'Jesus Fish' in my post

Topic started on 18-10-2008 @ 04:27 PM by TruthParadox

So I was looking at a thread I'm participating in, and I went back a page to see what exactly I had said in one of my posts, and staring right back at me was a 'Jesus Fish'. It was right above the external source quote where it usually says "Content from external source". I knew I hadn't posted it so I thought maybe a mod had added it but when I looked at my post, it had not been edited. So I right clicked the image and copied the link and it gave me: files.abovetopsecret.com...
So I went there, and it was the usual "Content from external source" image.
So at that point I was really confused and I reloaded the page to find that the Jesus Fish had vanished and everything was normal.
It looked like the Christian logo except it was stretched out and pixelated and was black and white.
Is this some kind of ATS thing that I'm not aware of?
Or is it a sign from God? (lol)
If it's a problem with my computer then it's a very strange problem... I've never heard of anything like it.
Anyone know what's up?

I'd have to say "sign from God"

Or maybe the aliens, or the future. Someone more technologically advanced than me, anyway.

I've had those graphics fail to load and seen the little "broken graphic" symbol. But no Jesus fishies.

I think I may know what happened...
I have dial up, so sometimes an image will load half way and look pixelated.
In the external.png image, it has a c and an x in the lettering, and looking back on it, it looked like cx except with no space and enlongated with no other letters...
I have no idea why it would do this, but I guess it just loaded half way and 'messed up' in the rendering of the image.
Still... what are the odds that it would look exactly like that darn fish... and even stranger in a thread about God.

I'm so sorry, TP! The fishie in my signature is misbehaving again. I'll tell it to leave you alone. It probably won't listen to me but I can at least try. It's kind of a prankster. Last night it surprised me in the bath.

Seriously, though. That is weird. Maybe your eyes were playing tricks on you.

No, that's not possible. I should have taken a screenshot though.
Darnit, now I'll never be able to ask someone why they didn't take a picture to support their claims as that would make me a hypocrite .
I'm thinking now though that it was just one of those freaky "I see Elvis in my waffles!" incidents.

Ok, I confess. I hacked the site and am trying to subliminally convert you all to Christianity.

Seriously- if it was skewed and pixelated, that could mean someone swapped out the image at the source and the link was messed up somehow. However, that still makes no sense for it to be an ithcus. I could understand the ATS logo, an off topic tag, or some other ATS graphic taking its place but an ithcus is definitely a mystery. I'm curious about this and hoping an admin or owner replies to this.

So here I am a few days later, thinking I'd never see that devious fish again, when all of a sudden, out of the blue...

Strange, eh?
I smell a Christian conspiracy...

I'm so glad you got a screenshot this time

It looks like the graphic tried to stretch out across the whole table column but only actually showed the width that it was supposed to. So you've got reeeeeeeeally long "C" and half a lower-case "o"

But dang if it doesn't look just like a Jesus fish.

No, it's a Jesus fish. Look at the properties:

files.abovetopsecret.com...

OP:

Can you reproduce it at will? Is it something like that "Your IP is ...." prank that goes around from lavasoft?

Yeah, I was thinking something like that but your description sounds much better than mine.
Case solved.

I have dial up, so whenever I'm loading a bunch of things at once, sometimes a picture will load halfway and then stretch to fit the original dimensions. This usually doesn't happen, but whenever the cache is cleared on my pc, it has to load the image all over again. So it took the image that says "Content from external source" and only loaded part of the image and then stretched it so I only saw a stretch Co and half of the o is cut off so it looks like a Jesus fish .
What are the odds of that...
