But having said that I didn't like being behind the bar when the cellar door was open if I was there on my own. I always felt like someone/something was going to jump out at me ... weird really I suppose.

Up in the bar where the 'cloak guy' hangs out is ok too (he likes to observe what's going on and walk about (heavy footsteps in the corridor) and open and close doors (loudly) - lot's of people have heard this and some have even caught a shadowy glimpse of him - but I never felt threatened by him when I was in the pub alone, he would usually just stand in the doorway watching me.
There was also a young girl (not the cellar girl) who always gave off a really bubbly, happy energy ... I think she must have really liked working there. Judging from her clothes she must have been around sometime in the 1700's.
If you look at the photograph of the pub you can see one of the rooms sticking out over the porch (added onto the pub 1636). This room is said to be haunted by an old man. Apparently a few years ago one of the cleaners walked into the room and saw an old man sitting in the chair by the window. She appologized for the intrusion and left ... told the manager that she hadn't been able to clean that room because the resident was still in there ... turns out no-one was using the room at the time. But when I was in there I didn't actually feel any kind of presence.
It's a fantastic place though ... wish my son still had it.
