Iraqi Govt Fuels 'War For Oil' Theories With Biggest Ever Reserve Sale

The biggest ever sale of oil assets will take place today, when the Iraqi government puts 40bn barrels of recoverable reserves up for offer in London.BP, Shell and ExxonMobil are all expected to attend a meeting at the Park Lane Hotel in Mayfair with the Iraqi oil minister, Hussein al-Shahristani.

Access is being given to eight fields, representing about 40% of the Middle Eastern nation's reserves, at a time when the country remains under occupation by US and British forces.

Two smaller agreements have already been signed with Shell and the China National Petroleum Corporation, but today's sale will ignite arguments over whether the overthrow of Saddam Hussein was a "war for oil" that is now to be consummated by western multinationals seizing control of strategic Iraqi reserves.

While I have absolutely no doubt that oil played a PART of this special-interest driven invasion / occupation, I do not think it was the ENTIRE reason at all.

This was a multi-tiered profiteering and power venture.

Look at the no-bid rebuilding contracts, the billions on end that the M.I.C. and war corporations, as well as the politicians involved with them have raked in.

The ever-greedy oil industry is certainly factored in on this invasion, but they are merely a piece of the larger puzzle.

They will however, play a further future role in this I fear, by CONTROLLING these reserves further, and manipulating prices indefinitely...

This is why we need to bring alternative energy / fuel systems (which I am sure are being suppressed by these greed-mongers) forward in the worst way.

Things can not go on in this destructive pattern as is--Something will have to break. And right now it is the tax-base populace that is both going broke and being broken by these people...
