Do I think its a crime for her to send a picture of herself to her boyfriend or friends. No, I don't. In fact, I will fight viciously with teeth and nails for children to not be exposed to facist witch hunts and to be respected for their new hormones and feelings of manhood or womanhood, and for parents to handle these matters discreetly. This kind of big brother isn't going to be accepted in my neck of the woods. Who is the victim of child pornography?
Children. Who is the victim in this crime? The children if the authorities proceed in prosecuting.

Maybe if she took pictures of her 12 year old sister/brother in explicite positions and posted them to porn sites etc. But, not for what she actually did in this case.

I really can't believe people can't see the difference.

So she could be in explicit positions herself, bent over the mirror?

You don't see that as child pornography?

Can you show me where it states that she did not do something like that, or are you just assuming that she took an innocent picture?

Edit: For decorum.

She had the same intent as a fully grown sexual predator or pusher of child porn does. To send out explicit material to others.

Here you go, I think you need to read this, because obviously you are just spewing bs out the your mouth.

The term sexual predator is used pejoratively to describe a person seen as obtaining or trying to obtain sexual contact with another person in a metaphorically "predatory" manner. Analogous to how a predator hunts down its prey, so the sexual predator is thought to "hunt" for his or her sex partners. People who commit sex crimes, such as rape or child sexual abuse, are commonly referred to as sexual predators, particularly in tabloid media or as a power phrase by politicians.

Wiki article about what a sexually predator really is.

So, if this was your daughter, in the same situation, you'd be fine with her being labeled as a sex offender for 10 years and being charged as a child pornographer?

Okay, she obviously didn't do that. You sound the one spewing bs.

Why did you even post that?

She may be considered a sexual offender, not predator.

A sex offender is a person who has been criminally charged and convicted of, or has pled guilty to, or pled Nolo contendere to a sex crime. Crimes requiring mandatory sex offender registration may include child sexual abuse, downloading pornographic material of persons under the age of 18, (child pornography), rape, statutory rape and even non-sexual offenses such as kidnapping. The term sexual offender is a broad term, with sexual predator being used to describe a more severe physical or repeat sexual offense. Sexual offenders are also sometimes classified into levels [1], where the highest level offenders have the most aggravating crimes and thus, the most risk to the public and usually must register as a sex offender for their entire lives. Low level sexual offenders may serve only a probationary sentence and only register for 10 years as well as having less restrictions placed on them compared to higher level offenders. As a label of identity it is used in criminal psychology. Especially in the United States the person, if convicted, is most likely required to register with the respective jurisdiction's sex offender registry, a county- or statewide database that is often public and accessible to everyone through the internet.

Thats a GREAt question. Starred and flagged. You took the words right out of my mouth. Its not so comfortable for him to think along these lines.

Yes, its a little too broad a term if they can be charging her for this. It definately needs to be changed ASAP, because this girl doesn't need to be made an example of, but simply loved enough to be protected and guided by parenting figures, as they would if this was their own child. Because this wouldn't be happening if she wasn't in a foster home.

If I killed someone, I wouldn't want to be labeled a murderer and go to jail.

How about you?

Iam not the one who said she is the same thing as a sexually predator. I was simply calling him out on that, because he is using his words recklessly. She is obviously NOT the same thing as a "full grown sexually predator" as he put it. I was simply pointing that out. You are very smart. Good job.

Your explicit descriptions need to STOP. They are completely unnecessary.

Ok. Not the question I asked.

How about answer the one I asked that was on topic instead of one you made up that isn't.

If it's so obvious, then why even point it out? You were obviously trying to get some type of high ground and discredit him.

Too bad it didn't work.

Hey, lets just go ahead and control what people do with their own bodies and remove the whole parental picture from the equation.

Yeah.

That's a real good idea.

First the comparison with an adult exploiting a child is not seen as different by a few as a child sending her friends some indiscreet pics by certain responders. That in itself is apples and oranges. Now lets compare sending your bo or friends a nudie shot on the same level as murder. Get real. This to me smacks of attempting to treat teenage girls like the madonna whore syndrome.
We did away with that in the 60s, and this would be a step back in normal teenage development from the 70s and 80s. Basically, she can't exploit herself in this way.

I think I was clear. Who, on Earth, would want their daughter to be labeled as a sex predator for sending child pornography to her friends?

The problem is that when it comes to you and yours, you tend to act more on emotion and survival than in terms of reason and justice.

Justice is best served on those who disobey the law, not on those who obey it. Lines are drawn, or do you think it would be better to have a society based on emotion rather than law?

Good job on keeping me on my toes!!! You are correct, there should be a lower line as well. And after further though, the upper line should be the age of consent, which varies from state to state. The lower line should be the onset of puberty. My problem with this is not that she should be punished, it's the 'sex offender' label, whick will haunt this poor, stupid girl forever. If we caught this girl having sex with her boyfriend (assuming he is the same age) we would not charge both of them with statutory rape, now would we?

If this was your daughter that did this, would you just sit back and let the sex offender label be slapped on her....for taking nude pictures of herself and sending them to her boyfriend? Would you think it was right and proper then and cheer it on if it was your 15 year old daughter?? Would you be ok with her being labeled a sex offender for the next 10 years and her being called a "child pornographer"?

Not to mention being called all sorts of nasty names by people that don't even know you.

I wonder what these same people think of Sarah Palin's 17 year old pregnant daughter. When did this daughter turn 17 and when did she become pregnant? Maybe we should lable her with all sorts of nasty names too and make her a felon?

I am sickened by some in this thread.

If this was my daughter, I would be a PARENT and would not have condoned this type of horrid behavior to begin with.

Of course it looks as if the people of this board seem to be alright with this kind of behavior. Seeing it as "normal" and "okay"

It personally makes me sick. Makes me wonder what kind of environment she is in that this sort of behavior is allowed and condoned.

Yes I have been called prudish puritanical even having no sense of humor. But that is I guess my problem. I guess I am in the wrong for thinking that our children should be children not aspiring porn stars. I guess I am wrong. I guess that it must be just fine for our kids to send kinky photos of themselves as long as they take them themselves.

Heck I guess yall would condone and approve of some sort of online kiddie porn site that teens can post pics of themselves on as long as they take them themselves. That must be all good too right?

Discredit him?

Her question was on topic. As in her, think about the threads OP article.

I'd be interested in hearing a response to that one from you, and some of the other members too
