Scientists have gone and created a little robot controlled by rat neurons, taken from a rat fetus, and kept alive in a bell jar. The brain cells
communicate with the little robot by BlueTooth.

The research is supposedly directed at reaching a greater understanding of Alzheimer's, but it seems like the defense industry would really love to jump onto an interface such as this.

As the cells are living tissue, they are kept separate from the robot in a temperature-controlled cabinet in a container pitted with electrodes. Signals are passed to and from the robot via Bluetooth short-range radio.
