read the entire speech before you jump to conclusions. Bush was taken out of context.

Honorable goal..

Hidden secret agenda..

Minorities would have had higher interest rates, low LTV and been more likely to foreclose. If a family pays for 5-10 years and forecloses, the Bank will profit off interest, and selling the house at market value for the equity..

My opinion anyways. Did not really come back and get them either, because we simply bailed them out for the abuse they wrought unto innocent people.

Are you people that ignorant. Listen carefully to the recording and you will find that someone just took a bunch of Bush's sentences and linked them together to make it seem he said these things. LISTEN and you will notice the breaks and pauses and different tones........this was obviously done by the far Left to take the heat off of themselves for getting us into this financial disaster.

Yeah right, after Katrina, do you actually believe that Bush gives a crap about minorities and the poor. Bush knew this type of policy would benefit the rich. This is the only reason he supported this initiative. This type of nationwide policy essentially propped up home values, increased short term profits through higher interest rates and essentially, helped the rich stay rich. However, he could have also done this because he knew that it would ultimately lead to the crisis we are in today.

I know many people here on ATS believe that this crisis was engineered. This video definitely supports that theory. I mean come on, again, do you really believe, after his track record, that Bush ever gave a s*** about the poor???

Oh hell NO!! Bush knew?!? Are you mad?!? Bush don't know his ass hole from his elbow!! Bush was told to do something, and like a good little boy, he did it, IMO, he has no idea what has gone on, to me, he looks utterly bewildered about what has happened.

Don't get me wrong, he's as guilty as the rest of them, he did the things he was asked, to make money and consolidate his own power, he just didn't have the foresight to see he was obviously being manipulated, for other people'e end's, even if it was daddy's friends.

I agree with you on everything except 'Bush knew'.

Bush is many things.. stupid is not one of them.

There is a difference between being stupid, and being a bad public speaker. I cannot speak in public, never could.. wouldn't say that reflects my intelligence... and for a President to become President and to be such a poor speaker.. lol .. well.. actually kind of amazing.

But just remember this..

The man who can convince the world he is a moron and acts a genius away from prying eyes has fooled the world and shown us just how gullible and ignorant we really are.

I did think about that one, but personally, I think Snr pulls the strings, although I may be wrong of course.

reply to Rockpuck:

I have thought about him playing dumb alot and I agree that he may do this sometimes, sort of a false sense of security type thing, yet I doubt he has the brains to pull off this scheme, although, he defintely has the ambition.

Again, could be wrong.

MidnightBrigade, yours is one of the best written personal testimonies I've
read here in on ATS. Thank-you for it!

The bottom line is that each of us is responsible for our happiness or
miserableness in life. At the end, when we look back, who the President
was in any given year won't matter one hoot. Either we "did good", or
we wasted the precious years that were granted to us. It's a shame that
most people aren't content with charting their own happiness and destiny
like you are. Continued success to you! -cwm

If your poor you cant pay for collage and education fees, what kinda stupid thing is that to say, have some consideration..

Let me get this straight, your blaiming the poor for the economic collapse, use your head man..

Your joshing me right..."Can't pay for college"? At the risk of sounding like a racist/biggot...the poor around my area are as a majority African American, Mexican, un-wed mothers, unemployed Native Americans, etc. These groups of individuals get all the college they want thrown at them...for free. I have paid for every single hour of college I have(after the age of 19 when I stopped playing football). I cannot afford college right now...but then again I make enough money that my wife does not have to work...she takes care of our 3 children, and is pregnant currently! I'm not too concerned.

If I were black, left-handed or female I could go to college on a free ride, but because I am a free white working able bodied man..."No soup for you"...

Statements like this enfuriate me..."can't pay for college", moreso can't get off the couch in the projects, put down the race/oppresion card long enough to pick up a brochure, and stop bitching about how bad it is because of how bad it was to make a phone call...from a $.99 a month phone!!! Got to be #ting me!!!

Wow....so much to say

To carewemust: Thank you for the support and praise.
I appreciate that.

To subversive_populous: Thank you for the support and I'm proud of you for doing what you can to make your situation better. People like us are few and far between when you look at where we came from.

To moocowman: I apologize if you took offense to my post. Fair enough. I will say that just the fact that you can get mad, calm down, and post constructively is a great sign of intelligence, college or not. We might have had differing opinions, but I enjoyed your post. I might just add you to my foes list, for keeping me on my toes

To toolfanmael: I'm 26, my resume is on Monster.com if you'd like to look at it, and 4 years of relevant work experience has trumped my lack of college education many times. You should go check it out

To daddymax: I agree. It would seem that one of the few minorities that don't receive anything are white males under 40. We should unionize

So what is going on now was all planned before. I don't want to hear "Bush is stupid he could not have planned it". A stupid man does not get to be president of the USA, and if he does that means he is not really in charge.

but lets be real about this too...the only reason he was going on about this is because the super freakin poor wanted what the "fat cats" in the next class had. and instead of working for it, they wanted to just get it. they start whining...and (this is the kicker) THEY GOT IT! You see, this is the problem with politicians pandering to all groups. You cant fix everyone...sometimes they have to get out and oh...(Gasp!) FIX THEIR OWN DAMN PROBLEMS!!! God damn I am so sick of the poor whining about being poor...GET AN EDUCATION, GET A JOB...PLAY THE SYSTEM...GET OUT OF THE FREAKING GHETTO!!!!
but no...they do this kind of crap...put themselves in houses they cant afford and end up helping to screw the economy for all of us. grrrrr

one of the foreclosure stories I've heard went something like this...
a single mom of two or three kids was making $10/hr. she wanted to buy a house, and well.....she got the loan for a $450,000 house!

