Most Americans have no desire for the U.S. to become an empire.

America is an empire.
Its a political, economic and business empire, and to a lesser extent,a military one. From the moment it became independent it set about extending its power.

Republics and democracies expand their territory. That trait alone does not make an empire. See Athens, see Rome.

While there are different groups of power elites at the top, as there are in all societies, none of them have succeeded in taking full control. The power of government over the people in the U.S. is greatly exaggerated. Our biggest problem isn't lack of freedom, it is that we are spoiled by our success. Economic hardship is good for us because it forces us out of our lazy chairs, wakes up the sleeping giant.

Sleeping giant? how about a stumbling punch drunk broken down bum who dreams of the good old days. Your nation is going to be at war very soon, and I mean a war on your doorstep not some surgical war miles away.

Your nation is about to tear itself apart and what will be left will be a shadow of the former self. This has happened to most nations on this Planet, the US is not immune to this process and its time has come. You may not want to believe but it will not change the future, it will not change anything.

When the dust settles the US will either be a minor player in the NAU or a devastated land, one or the other will happen.

Wow, don't try to come off as too heavy handed now.

I wouldn't hold breath if I were you, but keep on wishing. The same thing was said about the U.S. before WW II. We will be on top for a long, long time, so you might as well get used to eating sour grapes.

Poet, what I think is irrelevant, you just don't get it do you. These events will take place, its not a question of sour grapes or anything else its just a question of facts and truths. And as my country owns yours, I don't think I need to worry about it but you should.

Well, next year when after it doesn't happen, I'll try and remember to send you a u2u laughing at you. Good luck on your national ambitions to take over the world. By the way, are you stroking a white cat or something?

You know what, this article is such BS. As an American who has traveled abroad once, I have to say that we have a great life here. Nothing has changed in our household other than paying a little more for food these days, but we make do, and live well, and we are not rich by any means, living paycheck to paycheck, but that is our choice to do so, it leaves more family time, and more time to work on other projects we love, including writing, one day I expect to complete and sell one of my works, I dream of being a successful writer and thank God I live in America where I am free to make this choice to live, laugh, love and grow here in a manner that suits me, allows free choice and will, If I mess up, then I have done it to myself, yet if I get to a point that I need public assistance it is there for me.

Why do you think this? I just don't get it. Have you ever stepped one foot in America? It IS land of the free, the brave, and it will NEVER fall. It may have some growing pains, but it will stay strong. Powered by the people, people of all nations, who love freedom and don't wish to see war on their doorstep. War on our doorsteps? That will not happen. We all have the right to own our own guns and amunition. With the exception of known felons, most homes have the means to defend themselves, let alone the military who will serve and protect us.

What is happening in America right now is what happens when a people vote in leaders that give full reign to the large Corporations instead of the people.

Our government has sold out to and now works for the large Corporations.

If you don't believe that last statement start to research "Who profits from this war" (by the way the American People were manipulated and lied to about the present war we are engaged in).

The AIG / bank bailouts are only the beginning.

Research who contributes to the presidential candidates. Keep in mind that nothing comes free, all "contributions" come with a price tag. Our current president is a "company man" that is why our jobs are being "outsourced" and companies are given "tax breaks" to take their jobs off of American Soil. Our country's government is not working "for the people" our government is working "for Corporate America".

Freedom is a fragile comodity. No we will not remain free forever and "never fall" if we keep voting blindly and not educating (really educating) ourselves as to what is really going on. We have in recent times come dangerously very close to having a dictatorship. "Bush has transformed America into a police state, from torture to the imprisonment of reporters, to the Patriot Act." There went some of your freedom from right under your nose and you're not even aware of it.

Guns, now come on wake up. Watch the Discovery Channel "Modern Weapons and Modern Warfare". Guns and rifles are no longer any match for "modern weapons". Your 45 or rifle is no match for the weapons that are now out there.

If a presidential administration declared "martial law" and brought in even "a foreign army" to subdue resistance your 45 or rifle would be a sorry match.

You are spouting mindset ideas from 30 years ago and sound like you have not delved very deeply into this issue. Wake up and start researching as to how fragil our freedoms are because if you don't and aren't forever vigilant we could turn around and find ourselves one day not free.

I strongly suggest you read Naomi Wolf's "The End of America".

www.youtube.com...

Your previous post upsets me because it is just this arrogant mindset that could very well cost all of us our liberties we take forgranted.

