But Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, and other lawmakers have proposed the Federal Reserve assume the role of systemic regulator to monitor against the kinds of risks that plunged markets worldwide into distress last year.

Both Congress and the Obama administration are starting to craft their strategies for revamping a patchwork regulatory system that dates to the Civil War as they strive to prevent a repeat of the global crisis.
...Another "Blast of Hot Air"...ya'll Girls got any broken hair driers...?

Stop the press, if this government gives the Federal Reserve the power to take over regulatory system for the financial that is just cementing the role they have been doing for years.

What a crock Barney Frank is, after all he is the one that allowed for the littler dirty bonuses to be included in the bail out bill, after been lobbyed by the biggest crocks.

Darn fat rat he is all for money.

He and many other so call government officials needs to get their fat arses out of congress because of corruption he should not be allow to hold any position of power.

I hope that at least the Obama administration can come out with something else that doesn't include giving more powers to those bigger fat rats in the Federal Reserve.

Quite verbose this morning aren't we?

No, I was drunk like a Titanic captain . . .

Obviously, the banks have been afraid to lend each other, coz at that time no one knew who would bailed out and who would not, who would go under and who would stay afloat. By euthanizing Lehman, the Feds sent a nerve-wrecking message to the financiers. But Jack Daniels saw the reason for not lending in some fancy "financial instruments." Maybe Jack Daniels pays off his credit card debts with triple A bonds. The market "bottled" out . . .

Now how does this work? The message was out that the government has "monetized its debt." That would send the price of gold higher than the ashes of that Tonga volcano. But the opposite took place. I haven't seen so much contradictory statements regarding the market either. It's a see-saw out there . . .

You never fail to amuse me...thanks!

I'm actually training for a triathelon in Aug: family "team" with younger cousins and sisters so I'm bustin' butt.

Garden should be very helpful.

You are brilliant for posting this IMO...SO very pertinant and I think I "get" what you want us to notice but won't post so others can enjoy as well.

I think HE thinks he does as the character at the end is able to.

Also love the whispering about the "approval".

Thanks for the reply marg,I was curious.

Obamas to Plant Garden on White House Lawn

Can I just say this is most certainly a smart thing to do- given the people who have control in Monsanto and its GM seeds - also hold high office in his camp...
I think he needs to call out Monsanto and insist all food organic for those of us who don't have a yard to plant a healthy garden.
Just saying...
We all deserve safe food - and as it stands - he is still backing a very unsafe situation with Monsanto...
Come on Obama - do the right thing.

What turned me away from BHO during campaign was exactly the same "reactive" or "reflective" nature of his behavior.

He would say something, then there would be criticizing from the public, then he would retrace his words and correct himself.

This is exactly what he is doing now with this "bonus tax".

He has absolutely no initiative, he only runs from one stage to another and poses before cameras (remember where he was when he signed that "overnight" bailout bill with a three days delay? In Denver...

And same goes when he has to pick his aides...

Somebody else is doing his job as president.

What I don't understand is why the markets aren't reacting to the monetization of our debt. I would have thought the ripples of this would already be apparent.
On a side note; I think green bic man is REALLY the guy on the slap chop commercials.

Not reacting?

You didn't see the XLF/Financials today?

or Gold???

or DXY??

or TNX

or CNBC screaming at each other with fist-fights in the wings????

or Congress screaming at who-ever?

hhhmmm...

Congress is always screaming at each other; I switch off cnbc as soon as the bell rings, Yes, Gold has moved substantially, but I just expect(ed) the markets to react, hmm, MORE violently...?
And as far as reading the other signs? I'm such a novice that I get lost when I go there. Good thing I have nothing invested, eh?
