"The Switch" Role Reversal

Let's pretend for a second...if some of you can allow yourself to do so....that the tickets are reversed......McCain/Palin on the democrat ticket...Obama/Biden on the Republican ticket.

Based on that ALONE....do you still vote the same? Do you still make the same arguments against and for your candidate? I think many people vote on party alone instead of the man/woman.

Would like to see some honest answers.
Would you change your vote and why?

I'm an independent and vote on the issues. If everything was the same and only the party they were representing changed then yes I would make the same arguments for both candidates.

Without getting to much into it I don't know who one candidate is so I look at his voting record and find that his rhetoric and his record don't match up. The other candidate, a lot of his rhetoric and voting record match up. If you look at it like that latter would be the better president because he is just a little more intellectually honest.

When it comes to electing a president though you have to realize that they are politicians and they lie. So you have to look at their background and who they chose to associate with and what experience they have and what kind of judgment they would bring with them.

So my criteria for choosing who I am going to vote for president is based off if their rhetoric matches up with the voting record, judgment and past character associations. Of course I know I'm not going to agree with any candidate 100% of the time, but I have to agree with them at least 60% on the issues more would be better, but you have to be realistic.

Here's my honest answer. We don't have a qualified candidate; obama and mccain have almost identical voting records which is not good for America in mho. As usuaul each are liers and have 'issues' being brought to light but whereas mcamnesty has a page of them, which under normal circumstances is too many for comfort, obama's pages never seem to end! It's like the intertwined never ending story! That man has more unsolved mysteries than the show and what gets me is that his supporters don't care! WhY!! Is it mass hypnotism? Are we so eager for change we believe this megalomaniac demagog illegal alien?
He scares the he!! outa' me and I believe he's lined up to finish us off.
It realy doesn't matter who you vote for.

Might I humbly submit that you are correct, but you might have missed the root of the reason]/i] you are correct.

Since one or two generations ago, a very new, and different society has sprung up. We are it. We believe, almost fanatically, that someone can tell us information, and that based on that information we then judge the information and choose political representation based on that judgment.

Here's the problem, we don't. I am almost afraid to tell some people who earnestly think they are conscientious voters that, in fact, they are the true-to-life proof of the old saying; "There are none more enslaved than those who falsely believe themselves to be free."

When you stop to consider that nearly everything you claim to know about celebrity-candidate 1, and celebrity-candidate 2 - you have been told second hand. Just how sure you are actually judging the information, as opposed to simply 'reacting' to it? Would you bet your life on it? I ask, because in a very real sense, we are.

Older people are much more inclined to be 'Party-line voters" but this is the paradigm under which they have been politically indoctrinated. Their kids generally, as a result of generation-gap friction, are more likely to 'spread' their good-sense around' choosing the celebrity-candidate that matches more personally acceptable doctrines or policy. THEIR kids however are realizing that it's all a game, they've been and are being, played by people who've trained them to want what they are 'told' is desirable, and 'consume' as a form of expressing yourself. In other words, they are indoctrinated to view the political process and it's candidates as 'consumers' view products.

But the kids are smarter than they thought; and many are now realizing that there was an underlying, hidden 'flavor' to all this, a flavor of serfdom, slavery, servitude, call it what you will. The fact that these co-called public servants don't actually serve US has become too evident to ignore, despite reality TV, despite the Emmies and Oscars, and the latest internet porn.

I would expect THEIR kids will be better suited to seeing that this kind of social surrender never happens again. I would think it's our responsibility to make sure they can seize the opportunity to do it.