Dorothy Thompson: When liberty is taken away by force it can be restored by force. When it is relinquished voluntarily by default it can never be recovered.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt: The only sure bulwark of continuing liberty is a government strong enough to protect the interests of the people, and a people strong enough and well enough informed to maintain its sovereign control over the government.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt: True individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence.

Guns are pretty powerful. This OP suggests that literally on our doorsteps a war will soon take place. Not on my doorstep, you will be shot. I and everyone I know would defend themselves to the death against an attack. Modern weapons used against us would take their arrival in the US, something even the Jihadists have not been able to accomplish, they used planes as weapons. Not to lessen the severity of 911, but it was no 'modern weapon', and not a threat unless you were in New York or at the Pentagon, that leaves all the rest of America safe. Nuclear is a threat, has always been a threat, but when one pushes a button for that it will be all over the world, like dominoes and we don't even have to think about it, we will be gone, all of us. That is the only modern weapon I worry about, but no nation with the exception of the ones who use airplanes for weapons, understand that world destruction would be the price for using nuclear weapons, and I thank God that my country works endlessly keeping those out to the hands of those with the will to use them against anyone unconsciously

No match for a rocket launcher or a M203 or a M240 or a KBA 25 mm. There's a whole hosts of new weapons out there that used would destroy your home and family without you even seeing them coming.

I strongly suggest you start educating yourself.

I am very much aware that new weaponry exists and is effective and poweful, my government owns such weapons and does it's humble best to keep them out of the hands of those who would use such to harm anyone on this soil. I don't see military from another country or Jihadists gaining the power to bring such weaponry into the US unoticed, let alone enough of these to take over the country or government, it would be an isolated incident and decorum would quickly be restored.

Poetr I dont recall predicting the date, month or year this event was going to happen only that uit will and soon. But will you be laughing when it does some how I don't think so.

Spacecadet, what you or your family experience is one thing but dxose that reflect reality or the norm in the US no it dose not. As far as your guns and ammo are concerned you will be relieved of both very soon. And despite all the bull of so many Americans stating over my dead body well yes it will be over your dead body if you don't hand them over.

One has to look at the bigger picture and most Americans don't, the words dream and bubble figure alot in their words which again is different from reality. As for your ammed forces protecting you how so, they have failed to do it up till now so what makes you think it will change.

Let me remind you which nation shoots, gases and burns it own citizens, America dose thats who, when that happens and its shown on prime time TV and no one does anything about it you no your up poop creek. And there is of course the big one, 9/11 how many murdered by your own Goverment just to wage war for profit power and greed.

No America is one sick puppy and its going to get worse, alot worse. If you have any desire to survive I would start planning now. But of course you may want to be part of the system, if so then it dose not matter.

Spacecadet, on the point of nukes, you do realise that your country has supplied nukes to that terrorist state Israel don't you and that they are not part of any nuke agreement or inspections. Plus the Isrealis have said they would use them even against their friends so what have you got to say about that.

If it hasn't happened by next year, than it didn't happen soon. U.S. garages are better equipped than your country's industrial centers. Even if the markets completely collapse, the technical know how in the U.S. will keep us far ahead of the rest of the world, than of course there is our nations tremendous national resources.

What will the countries of the Middle East do when they run out of oil? In all these years of oil wealth they still haven't developed industrially or technologically. If the people of the Middle East had half a clue, they would embrace Israel and the technological abilities Israel brings to the table. Truly these people are foolish.

Russia and China are both still hopelessly corrupt, and controlled by totalitarian regimes. It will take a long, long time before they begin to turn the corner towards sustainable economies. India is laden with the class sytem. S. Korea, Japan, and Western Europe are densely populated and have limited resources. In addition, these nations are part of Eurasia, which makes them far more vulnerable to the backwards third world nations of that part of the world. The U.S. is well isolated, with Canada on our Northern border, we have a small stretch of border that we share with Mexico and Latin America to guard, and the rest is all water.

Latin America continues to suffer from horribly corrupt governments, and foolish socialist ideologues, their productivity is de-accelerating while the U.S. continues to out match the world.

Should the world's economy collapse, and if the U.S. economy collapses, than the world economy will collapse, as recent events have shown, the U.S. will still be in a better position towards rebirth than the rest of the world.

Read it and weep MM, your hopes of the demise of the U.S. will soon be dashed once again.

