More Moderator Abuse!

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Yeah, I get abuse from the old mods. But now that we have those who just recently entered into the Secret Brotherhood of the Enlightened Skittle, I can give them abuse because I'm senior to them. As the plumber said, "..it all runs downhill."

You mean "flows" not "runs", I hope.

That reminds me of a really funny old thread: regular mods vs. super mods
Worth a read through for a giggle.

Psssttt..Do I get a 500 point 'applause' for this post? I'm waiting!!

No Mike Buddy...you don't get 500 for the post.

But you did qualify for this:

The only catch: it's only effective on skeptics.

Fire away champ!

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

The word applies depending on the quality of the hot sauce in a particular taco.

And those old threads are worth a late night laugh.

That was/is a good thread...

You got some good feedback and there were some worthy responses as well.

Now every time I feel the need to ding you, I'll go ahead and get an extra "penny" while I'm at it.

Go right ahead kind sir...

I just lost 4000 'pennies' in one thread - had it coming, but hey...

Almost there.
Them I'm out for good.

Actually to the best of my knowledge without MOD intervention your counter resets itself back to zero. This is (from what I understand) known as keeping it fresh and allowing you to re-experience that feeling of being a newbie all over again.

I think after 100k you should get some type of MOD privelage...

Like say, the ability to move threads to the correct board, or maybe unlimited ignore...

Well as a mod you cannot put anybody on your ignore list

Mod intervention is not required to go over 100000 points. I was well over that before I became one

Rightly or wrongly one of the first words that popped into my head when i had finished reading this thread was the word sycophant.

You see i personaly know of someone who was banned with no recourse and has as far as i know never returned to the site again.
He told me exactly what had happened just before he was banned it seemed from what he said that it was the work of an over zealous mod.

Now i do agree that the mods do a good job with trying to keep people to the terms and conditions, but i would also like to say that they are not as good in some peoples eyes as one may think.

I suppose looking from a somewhat neutral point of view i can see things from both my friends and the mods perspective.
I can see that the mods want to keep the site "family orientated" and that involves people sticking to the terms and conditions.
I can also see however how in a world where people are angry at authority due to inept governments and governmental mistakes, that some members may feel some sort of a mistrust towards anyone with percieved power over them including the mods of a website.

I can well imagine that a mod having a bad day could have a go at a member for a post that they would normaly ignore but because of them having a bad day they slap a points dock or a ban on that member and may if they later think about why they docked/banned that member and realise they were being harsh, they may not appologise or reverse their docking/ban because they wouldn't want to look bad.

I can also see a member having a bad day and posting badly and in violation of the terms and conditions and not appologising due to not wanting to look bad either.

Beacause of such circumstances as i have described this site could potentially lose some good and very brilliant members.

Basically what i am saying is that in the midst of this mod love-fest thread is bear in mind that mods are just normal people who can make mistakes the same as anyone can, and not all would give the points back like the mod mentioned in the original post.

Is that the Intrepid being gently nudged into her berth, once again, in NYC?

Just for those that may not know, the USS Intrepid is a wonderful 'floating' museum, in New York, not only a fabulous display of an aircraft carrier, but also displaying quite a few aircraft.....for 'public' display.

I guess I don't have to tell you, those that know me, that my Partner served in the Navy, aboard a Carrier (I can't say which one) and he tells me his time aboard wasn't 'golden'...to be honest....but, I admire his ability to be honest.....because we need this, in today's age.

Before I met my Partner I also 'served' many years in the civvie airline field....we have each left our respective 'fields' and have chosen to accomplish our goals in a more indepentant way. It was not an easy decision.

I can't give more details....sorry. Some things have to be held close to the chest.

What's up WW?!

Thanks for stopping by...

You seem to bring a smile to my face everytime you chime in...

Your "partner" is a lucky guy, huh?

His time may not have been golden during his tour on board, but what about now? Golden big time, huh WW?

Appreciate the input...

You imagine well...it is in no way the norm, but does occur.

I already brought up that their guidelines are subjective...I left it at that because I have found myself in that situation multiple times, and it sucks...

You bring up some good points, and express yourself rather well...appreciate the input and look forward to your future posts.

Thanks, i was expecting to be railed for my point of view and i'm very plesently suprised.

No-one is perfect mods and members alike we just have to hope that the good times outweigh the bad ones.

Or have the right to date some of the female mods here on attaining the coveted 100,000 point target!! Banana Beach on the French Riviera would be mind blowing!! I have over 200,000! So that makes it two mods, or double the pleasure!!! Any takers? As they say, never refuse a good offer!

As for the male mods, well, nuff said!!

Cheers!

Spoken like a true believer...

Well, being a SME should at least get you a yearly trip out to the "compound" or where ever ATS chooses to hold the annual company party...

Most of the moderators here are reasonable. I have only had a problem with one here, mentioning no names, and that isn't necessarily because he is a bad person.

There have been several times when I probably should have gotten a "warning" or even suspended, but the moderators let it "slide."

I completely agree and that is one of the reasons I took the time to make fun of myself...

I thought it was a pretty good example of what they go thru from time to time...
