Were we attacked?

What just happened?
Did we we get another malicious attack?

Or was it regular maintenance?
I must have stepped on the wrong side of the "load balancer" again.

This event was indeed a malicious scripted attack that found some creative ways around our (best practices) counter-measures in our search code. This is why the advanced search is temporarily disabled.

My cell phone started beeping like mad about 3:30 AM EST ... after the scripted attack had finally slowed down our database server.

I'm usually the one asking the question after a shutdown.
And it turns out it WAS a malicious attack.

Thanks. We know that ATS has become an important part of the daily routine for many people.

Also... I like to get this stuff cleared up quickly so I can have a life for a brief portion of the day.

Seems like this is becoming a common occurrence in the early morning hours. Always seems to be at the end of my shift here at work that ATS goes down. Any idea as to who is doing it, and why?

Those who would scheme to attack would certainly do research as to when is the appropriate time (like when Bill is normally sleeping). But thanks to very-loud cellphone ringers, no downtime goes unnoticed. (Actually, Mrs. Overlord elbowed me asking what that damn noise was)

SO can correct me if I'm wrong but the last time this happened was in the early hours of September 11th.

Maybe it's the same peeps.

Or maybe some GFL nerds got really pissed at us for winding them up and retaliated.

There is no doubt, because I have just recieved a communication from them, where they are parked, on the other side of the moon, waiting.

Waiting for the doubt to be erased before they come to us.

Wow, you know...that's the first time I've actually had no problems admitting you were human. I thought you were a superbeing with some kind of sixth sense.

I was curious about the party involved because I seem to recall that the last time this happened it involved some political group or something. I thought with last night being the debate, maybe it was the same group again.

I understand the call for "revenge", ATS means a lot to many people. That's not how we do things though:

2g.) Board Wars: You will not use these boards to organize "attacks" on other boards, blogs, or discussion groups, and similarly, you will not organize such attacks against this board.

Remember, this is ATS, we're better than that.
