Since John McCain was the sponsor of the Immigration Reform Act in 2006, does that mean he'll try to re-instate that act or something similar if he becomes President?

For those that don't know about the Immigration Reform Act, here are some videos about McCain's bill.

And some articles commenting on the bill.

McCain Still Haunted by Illegal Alien Issue

America Doomed

National Review

Is this thing dead, or could McCain resurrect it?

All that I can say, is if anyone believes Senator McCain will be lenient towards Illegal Immigrants, just imagine what Senator Obama's stance will be. At least with Senator McCain you have a core Conservative Vice-President, and a Republican base from which the pressure to reform the Illegal Immigration issue can be thrust forth. Senator Obama will run more or less along the lines of Representative Pelosi and Senator Reid.

Senator McCain also said that before we even begin worrying about who should be allowed a "Path towards Citizenship", he WILL Secure our Border. Senator Obama never mentioned this until a few weeks ago when he decided to copy Senator McCain's policy stance. However, at the same time, Senator Obama essentially labelled our ICE Agents as "Terrorists" at a La Raza forum.

Either way, Senator McCain will be stronger in regards to Illegal Immigration than Senator Obama ever will.
