schools have too much power

recently some of my friends all wore the same shirt to school with Daffy Duck (A Warner Bros character) and about ten people had them. Well their is this girl who gets made fun of for looking like a duck and she went to the dean and told them the shirt offended her so everyone who was wearing the shirt had to take it off and three of the kids who distributed them got suspended for 5 days. Am I the only one who thinks this is ridiculous I mean if I go up to a teacher or principal and say their shirt offends me will they have to take theirs off and why should schools be allowed to take away our rigths anyway. This is all 12th grade students by the way

Schools do not have too much power. Sometimes I don't think that they have enough power.

I do not think that the students should have had to remove the shirts, that was wrong. The girl who complained should have been told to ignore the shirts and could have been talked to by the administration in that the shirts were not referring to her in any way.

Unless they were...

But I doubt that anyone wore the shirts just becuase the girl looks like a duck... If you would have worn big bird shirts i'm sure there would have been people who thought you were making fun of them too,....

School's have too much power? You try going to Catholic Private School like I did with a bunch of NUNS. Then you'll know the meaning of too much power.

I really hope that you guys had another purpose for wearing those shirts other than to tease someone.

While I know your just a youngster & will probably grow out of that type of behavior. Just keep in mind people that behave that way all their lives are what we call sociopaths and we have prisons full of them.

okay fine then I will just wear plain whihte t-shirts from now on so I wont offend anybody. I will never express my self again in any way again because people dont know how to ignore things they dont like

the point is if a saw one of you on the street and you had a shirt with a picture of a shrimp or something on it and I said to take it off because that offends me(I get made fun of for being short) you would just walk away but if it were in school you would be forced to take it off or suspened
