Life isn't fair. We're ALL hypocritical to some degree - we ALL have blood on our hands at some time or other. I'm comfortable with that - I really don't feel the need to beat myself up over it. Somebody who takes it to the extreme and becomes a vegan is probably just a hypocrite when it comes to something else in life. So what? All we can do is make our own calls and do what makes us feel happy - pick our own personal battles. Maybe it's meat, maybe deforestation, domestic abuse, children in the third world, whatever. We can't do everything and shouldn't be made to feel guilty about that. Maybe I don't care how my meat was killed, but I donate half my wages to starving children in Africa. I wouldn't start telling vegetarians that they're selfish because they're thinking of animals instead of poor starving kids.

Watch the video and make up your own mind; don't feel like you have to defend yourself or attack others if they don't share your feelings.

Ah, sorry about that.

What I meant is this:

The Chinese kill dogs, cats for cheap meat, cheap hide to sell in cheap purses/wallets/shoes etc. Often skinned alive.

America (and many other countries) put pets to sleep by the usage of gas chambers, as it said in the documentary, it takes 20 minutes to die. Painfully. Just to save a few dollars.

We as humans, often leave our faithful and loving pets behind, because we either don't want them anymore, they become a hassle or because we go broke. These animals end up on the street, live a hard and often painful life.

We as humans pump cattle and sows full of chemicals, to make them grow big and juicy. So big at times, their legs break from underneith them because they can't hold up the weight.

Just so we then can sell the beef at a higher quantity / price while keeping costs down.

We slit their throats while alive, just to drain their blood, because it's cheaper that way. (And in some religions, it's law.)

We don't transport a lot of the animals we use as food humanely. They often fall over each other, breaking limbs, then cattle prodded to move out of the truck to the slaughter.

My bottom point is, we do whatever it takes, to keep costs down, despite knowing that we are causing another living breathing entity great discomfort and pain.

Peace,
FK

My current connection wont allow me to watch this link in time, so Ill reply to your belief that humanity should be wiped out. I agree that its wrong that old dense rich losers who find power in temporary objects such as money and manipulative wordspeak dominate the status quo because they can pay sell outs to create lies and propaghanda to fuel such intra-specious tyranny, but that says alot about the 99% who basicly aren't doing anything to halt such evil. So over time they have siezed power, and used power for theyre own ends, usually corrupt.

What humanity needs is not insanity of polarized thought turning people against each other until were extinct, it needs to stop stagnating in front of the internet and television and start inventing. The happiest mind is a creative mind. When you couple lifestyle with technoloigy, you get evolution or de-evolution depending on which way society goes. For example the internet brought the world together instantly, yet there is more pornography and hate than ever because of the internet and stupid people follwing stupid people.

Humanity needs to change itself, not to be like the ones who seek endlessly wealth and objects, but seek knowledge, and learning, which are the greatest treasures of all. Even though Ill admit im like those who are lazy unthinking idiots. Hey..its my perogative.

Sadly, my friend, you are wrong. The interests of the many outweigh the interests of the few. So if we are an experiment gone horribly wrong, you best believe we will be exterminated in the the very same fashion we have to our fewllow earthlings. We will not be shown remorse regardless of whether or not you've lived a good life and brought up a wonderful family. I just hope, for all of our sakes, that there is a connection between biblical teachings and those of our ancients. That there is a universal standard (God, Cosmos, whatever your religion) and that we haven't been woken up yet. This is supposed to the age of materialism & greed. I know I for one have never liked the way we live, they way we're assembled in schools, only to prepare us for systematic work. So people reading this, if you watched this movie and shed tears like I did, you are halfway to your own enlightenment. It means you are more in touch with Earth than 80% of the populace. For the ones that started it, then turned away from the first gross scene, or for those who did not shed a tear, there is something immoral and wrong with you and you won't be able to see/hear/feel the light when it comes. Just please people, we ALL have to wake up. FYI a great book to start is The Mayan Calander and the Transformation of Consiousness by Carl Johan Calleman, Ph.D. Take care and bless you all.

And its not true that animal testing has no benifit. I mean plain science proves otherwise.

"Plain science", so you're a scientist? The ONLY reason they use animals is because they are not allowed to use lifers from the local prison population. These prisoners are already a waste of time, life, humanilty and YOUR TAXES and should be used for experiments to benefit the rest of humanity. Believe me, I would prefer to use humans for research purposes as they are the only model properly made for human processes.

Whaling is outlawed pretty much everywhere too.

The Japanese and Norwegians are well known for not only whaling but for exceeding the yearly "quotas" that they are allowed. Maybe a torpedo or two into the whaling ships would solve the problem?

Funny stuff seeing people get trampled, maybe thats just me.

Yah I gotta admit that was funny stuff, except why do they bother sending the humans to the hospital with all those injuries, why not just shoot them in the head instead, sure would save them alot of suffering.

Now understand one thing, I am NOT a PETA head, they are nothing but attention seekers and hypocrits. They don't really care about animals at PETA, they care about publicity and getting more money for their leaders hollywood lifestyles.

In the United States of America we have thousands of Death-Row and Life-without-parole prisoners costing us more than $150,000.00 per year in basic expenses. That does not include the extra expenses these clowns run up in unnessessary legal petitions and tying up the Judicial system. I say we use them for medical and cosmetic experiments, at least they can tell the researchers the effects they feel, I would be morally, ethically and professionally fine with that.

you know, i would like to think that the people shown in this video are not the norm. (or the clifton
) but i wont get on the hate humanity aspect. some of this crap is terrible...but some of it is vital as well. I mean, come on...lions brutally murder gazells, but "thats just nature". and i dont know about you, but i'd rather have my throat cut, even if it took a few slices, than have it ripped out by teeth. yea, i'll get on board with the fact that humans need to eat more veggies, but for that matter, how do we know plants dont feel? fact is, we are what we are...should animals be beaten before slaughtered? no...but those are a few sick #s who get their jollys of hurting things..but on the other hand, its not our fault we evolved to be masters of this planet...we do what we gotta do.