Penny still not dropped has it Poet, its not your country, your resources or anything else when are you going to realise that. You talk as if it is you that has control of these deciding events, and still speak of superiority as if its some kind of one upmanship, well its not.

Again you are mudling the issue, this is not about capacity or technology, its about the American way of life changing for ever, can you even understand the premise of this thread? I don't think you can, try lookling beyond the patriotism and the love of your country and see the real picture of what is really going on.

When you have emptied your mind of all the lies and propaganda, the disinfo and all the other mind control tricks that are used then you may see what I am talking about.

Actually, it is about much more than that. I agree, the American way of living is about to change considerably, as I have stated several times on this thread, but the change will be for the better, not the worse.

What part of rights of man don't you understand, what part of All men are Created Equal don't you understand. What part of Opportunity for All don't you understand. These principles will not go away, they will continue to feed the way forward, and where ever these principles continue, so will the American way of life.

Maybe you don't like these ideals on which American was founded. Maybe your are an evil person. AT Least that would be my perspective if you don't believe in these principles.

mushroom, one thing you do not understand is that unlike other countries who are torn apart inside their own borders by religion or resources, Americans will stand united. They would set aside race, religion, nationality, class, and stand beside each other and fight whatever forces try to come between them and their families and neighborhoods. We are welcoming change, Obama is giving hope to the many that change is about to happen, the middle class wants a fairer shake, and the people spoke, and the people want Obama and the change he will implement. We are always moving forward, acting on new ideals, new technology, new lifestyles. Change does not mean the end of American ways of life, it
IS the American way of life. Change for the better. Yet we keep those changes based on some basics like equality for all, opportunity fo all. You think that because a conspiracy site tells you that the US government is against it's own people, you can believe what you read, or see on you tv in whatever country you are in. Time for reality. Life is good here man. Yeah, I am paying more for bread and meat, not that damn much, and I am gonna complain about it becuase that is my right to do so. My government does not go around killing it's own like Saddam or Hilter, it ain't like you envision it dude. Yeah, we are having a 'finacial crisis', and I gaurantee you it will not affect us here like it will you and your countries people, we will hurt but it will be minimal, and that which does not kill us will only make us stronger. My military has never turned a hand on it's own citizens. And I am one of many who do not believe that 911 was orchestrated by US hands, since my govenment has protected me and kept my land lilly white while I grew up a nice American kid in a nice American neighborhood, as do today's children. I have never witnessed an act of war in my country, other than 911, and act of cowardice and lacking in ablility to affect more than a limited area/areas, nothing like what the US is capable of. America, my home, I am not afraid of my own government, or it's ability to defend me. People who think like you do about this country, I feel sorry for you. You are so disillusioned about this world, this country, it's people, it's lifestyles, it's government. But you have not been fed the truth, only propaganda.

Spacecadet, you don't know the history of your own country, stand together oh really, perhaps you forgot the civil war, was that not a country tearing itself apart. And I don't feed of propaganda and have a free open mind.

The US right now is a tinder box, the problems many, a massive divide between the haves and haves not, serious issues with immigration and all the rest of it. You make the US sound like evryone lives in peace and harmony, what a joke, do you know how many Americans are killed by their fellow Americans every year. Do you know how many Americans are locked up right know, do you know how many Americans dont' have medical aid do you know how many are incarcerated in metal institutions, no ou dont' so to you on the surface everything is OK.

You make the classic mistake of stating that because nothing has changed for you therefore nothing has changed full stop which is ignorance indeed. I always find it amusing when Americans start stating the usual your anti American, your jealous and all the rest of it. The simple truth is that there are those living outside of America that know more about whats going on in America than those that live in it which is a big mistake.

The simple truth is that life has already changed for many Americans and for the worse and thats only the start of it, to state otherwise is simply to deny what is taking place but denial is not a river in Egypt. To state that nothing has changed and everthing is as it was before is not true and all the facts are there to back it up. The fact that you do not agree with it does not change anthing thing it just highlights the lack of knowledge that you have of your own country.

Perhaps you may want to time some time out and step into reality to see just what is really going on around you. It is easy to become commplacent and assume that everything is OK and nothing has changed but it has. And as far as Americans standing together, Americans have openly and publicly murdered their fellow Americans and there is more to come. I think you are kidding yourself and would like to think it would be different but its not and the sooner you realise that the better.
