Read This Thought: The U.S. Army is developing a technology known as synthetic telepathy that would allow someone to create email or voice mail and send it by thought alone. The concept is based on reading electrical activity in the brain using an electroencephalograph, or EEG.

I found this article to be interesting not only because of the Army's use of technology, but also because for some reason it resonated with me that it makes sense that we are discovering more about our ability to communicate telepathically. Clearly, the application and intent of the technology needs to be discussed, and obviously there are nefarious interests involved. I wonder how far we really are with some of this?

That made me laugh outloud.

It's only funny though until it happens, which I believe is happening in malls/airports etc. I guess the question is, can the "receiver" of the mental e-mail block it into a spam filter?

Commercialism and advertisements based on Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Hypnotic suggestion, and even sentimental manipulation should be outlawed. These practices are simply more evil than paying more than the value of something so that someone can profit from it by "added value".

The roots of the tree of tyranny are profit.

The roots of the tree of liberty are fairness.

We need to stop spending money on things and just start smuggling, trading, and doing everything overhanded we can to mess with this tyrannical system, placed over us by the most ignorant of voters.

WE are the authority, not the government.

Agreed. In addition, I would add TRUTH to the Liberty tree. This is something I have been pondering for a while. Truth. What it means. What would we be like if everyone told the truth? Hmmm. Impossible to subvert through subliminals unless agreed to in the first place by the populace? Hmm...

sounds a lot like The TommyKnockers, where Bobbi Anderson wrote her best book in her sleep/trance. So many times ill be in bed at the cusp of sleep and be struck by a shot of brilliance, and im like 'should i get out of bed and write that down and try to make sense of it in the morning?' which is usually impposible to do because my thought process in the morning is usually impeded with a hangover and bong resin.

I absolutely refuse to allow my mother access to sending messages straight to my brain. Talk about nagging. And don't forget the spouses. Practical applications my foot. Thanks, but no thanks.

You need to rethink your resin position. Obtain more of what creates the resin. It will taste better, anyway.

Tommyknockers was a good book. My mom and dad bought me the entire Stephen King library when I was in fifth grade - thanks for introducing me to the dark side! My mom also once got me skinny puppy, revolting cocks and misitry for christmas. cool, eh?

The government having read/write access to my brain?

Nukes: less scary.
New World Order: less scary.
North American Union: less scary.
Web Bot predictions: less scary.
Miss Blossom's aliens with cold rectal probes: less scary.
Girlfriends with read/write access: less scary.
Advertisers with read/write access: even scarier.

I'm praying for another ineptly run government program that fails.

To MeanRedSpider: Are you crazy? GF reading thoughts couldn't be worse. Yes, it does look like they are slowly unveiling another method of future communication, again, how far advanced are we already and what else can this bad boy send? Malicious e-mail? Shut down your server, permanently type of email?