Oh the old buddist ideals at work here, got to brush aside the ants on the side walk I walk on so that I won't step on them, but what about the things we don't see? Where do you draw the line? At insects only? Lets not get into the billions of one celled organisms that we step on or the molecules of air we breathe in and expire a combusted byproduct!! Grow up.
Say if we don't eat meat what do we eat that isn't effected by our eating it? LOL Plants are alive, do they have feelings? Do they weep, maybe at long last we find out they do, what do we eat then? I'd say the solution is to kill ourselves and not impact our surroundings at all huh?

"We are willingly killing millions and millions of animals for our entertainment pleasure comfort and.....$$$"

Try again.

"We are willingly killing millions and millions of animals for our FOOD"

Better.

We eat the animals. That is the circle of life. Be glad you are at the top of the food chain, by the way. Who knows maybe we will not always be so.

Should the fur, hooves, leather skin, and all be wasted after the processing of the meat? No of course not. Therefore the remainder of these items are a lack of waste after the REAL reason we slaughter the animal: to eat and survive.

It's not a nice slice of reality, but it is reality: Man eats animals to survive; it's never been a pretty thing and it never will be.

We human beings ARE animals, we are all connected in one way or another. Therefore, shedding tears on animals or on humans instills the same deep rooted sense of compassion within us. Once we have this sense then we can share it with others and then pass it forward. People that have animals will understand exactly what I mean. Unfortunately though modern day society has been designed in such a way that it is extremely hard to hold on to it for long.

I agree that we should give our respect and show our homage to the animal that has given their life for ours to go on. God did tell Moses in Deuteronomy that man could eat the meat of any animal that has a split hoof divided in two and that chews the cud. He does however, tell Moses that the pig is considered unclean because they do not chew cud. He said of the creatures living in the water you may eat any that has fins and scales. You may eat any clean bird. He does go on in Deut. 14:12 to explain what an unclean bird is. God tells Moses to slaughter your animals in any of your towns and eat as much of the meat you want but you MUST not eat the blood; pour it (blood) out on the ground like water, because the BLOOD is the LIFE and you must not eat the LIFE with the meat.
Now, the video does prove to show that man or HUMANS need to be more kind and loving towards all creatures of this world. I believe that through the natural order of things life happens as it is meant to enfold. No doubt man has messed things up. We always have and always will but we MUST find a way for ALL earthlings to exist on this planet with respect and kindness towards each other. I know this is more than you posted and I am sorry for coming across hard. I feel for the way animals are misused and with it could be different, but as some have posted the most part of humans are good and kind hearted people and don't deserve to be wiped off of the face of the earth.

Everyone in the future will be vegetarians not by choice mind you, everything that man touches turns to crap, its only a matter of time before we contaminate our sources of food. Fish will be next I believe. More and more people will start growing vegetables and fruit because the supermarkets will be to expensive. Maybe then will people realise the need to treat animals like ourselves and show a little respect to our fellow earthlings.

Yeah well trust me there are plenty of people that would not waste a tear on people like you, or toss you a crust of bread if you were starving to death.

I am one of them.

Post like this don't surprise me, animal lovers have an abundance of love and compassion for the birds and bees but when it come to humans, they can be extremely cold and uncaring.

Whenever I hear someone say "I'm animal lover" red flags go up for this reason

When some puppies gang up and start throwing children into ovens in Georgia, you might actually have a debatable point.

When kittens gang up and start jamming firecrackers up childrens butts, you may have a debatable point.

Until then, you are SOL.

The feeling of the OP is not so unusual, a few of us can relate when we witness these absurd heinous acts. But then, we have to think about the “few good” people who remain and who are still able to be descent beings. To those who keep saying, money is the problem, well! Not really! Neither it is just the fact that we are carnivores. You see the real problem here is EVIL. Just pure shameless EVIL.
The saddest fact is, already just one click one of these kinds of videos will ruin your whole day or get you depressed for some time, it is actually seeing so called “people” actually condoning these horrors, even glorifying them and sometime in the name of God.
What make things more difficult is that many monsters/demons are just lucky to be born under human form.

I don't know what's been said... but for a long time I couldn't bring myself to watch animal cruelty films. Well, now I did it. I'm devastated. My life is changed. I apologized to my dog for like an hour. I'm sorry.... I'm so #ing sorry. I knew but didn't speak. The pain that brings is endless. I want to be a vegan now. If ever there was a conspiracy...

jesus save our misguided souls.

For those who are saying we could stop eating meat and instead feed the wheat to people, well you would be removing protein from the diets of all those people. So then you'd have to grow more bean crops and that would lead to even more deforestation. So the arguement that we can just feed grain to people is rather flawed.

[edit on 13-10-2008 by ImaginaryReality1984]

Not so, this sounds like a cop-out to me. I'm saying this is a direct correlation between food needed to feed the population and food grown that is dedicated to livestock. Meaning the land already dedicated to farming could sustain the population if it were dedicated almost exclusively to growing food for humans.

Now take into account all of the landmass dedicated to livestock. The entire system is bunk, and for the most part only benefits corporations. In return we get massive health problems that overtax our social programs and medical system

As far as protein, there are a huge number of natural sources. The obvious solution to this would be protein extracted from insects, but because of the way that modern civilization has developed, it would take a huge leap in forward-thinking to make that acceptable to the majority. Which is a little bit ironic, considering that insects along with leaves are the primary sources of protein for virtually all primates excluding us.
