I'm not sure what you are talking about. It was debunked as soon as it came out. It was an obvious hoax, and the most surprising aspect of the entire thing was how much attention it got in the first place.

The most obvious clue it was a hoax is even the simple fact that some person was announcing an event that would not need an announcement. I said, it, I'm sure others said it.
