Yes, it's getting a tad unpleasant here. Still, i'd rather be here than in the USA at the moment. What's Oz like at the moment, i hear you guys actually bothered to regulate your financial institutions.

This doom and gloom stuff dosent bother me, Hording food and stuff like that for survival, I live in Ireland Im never more than twenty feet from a cow, I could gut and bone him in ten mins, I have a fresh water stream about 200 hundred metres from my house so i def wont die of thirst, If i take 10 paces to the right im in a gabbage field, and 50 paces to the left im in a corn field, Ive got a double barrel that could take the head off bambi at 70 yards.

The point is, I couldnt die of starvation if i tried..

Roo Meh,

Bless you that is a wonderful hand of friendship,

However I was being very tongue in cheek, Pom Humour eh!

Be careful what you wish for you could end up with ten's of thousands of very pale and square eyed atsre's with Tin Foil hats on turn up in your locale!

Not sure the neighbours would approve :-)

Regards,

Elf

ROO-meh, thanks for your concern mate, really appreciated.
Yes this countrys going under, big style, up here in the north we feel it worse.
Unemployments up, wages are down, people turning to the bad drugs, people losing their homes because they can't afford their mortgages on top of this tax that tax every other tax.
Take council tax (formerly known as poll tax), i'm in band A as i live near the towns centre, that means i have to fork out 1150 pounds a year to the bloody council to sit on their fat arses and maybe polish a road if they can be bothered. Now im in a small town, in the bigger citys they are paying more than that.
you really can end up better off on unemployment benefits up here than if you are working.
Still, I try not to worry about money and the state of the country, as long as I can get out into our lakes, stick a tent up, listen to good music, and i have my health, then i'm sorted.
But it is getting to the point where that old saying comes into effect, "i want to live, not just exist".

Peace.

1/ army storm trooping the country

Scaremongering. Not happening

2/Russian plane with nukes buzzing within 20 kms

Misconception. No one's ever said - in any article or news piece - that the plane was armed.

3/ cctv everywhere OMG WTF being watched

Urban myth, 90% of cameras are privately owned

4/ Crown calling in Her jewels and wants a hand out [sic]

She didn't call in her jewels, but she did ask for some help maintaining palaces that are open to public viewing

5/ All the brits local councils are indebted to Iceland !!! lol really?

Untrue. Some councils held money in Icelandic banks and investments

6/ Icelands assest are frozen ROFLMAOCOPTER

Assets were frozen to attempt to recover monies held in Icelandic institutions that were closed down

get a grip pom's Really is it that bad ?

No its not, despite what some doom mongers, wind up merchants and newspapers would have you believe

Hi.

I get the distinct impression that we are on the brink here, and i am seriously starting to worry about my childrens future!

I can clearly remember being at school in the early 80's,and the whole school being shown the film,"The Day After",and i can tell you know,i have a far stronger feeling of impending doom than i ever had during the cold war!

Also,i seem to be surrounded by people who just can't seem to grasp the severity of the situation. They almost seem to be in denial, even the missus for god sake!

Would dearly love to uproot the family and join you in Australia, but unfortunately it's just not possible so i suppose i will have to keep my wits about me and protect my family as best as i can.

I think alot of serious stuff is going down and will get worse, but I don't feel scared (yet), rather just a bit nervous and shocked. Obviously if America crashes the rest of the world won't be too far behind, but I think in my house we'll be prepared. Getting some supplies in "just in case" , keeping cash around instead of in the bank , my mum's got an allotment so we should be ok for vege and I work s/e from home so don't have to worry about losing my job as such...the industry I work in (I'm a Tarot life guidance reader) will likely be one of the few to fare well as others crash an burn.

All said and done I am getting on with life just as before, I'm just far more aware now and will be prepared too , IF it spirals out of control. As terrible as it all is, got to say what a fabulous disaster movie it is to watch too. Never felt to many highs and lows just watching the world events unfold as I have done this week, it's a massive drama to be witness to for sure.

WOOGLEUK:
War games, first time i've heard of them, might be fun, lol

2/Russian plane with nukes buzzing within 20 kms

Misconception. No one's ever said - in any article or news piece - that the plane was armed.

WOOGLEUK:
True True

3/ cctv everywhere OMG WTF being watched

Urban myth, 90% of cameras are privately owned

WOOGLEUK:
In Cumbria, every town and city centre is CCTV'ed up to the eyeballs, all owned by the police and the council, and they are now on a lot of housing estates, i fear to watch my sick twisted german festish porn these days in case i get caught out, lolz

4/ Crown calling in Her jewels and wants a hand out [sic]

She didn't call in her jewels, but she did ask for some help maintaining palaces that are open to public viewing

WOOGLEUK:
She has enough money as it is, why do we need to fund these german imposters? Seriously, I respect the monarchy, but what do they do? really?

5/ All the brits local councils are indebted to Iceland !!! lol really?

Untrue. Some councils held money in Icelandic banks and investments

WOOGLEUK:
Didn't know that, and I would like to know why and what is the point, whats wrong with HSBC?

6/ Icelands assest are frozen ROFLMAOCOPTER

Assets were frozen to attempt to recover monies held in Icelandic institutions that were closed down

WOOGLEUK:
I second that, true.

get a grip pom's Really is it that bad ?

No its not, despite what some doom mongers, wind up merchants and newspapers would have you believe

WOOGLEUK:
Im sorry neformore, but it is bad, not with the army, not with the monarchy, but with the finacial situation in general, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, yup, although it seems like some of the rich are getting poorer now.

Who's afraid and unthinking?

WOOGLEUK:
I'm afraid for my son's future, i'm afraid I can't provide for his upbringing, i'm afraid the world that he's gonna grow up into is gonna one of depravity, famine, war and hate.

Again, sorry neformore, i'm not trying to blast your comments, just putting my own forward.

Peace.

p.s. (lol) i'm sorry for having to put the WOOGLEUK before my comments, dunno how to do it any other way