I remember when my kids were little, there were times when my husband made only $10/hr....we couldn't afford the flipping hud subsidized housing (we didn't qualify for the hud) let alone a $450,000 house....
but, well...let's see....
$10/hr job is "poor"???
so, what's the hourly wage of the non-poor?? just wondering...
the real problem isn't that these "poor" people were given mortgages that they are defaulting on. it's that we've allowed the cost of living to rise so badly that earning $10/hr is now considered "poor"!
alot of people go through college, work their butts off, do their best, and still end up "poor"!!
either get the wages in line with the cost of living, or the cost of living in line with the wages! God!! There is no way in an actually free market where a family making $8 or $9 an hour can live better than someone making $10 or $11, but that's what we've had in this country for awhile now. and it's the actual "poor" being exploited by these types of gov't sponsered scams, it's those families out there that aren't considered "poor" by government standards but still can't meet the needs of their families. what the heck, they are basically in a no win situation. they can either go backwards financially and arrange to have less income, or they are screwed, going without healthcare, living in substandard, non-hud certifiable housing, unable to heat their homes in the winter, and well...trying to feed a family on $30-$40 dollars a week.
THEY ARE PLAYING THE SYSTEM!! the system just isn't playing fairly, and THIS IS NOT A FREE MARKET, HASN'T BEEN IN A LONG TIME!
either just turn the danged thing into a socialist regime, or turn it back into a purely free market where the government isn't handing out billions upon billions to the "poor" and to their business buddies! but, knock if off with these types of scams that serve just to produce an illusion of prosperity that quickly fades at a moment's notice!

I totally agree with you there...the cost of living is waaaay out of line. But us knowing that, why in the hell would the person with ANY decent sense buy a 450,000 dollar house when they only make $10.00 an hour? That's just plain #ing stupid. If that's all you spend your money on then yea, you can make it but if this chick has a family of 4 and she agreed to that... God I want to say she deserves to get her house repo'd but that's part of what causes this crisis anyway.

As far as getting the economy in line, how about we tell the govt. to stop increasing the minimum wage and instead start placing price caps on things.

And before the argument starts about minimum wage, my feelings are this: If we increase min wage from 5 to 7$ (which we have) all that does is make corporations increase their prices to cover the new loss. So I go to McDonalds, and pay a buck for a burger off the dollar menu. Well, now Micky D's has less profit off that burger because joe the meat flipper makes 7 bucks an hour now instead of 5. Well suddenly that sawdust burger is on the 3 dollar menu. Now if Joe wants to buy his own burger (baring employee discount) he pays 2 dollars more, which is no skin to him because that's exactly what he got increased. He sees no difference. Me on the other hand, I don't make minimum wage so it makes it harder for me to buy a freakin cheeseburger...that's the danger of being lower and mid middle class. Upper class don't care cause they own the McDonalds and eat free anyway

But whatever...I'm an ordained minister so I'm gonna creat a tax free "church" out in the woods and grow my own shizzle

I hate Bush - with a passion.

That said, this would suggest that the start of this mess was indeed done with the best intentions from Government. The problem was with regulation - and no conservative political party would EVER choose regulation over the financial industry through choice!

The REAL villains are thos ein charge of these big banks and, I'm sad to say for once, not Bush...

I agree with your ideas... and gave you a star.

I believe that Bush is very intelligent, perhaps a little too intelligent and he missed that he was playing a part in the scheme, instead believing he was running the scheme.

To me, he looks very bewildered at how things turned out. He looks as if he has aged a few decades in the past few months. He is definitely not the go-lucky-party guy that he was back in 2000. I think he is catching on that he was swindled, too.

So the poor cannot get their arses over to a library and read? The poor cannot afford to walk to a library and LEARN!?!?!

The poor cannot afford to get a job, and learn how to save money? The poor cannot save up their income instead of buying cigarettes and booze?

GET real!

The poor, if they wanted, would learn, just as the rest of us have had to. Learn from the past... stop the lines of credit, stop the easy rides and get out and work for it. I had to, and I WAS poor. I was on a very low income at one time, and I worked my arse off for what I have now. A great house, a great business, and a good income.

Why should that be so impossible for someone else from a poor background to do?

It's not as easy as getting an education and playing the system. An education costs money and requires time that not everyone has because they have to work in order to survive. While there are some out there who don't want to work for #, there are also many people who cannot escape the class struggles and power structures, that you apparently don't eve realize are at work, in order to get ahead.
