You've got to wonder, as the economy of the world continues to erode, at what point do we finally say that philosphical differences between the forms of government pale in comparison to economic partnership building and drop the trade sanctions on Cuba? Think about it, the Cubans want and need US goods... the US always wants new trade partners... Cuba's current top trading partner is Venezuela & their little dictator Hugo Chavez. What better way to slam a giant middle finger into Chavez' face than by supplanting him as Cuba's top trading partner and building a working relationship with the Cubans again?

It's an overdue policy shift that would almost certainly benefit both sides. We could also finally have the Cuban government working with us on issues like refugees and drug smuggling, instead of against us. Seems like a sensible time to bury the hatchet... which is also probably a primary reason it won't happen as our government doesn't seem to do anything 'sensible' anymore.
