I live in Oklahoma a lot of people are firing off fireworks in October. I was curious if anyone knew why?

My guess is College football games.

Whereabouts in OK are you? is a local team winning or something?

I remember a time when I could afford fantastic and beutiful fireworks. We can get things down here with a 1000g payload, and more, but regrettfully, they have become too costly, especially in light of difficult economic times, and for myself personally, not wishing to purchase Chinese goods.

Now, what's interesting to me is that a cursory google of Oklahoma fireworks seems to indicate that there are only two periods in the year in this state in which fireworks are sold [legally], -- arranged around Independence Day and Christmas, so a flurry of fireworks activity at this time would seem unusual.

....... which is a windbag way of saying... I don't know.

Yah, I was stationed at Tinker AFB in OKC for about 3 years, and Fireworks are kinda regulated pretty strictly.

I am just thinking that maybe the OP is close to Norman, Tulsa or any of the other colleges that may be setting off fireworks after touchdowns or something.

I don't know... it was just a thought.

maybe there's been a big wedding celebration in the area? or hindus gettin excited about diwali, I know where I live there is a big hindu community and they've been going mad with the fireworks for the past week or so. I know diwali isnt for a couple of weeks yet but they might be trying their new toys out.

Weird this is being brought up. Last weekend, there were fireworks going off for nearly thirty minutes here. I have no reason why. Could have been leftovers from the fourth I suppose.

Well, I have an update. I spoke with a local sheriff's deputy I know. He said, "It was a group of Hispanics." When asked what they celebrating they stated, "socialist revolutions."

No BS. This makes sense, and is frightening at the same time.
