Boston beat the Halos tonight, 3-2 in the bottom of the 9th. Jason Bay scored the winning run, on an RBI single by Lowrie.

John Lester had an outstanding night on the mound, mowing down Angels one after the other.

On to Tampa Bay.

Man, there must be some baseball gods. I was freezing at the game last night, having already lost my gloves by the third inning. I wasn't ready for another extra inning game, then 2 outs in the ninth, and they got that run home. Which allowed the game to end before midnight. Still a late night for the working folk.

They had a stat on how many times in the past few years Boston has won a playoff game with a walkoff hit in the bottom of the 9th, and it was quite a few times. Reminds me of the line in that Dirty Harry movie: "Man, you work close"!
