I just read the link to Karl's post. GE.....going under? How could this happen and if it does how soon would we see the wiriting on the wall. At what point would you be able to say, "yup, that's it GE is done for."?

Oh, nice. I guess obama wants to be out of office before he has been in a year. What does Obama think is going to happen if the economy collapses? He is going to stay in power? Yea, fat chance of that.

It doesn't look we are going to have another ugly day like we did yesterday, but it is still to early to tell I saw the gains get wiped away earlier. That seems to be the reoccurring theme, everything seems to be making gains then somebody from the Fed or the Administration opens their mouth and it all goes to hell.

edit - spelling.

I'm watching now, his face wasn't on the screen for 30 seconds and the DOW lost 40 points before he could squeeze out even one sentence.

I am quite sure that your description of goldbugs is just as anecdotal as mine. I do not know how many traders you deal with on a regular basis, either in person or via the internet, I know that I deal with thousands.

But hey, I am reachable here if you want to discuss it, rather than sidetrack this thread with it

Actually, my description of Goldbugs would be factual.

Sorry, but I don't consider pointing-out inaccuracies posted in this thread a sidetrack [deny ignorance files].

Thousands ? We do like superlatives don't we. In what capacity redhatty? Logging on to TF?

I trade PM's & flip mining shares for a living. Glad to debate you on anything Gold redhatty.

The individuals you attempt to describe as Goldbugs sound more like inexperienced equities traders that jumped into a long ETF position with stars in their eyes. No protective stops...and most likely, no exit strategy even if they were to show a profit. Not the stuff "if you don't hold it - you don't own it" types are made of my friend.

When you have contracts for 5.2 MILLION SHARES betting on GE going to $2.20, I have to ask, Just how big do you need that writing on the wall to be?

Here's a good link to read to get a grasp of the leveraging problem behind GE

I got Ford Motor Co. says its US sales fell 48 percent in February.

Your quote sounds better, can I keep it LOL

Not that Ford dropping was a surprise, other Auto makers reporting later today - pretty much all priced in though

Dow and NASDAQ back in the green, waiting for S&P to follow

But, Senate hearings continue in a bit, I guess much will depend on the testimony.

The pits have quieted down from the massive roar of earlier

Grrrrr.... Fed Eliminates Compensation Limits for TALF Sponsors. The timing of that release was well done, AFTER BB testified

Oh that's sneeky as hell...

The revised terms and conditions of the TALF, posted on the New York Fed’s Web site, also omitted a previous section on compensation requirements.
---------
The Fed and Treasury didn’t include the change on executive compensation in a news release today. It was included on page 15 of the “Frequently Asked Questions.”

Marvelous...great...fantastic...

Not to push this thread back to gold but I have heard a nasty rumor about gold this week. Sure, this is a conspiracy site so normally I'd just post it as a new thread but I'd rather not fuel the rumor at this stage if it is false. Not to mention the fact that since this is just a rumor, I don't have a good source to cite. If you heard the rumor too, you would know what I am talking about.

Anybody else heard about it?

Hint: Fool's gold.
