Miss distance is 0!!!

I heard a rumor that it would break up and explode in the atmosphere over Sudan. It will release 1 kiloton of energy.

It is small, 2.5-5.1m.

It shouldn't pose a risk to those on the ground.

The scary thing is that they discovered it today!!!

Here is another link.

spaceweather.com...

"A small, newly-discovered asteroid named 2008 TC3 is approaching Earth and chances are good that it will hit. Steve Chesley of JPL estimates that atmospheric entry will occur on Oct 7th at 0246 UTC over northern Sudan [ref]. Measuring only a few meters across, the space rock poses no threat to the ground, but it should create a spectacular fireball, releasing about a kiloton of energy as it disintegrates and explodes in the atmosphere. Stay tuned for updates."

Jesus H. Christ, what is going to happen next?

We are being bombarded with doomsday scenarios all at once. What the hell?

Jesus H Christ indeed.

If this badboy is made of Iron, and the angle is right I think it could hit the ground. They are predicting a glancing blow, and just a huge fireball.

indeed! i just finished posting a thread about Russian and U.K. war games! with all these options, "nothing" happening seems like a low probability!

Why does this give me the creeps? The fact that it was just found today
and is posted on an official government website is far more chilling than
the arbitrary predictions we see here all the time. I'll say a prayer for
us just in case.

It says 0.2 I think that adds up to 76800 miles away. Close enough though.

Too bad it probably won't be visible from North American skies....seeing a kiloton explosion in the atmosphere has got to be awesome.

Here is the orbit animation.

ssd.jpl.nasa.gov...

Looks like they are saying .02 LD which is like 75,000 miles.

It might miss. Probably not.

Good Find and post,

there is however an earlier thread on this topic, and it was submitted before yours, though I believe your headline has got more replies.

ATS rules says we should all go here now to discuss this further:

A Few Meters Planetoid Will Hit The Earth ATS

Please continue discussion/debate there unless told otherwise by a Mod here.

kind regards,

Elf

Something is just found TODAY in outerspace hurtling towards us at
10's of thousands of miles per hour and the "experts" already know
it's angle of entry, composition, life in atmosphere and what part
of Earth the asteroid will break-up over? Are our computers THAT
good? I hope so.

EDIT: OOPS..Sorry. I just saw the post requesting that we use the
other thread after submitting this one.

They can detect these small meteors individually now so we will undoubtedly here about these more even though the heavens have been making meteor showers since day one. What we used to marvel at they want to turn into fear. ANYTHING to keep the weapons manufacture running and thus keep the powerful in power. They want to arm space so bad. Carol Rosin warned about this.

Is there still free speech? I don't want to get in trouble. let me know. cheers.
