Are you claiming you have a sure proof way of always generating a profit and beating the S&P with just a click of a button? Sounds hard to believe.

Well you could pay GBM to write you a program. Then GBM would have money to actually have his auto program trade for him. Then we would be more inclined to listen to him, as he would be making the profits while we are more cautious.

Hells, maybe I'll buy one from him to.

Hey, he could start a internet add campaign "Trade stocks while you sleep! Earn $2million a year, thousands a day while your fishing or spending time with your family! Just send me a check for $2,000 and you will be added to an exclusive list of subscribers to receive detailed stock picks from my Auto Trading Program!"

Ohh to bad that market is saturated.

I can beat the SP 500 by more than you could believe each year..

Look at the top hedge fund managers..

Making 180% every year year after year...

Its not because as I have said earlier - I am good at throwing darts..

Everything is based on math and % moves away from a standard deviation based on a major exponential moving avg (my method)

Many pro and inst. use the blackbox method I was referring to earlier with currencies, interest rates, metals, indicies.. etc..

As I have stated before I cant talk about my issues in a public forum as you know its against the rules talking about regulation d offerings and private placements.. Dont worry my results will have me laughing all the way to the bank very soon.. your comments are laughable if you are somehow inferring that my programming is amateur.

Nonsense. I was only insinuating that your programming was fictitious. I would never consider your work to be that of an amateur, mate.

The top hedge fund managers make like 30-40% every year. Which is still impressive nonetheless, but not 180%. Isn't a blackbox method just formulas/algorithms that are pre baked into the computer that buys/sells because of that? Like an algorithm saying:

Sell short Gold when Fed Funds Rate Target hits 2.5%

EDIT: you are quoting %'s after fees associated mostly upwards of 50%

[edit on 2-7-2009 by GreenBicMan]

I've heard of him and think he is fascinating so I read up on him again on wikipedia:

In a statement released to shareholders, the fund announced it had sustained losses of up to 7% in the wake of the 2007 Subprime mortgage financial crisis but managed to end the month of August with a positive performance of +0.7%

Also 2008 was a "less than stellar year" for Renaissance Technologies.

This just demonstrates that it isn't sure proof.

The bad news to anyone reading is that the fund is pretty much limited to only former and current Renaissance employees. Simons other funds, which are open to other investors, were both down in '08. In terms of recent performance, we saw that their Institutional Equities Fund was -4.61% for February and -8.84% for 2009 at that time, as mentioned in our January & February hedge fund performance post. www.marketfolly.com...&D

www.marketfolly.com...

Though like I've said, I am very interested in automated trading. Though...also like I have said. I am unwilling to buy software/hardware/programmers because this is just a hobby. I also abhorred C++ in college. Bleh

I question everything you say because, aside from being pompous in your manor, your insolence is only magnificently magnified by the fact that you look down on everyone else here. Those who do trade. With real money. Who know real economics.

My input, before I put you back on ignore, is that your a fake. All the way back when you first started on the thread, I said there's just something not right about you..

Perhaps I think I'm above the game, but unlike you, who trades from his fathers house with fake money I have earned the right over you. I hold your views and lies with disdain, I have nothing more to say to the likes of you.

PS. Your post with "proof" proved nothing.

And on the job front,

Economy Sheds 467,000 Jobs; Unemployment Rate at 9.5%

Employers cut 467,000 jobs in June, far more than expected, while the unemployment rate rose to 9.5 percent, the government said on Thursday in a report that showed a labor market continuing to struggle with a deep recession.

The June job losses were more than 100,000 greater than the 363,000 consensus of Wall Street economists polled by Reuters and broke a four-month trend of moderation in job losses.

Far more than expected, humm.

I guess not even this numbers can be sugar coated, but then again the government and analyst have been telling that is going to get worst by the end of the year when it comes to job loses, but that doesn't meant that the economy is doing bad or recuperating.
It can be signs of bottoming out.

Bill Gross from Pimco: Greed will come again after deleveraging and a generation.

www.cnbc.com...

Basically he says that the shock and deleveraging will keep this generation of consumers more in the fear camp than consuming/greed camp for a very long time.

This did happen after the Great Depression, but come on, this recession has not hit home the consumer like it did to the Great Depression...and many people lost their life savings not because of credit card debt but because banks failed. I think the consumer may have fundamentally changed marginally, but they haven't been hit head on to really shock them for life IMO. Malls are still full in South Florida, they are just buying less. But perhaps South Florida/Palm Beach is not representative of the overall country
