LOL... actually, I helped pay for that road as well, a road built through pure Socialist principles. Oh, and by the way, I helped build that road as well, it's what I do. So technically, by the sweat of my brow and through my taxes, that is MY road. And I say he can use it.

i agree with the OP...as Thomas Jefferson once noted " If we as a nation pursue a bipartisan system of government, it will ruin the nation from within" or so many words anyway......i, myself, am a firm believer in our Constitution and all it represents.....this line of thinking has me in the Republican camp (technically if i had to choose) simply because i BELIEVE we have INALIENABLE RIGHTS which CANNOT be VOTED (democrats) away from us!

Democrats would have the system all voted away if they wished and had a large enough body of people behind these votes.

anyway...ya im more into our Constitutional rights than anything else its what sets us apart from the world

Source, please, I very seriously doubt that either gentlemen ever said this...

He said it , seen it reported, the words flowing right out of his mouth and Biden's

Joe Biden: Be Patriotic Pay Higher Taxes
www.youtube.com...

Point taken, they actually did say that. However, you strangely left out the context. The whole idea is to restore the middle class that is quickly vanishing in this country thanks to the mythical "Trickle Down" theory. The money will be used to create new industry with middle class wages. The middle class then takes their newly acquired cash and does what with it? Why spend it, of course, thereby generating commerce, and essentially placing that cash right back in the hands of those that had it in the first place. More credit is established, more debt created (never forget our economy is fuelled solely by debt), China gets to sell their inferior goods to us, win/win... And yes, actually, it is just that simple. People are working again, they can buy houses again, etc, etc... Ad infinitum.

No offense, but you are an absolute idiot.

The Constitution is FEDERAL, not state.

The federal government doesnt provide trash service, and it certainly doesnt have any power to provide police or fire service. Those are state matters.

Yes, Wonka didn't get this one right.

However, there are State Constitutions which often deal with taxation etc. And there is the bespoke Interstate system etc, plus National Parks.

As for your contention the middle class carries the lions share of the tax burden, you are wrong again.

America’s lowest-earning one-fifth of households receives roughly $8.21 in government spending for each dollar of taxes paid. Households with middle-incomes receive $1.30 per tax dollar, and America’s highest-earning households receive $0.41 per tax dollar;

Government spending targeted at the lowest-earning 60 percent of U.S. households is larger than what they paid in taxes in 2004. Overall between $1.03 trillion and $1.53 trillion was redistributed downward from the two highest income quintiles to the three lowest income quintiles through government taxes and spending;

As nearly everyone knows, some taxes fall heavily on upper-income Americans while others fall heavily on low-income Americans. For example, the federal income tax is heavily skewed toward those with the highest incomes, because it has six tax rates that rise from 10 percent to 35 percent as income rises. In contrast, cigarette taxes fall mostly on the lowest-earning Americans, because those with low incomes are more likely to smoke than those with high incomes. However, when all taxes are considered together, America’s highest-earning income groups clearly pay the largest amounts of taxes to finance government spending programs.

Look over this, read the charts, and understand that you are wrong. Again.

According to this post, you personally would make 30% return on every tax dollar you pay -- in fact you get infinitely large return because you dodge taxes. Do you feel guilty? Is that why you want to NOT receive anything at all, no army, science etc?

So you are not paying for the possible capture and trial of Osama Bin Laden? You are not supporting our troops with things like decent body armor or anti-missile systems?

I see now. Than you have no right to lecture the rest of us about the Constitution, it was written for citizens and not for freeloaders who pose as such.

Our brave men and women in uniform are fighting for our freedoms and safety, and you don't give a damn (or a dime) to support this fight.

I wish it was. However, it's rather sad. People like you who don't give a damn about this great country of ours while demanding various rights set forth by our beloved Constitution are exactly the kind who are driving the US into the ground.

What's so wrong with handling most things at the state level? That's essentially what the Constitution dictates. Defense, etc. are federal priorities; everything else not mentioned is a state matter.

This country is not meant to be "homogenous." That's what makes us different from other places around the world. Each state is not meant to be like every other one. We should have extremely libertarian states and extremely socialist states. We have this format to some degree already, but not with regard to the big money items: healthcare, education, social security, etc.

If we want a federal income tax, it should be spent only on the stuff mentioned as a federal power in the Constitution. That would greatly decrease the FEDERAL income tax overall, thereby freeing up more money for STATE income taxes (if states so wished to take advantage of that). States are far more accountable to the electorate, and much more efficient than a bloated federal bureaucracy.

And if your state sucks at getting things done, if it taxes too much for your tastes, whatever... you can MOVE TO ANOTHER STATE--not another country. You hate the taxes in Vermont? Move to New Hampshire! You hate the lack of public services in Idaho? Move to California! That's what the founders intended.

I've never understood the desire to "solve problems" at the national level. This country is enormous, and every state faces unique challenges. The everyday problems of Americans simply cannot be "solved" by mammoth federal intervention.

People believing that the military is actually fighting for our rights and safety in the mideast are precisely whats wrong with this nation.

If the military wanted to protect our rights and safety, they would be destroying Washington DC as we speak.

Of course middle class and some in the lower tax brackets are going to pay taxes, is just that Obama's policies are design to provide more relief from taxes to these two brackets while increasing it to thos in the higher income tax bracket and corporations.

So in essence yes those that earn less than $250,000 are going to see their taxable income reduced, not absolved.

Again you might disagree with the policy, the same way I disagree with Bush tax policies, but by no means it equates to socialism.

Not that you said that, I'm just getting tired of the word been throw around by people that can understand the difference between policies and systems of government.

CUE STANDARD MOD SPEECH

Hi People,

You guys all know the drill by now: Attack the post - not the Poster.

Please keep the personal attacks out of it thanks, it adds nothing to your arguments and you guys are smarter than to descend to the level of that kinda thing.

Cheers.
