Hundreds flee US blitz in Somalia

A plane bombs Somalia
Missiles from suspected US planes have bombarded the Somalian district of Wargadud, 30km east of Baidoa, forcing citizens to flee.

The suspected US plane fired missiles at various positions in and around Wargadud on Thursday killing a number of civilians, a Press TV correspondent reported.

With only a few months till election. There are so many war fronts at the moment I find it hard to see optimisim concerning peace and stability in the world in this millenium.


What some people find interesting is that the CIA created alqaeda in the 80's to fight the russsians out of afghanistan.

True. Then they abandoned them in the face of looming attacks and hostlilities later. If you were a poor desert militant and a foreign superpower stepped up to arm you, start training you, then left you with no support when things started going horribly wrong, wouldnt you be ticked off? We did the same thing with Iraq, helping to arm and build a tyranical dictator. The difference is that, in Iraq, we built up a monster that happened to control a large percentage of the world's industrial lifeblood.
In both cases, we created the beast, only to see it turn on us because we didnt follow through in the first place.

Hindsight is....and all that crap. If the US Gov't would have employed more support to them in the early years and maintained some sort of oversight and support presence, we may have been able to create a valued ally in the middle east long ago. OBL got ticked off when his golden goose ran out of eggs and has been throwing a tantrum against the free world since.
