People really need to take a step back from it all and take a real hard look at politics and what / who they are presented with. Only by doing this can you come to realise that you are all being taken for suckers. All these "talking points" about what somebody said or who they are affiliated to are there by design to mask the fact that the candidates are completely clueless front men for the big money holders behind the scenes. When was the last time any one of these bozos actually did anything positive for the country of for the majority of the people? That is what should be the focus, not petty partisan bickering whipped up by the media talking heads whose bosses have a vested interest in the outcome.

Exactly, but when the average guy just asks a question, then it is my fight.

To me this is silencing freedom of speech through intimidation.

It has been noted that an average plumber does not make $250k a year.
So the "average" argument is a non-starter.

Average plumber income is $47k.

I think people fail to realize that this would be a company with employees, it could be quite possible for a owner of a plumbing company to make that much, which is not what he clears personally,

That's not the point buddha and you know it.

The media is trying to make this issue out to be about Joe in particular and it isn't.

The issue here is that his question exposed Obama for his socialist agenda. The issue is that we have a presidential campaign and the MSM personally attacking a private citizen who has done nothing wrong.

This is about the broader tax issue, not just Joe. Now it's also about a smear campaign aimed at a private, average American citizen.

Joe the Plumber does not make $250,000 a year. He asked what would happen if he went in to business for himself and bought a business that made $250,000 a year. He said he's worked hard and now wants to fulfill his dream.

He asked a simple question.

The answer he got was frightening.

The Nazi-esque response of Obama/Biden since then, to destroy the average guy Joe the Plumber, should be enough to scare every last sane person in this country.

Care to clarify the difference between "make" and "clear"?

Thanks.

It's ridiculous to claim that Joe's personal fulfillment hinges on difference between Obama's and McCain's plans.

He sure did. "spread the wealth around".

That's what this is about.

This man was able to get Obama to admit his socialist agenda, now the Obama camp and the MSM has to destroy this man to try and cover it up.

This won't work for them. It will backfire.

I think Obama's remark to Joe may go down in history as one of the truly stupid quotes in political history.

It's simple, not sure why people are having a difficult time with the basic concept.

He didn't say he makes 250.

He said he wants to buy a company that makes 250.

Get it?

And the Dems going after Joe is disgusting. How they can justify ruining a guys life simply because he asks a question is beyond me.

Who cares if his first name is Samuel and he goes by Joe? My brother goes by his middle name and one of my daughters does as well. Does that mean they should be destroyed?

Jemison

I didn't claim any such thing. But since you bring it up ...

Obama's socialism plan will destroy small business. It will destroy people wanting to be successful. WHY work harder if the money you earn will only be TAKEN away (and Biden did say that - TAKEN).

This is basic economics and basic psychology. If you take away the reason for people wanting to work harder - money - then they dont' work harder. If you reward those who don't work - then they are psychologically trained not to work.

Look at what Obama IS DOING to the guy now - and all he did was ask a question. He's trying to ruin his life. Joe the Plumber is being destroyed by our next POTUS ... and that POTUS hasn't even gotten his full powers yet. BE AFRAID. BE VERY VERY AFRAID.

(not that it matters - I'm not voting for Obama OR McCain)

Oh please... There are quite successful countries with tax schedules way beyond what Obama is proposing, and people there want and are successful.

Obama's plan is not socialist, but it is a step to put up a damper to runaway inequality that corrodes America from the inside.

Sounds socialist to me.

Runaway inequality? Please.

Obama wants us all to be equals. That's socialist.

Taking away the drive for people to succeed because they know their earnings will be stripped away and given to those who don't have that drive so that they can be equal. That's socialist.

There's nothing that isn't socialist about Obama's plans.

You don't like inequality? Work hard and make yourself equal, don't ask the government to do it.

Inequality - OVERTAXING those who actually work and are successful in order to REDISTRIBUTE it to those who don't pull their weight. That's inequality. Taking - YES TAKING - from those who work and giving it to those who don't.

Exactly right. Socialism at its purest.

And there is no denying this about Obama anymore. Thanks to Joe we've got Obama on record saying he wants to "spread the wealth around".

I just don't know how people can defend this.

Ah, reductio ad absurdum again. Please don't try to make it seem like people with lesser incomes don't work, that's just an insult to many workers, including the real "Joe Plumber" folks who make $47k, and not the fake plumbers with $250k in the bank.

Apparently this Joe the plumber guy , 1. is behind on taxes, doesn't even have a plumbers license and neither does his employer.. this guy is going to be ruined by these political games..

Why should a guy need a plumbers license.. any licensing to me is just wrong.. thus why I do my own electrical and plumbing etc..

But none the less this guy is going to be ruined by these political games now that hes being investigated by every media outlet out there, every agency that possibly exists..

Yet one more item of proof that we are slaves.. free range slaves, but slaves none the less.

You need a license so there is accountability if that person you hire screws you over. I am a licensed painting contractor. It is against the law for people in florida to hire unlicensed painters. There is good reason for this. First off, a unlicensed contractor cannot get insurance. Would you want to hire someone who is not insured to do work on your house. What happens if this person gets hurt or destroys something valuable in your house. For example. I was painting a house and before painting I pressured cleaned it. Well I had an empty gas canister that I accidently left behind by the air condition unit and pool pumps. Well the hot florida sun ignited the canister and detroyed that AC unit and pool pumps. Seeing I am a licensed insured contractor the homeowner was able to contact me and I was able to turn it into my insurance company. If I was unlicensed and uninsured she would have been screwed. Then there is the people who are unqualified/unlicensed that you hire and can do the work completly wrong. A licensed protects both the homeowner and the contractor. Next in my town many people in the trade business make way more then 250000 thousand dollars. Remeber small business dont necessarily mean you only have one or two employees. I know people who have a hundred employees, plumbing companies, mind you that make way over 1 million dollars. These companies have had to lay people off because of the economy. Now these are the companies that do most of the hiring. THe small businesses are responsible for 100% new hires while the major corporations are not hiring any new people. So Obama wants to tax these small business' that are actually the only people hiring right now. That is a plan for disaster. Then he wants to fine people if they dont offer insurance to their employees. That is going to do wonders for the economy. So I know "joes" all over my town. There are thousands, and 25000 is not a lot of money for these companies. Even in times like these.

You complain about 'insulting' people and yet there you are saying that plumbers who have worked hard, saved their hard earned money, and who want to buy their own plumbing business are 'fake plumbers'.

Pathetic.

That's not what is going on at all.

Having a lower income is not the same as not pulling your weight or feeding of the government.

People have the right in this country to do whatever job they wish and earn as much money as they can. What right does the government have to interfere with that? What right do they have to come in and say, "I'm sorry, you've made too much money, we are going to have to take some of that."?

With Obama's plan, the $47k plumbers will save MORE money to help them advance to proprietorship, which is good.
