Hannity and Limbaugh are not news, the are entertainment commentators, FOX news is completely different then commentation. Learn the difference.
I disagree with you.
Limbaugh and Hannity and other political talk shows are political commentators, and part of the media news infrastructure. The weird thing is that they actually provide SOME GOOD NEWS and some very good commentary. These guys are very smart. And their personal opinions count.
I think Hannity is actually more inflammatory than Limbaugh, and more likely to engage in pure negative speculation. But they both do it. (I don't listen to them that often, so I might be wrong.)
The problem I see is that, by establishing some record of validity, they are able to state their opinions as fact, and their opinions may be totally wrong. People will buy into false ideas.
Why would Limbaugh, Hannity, others do that? Clearly, to get higher ratings by keeping their shows interesting, so they keep their contracts and make more money.
I think this is very irresponsible, but I don't necessarily think it is malicious. If there actions are really based on malice, and not greed, then these guys are more dangerous than I currently assume, because a highly destructive forces are moderating them.
In that case, if they have malicious intent, the potential for damage is very great. These guys are extremely powerful. The devotion of an angry and powerful person to a negative cause is something to be feared.
