete control of our economy.. they will trash the economy then present us with the "fix" and new currency.. This is how it always happens they create the problem and come in with the fix.. the fix only fixes the issues they have wit the economy not the real issues of a fiat currency.

Two things could be done easily to take back control of our country from the corporate owned politic and the central banking elite, and restore the Preample to our Constitution.

One is to pass the
National Initiative for Democracy.

The National Initiative for Democracy (NI4D) is a proposal which will permit the People to make or change laws by initiative. Several states already have this power for state amendments. Originally created & introduced to Congress by Alaskan Senator Mike Gravel in the 1980's. It has been continually refined to it's present form and supported by several organizations. Ralph Nader believes it may be the only way we can ever hope to have a "voice" in our Democracy, and not only be heard by our representatives, but have our will obeyed. The current Bank manipulated economic meltdown clearly demonstrated that we can and will be ignored over the "money lenders" who, in reality, rule most of the world.

The second, and probably the most important thing we can do, is to reform our money=debt economic system. A system controlled by the central banks of the world, and with the sole intention of creating bubble then collapse, over and over, stealing more wealth and property with each "business cycle", until (and we are very close) they have such an influence over commerce, that all Humanity will be slave to them.

Since 1913, with the passage of the Federal Reserve Act, signed by President Woodrow Wilson (much to his later regret), the United States Treasury officially privatized the printing & issuance of our currency. Currency that is distributed as "debt", or a loan if you prefer. That's why we have a National Debt.

To better understand this really ingenious & simple strategy used by bankers since they evolved from the goldsmiths of our distant past, visit The Money Masters. There you can learn about the best kept secret of all modern history and read a proposed Monetary Reform Act that was endorsed by none other than Dr. Milton Friedman, a man whom I have personally cursed since President Reagan began his foray into "trickle-down" economics. I've come to realize, the Neoconservatives who are the "point" of this deadly spear, they are still mere salves like the rest of us. The bankers who are ultimately in charge are not wholly known, and it is their secrecy that results in stories of the Illuminarti & the like. However, legend & theory aside, these men & women(?) are real, and must be stopped. --- PatriotRebel

A much better thing would be to have direct citizen recall of *all* federal politicians. If such a system were in place, the electorate could have removed Bush and Cheney from office after the Democrats refused to do their duty.

We also need strict two term limits (zero retirement benefits) for all federal politicians.

I agree. In fact, I had proposed that on the new thread that I created to enlist ideas for a call to action.
I would even go further though. I would limit the terms to one, including the Senate and the House. With 310,000,000 people, I don't think the old argument that we couldn't get 535 people to run every 2/6 years holds water any more.
