I think we will all be traveling in flying cars. Housewives will be spared the drudgery of housework with new fangled home "appliances." People will communicate through their televisions, most of which will be in color.

It's going to be groovy.

You sir, just made the "Duke Nukem Forever" of predictions. To add to your list, I believe we will also all still be enjoying Lucky Strike cigarettes and refer to women as "dames" while complimenting them on their lovely "stems."

A day when men walk out of doors without a hat? Preposterous! And the Charlston will never go out of style - nor, for that matter, will the charlston chew.

I know how I'd LIKE the US to be in four years

* manufacturers being provided powerful incentives to re-establish manufacturing plants in the US

* powerful DIS-incentives in the case of those manufacturers who continue to outsource

* a cap placed on lending/borrowing .. say 25% max of income

* heavily subsidised apprenticeship schemes across the board

* heavily subsidised medical colleges to produce qualified medical personnel

* massive reduction in university fees, in certain fields in particular

* a Closed Borders Policy .. a halt on immigration and deportation of thousands. No migrants in US jails .. ship them back where they came from, no exceptions. All employment to be offered to US residents, no exceptions, massive penalties for failure to do so

* taxation to be levied on all and every religious organisation and body

* legislation which would drastically curtail and reverse media and publishing monopolisation

* AN END TO FREEBIES TO ISRAEL !!!

* public vote to be held before entry into any war or skirmish

* teachers and any individual employed in the child-care industry to undergo psychological assessment on yearly basis

* unrelenting crackdown on the porn industry and re-establishment of censorship generally

* AN INDEPENDENT ENQUIRY INTO CHEMTRAILS TO BE CONDUCTED BY PANEL OF INTERNATIONAL EXPERTS WHO THEMSELVES WOULD BE RANDOMLY INVESTIGATED TO ENSURE FREEDOM FROM TAINT. ALL FINDINGS TO BE MADE PUBLIC ON ONGOING BASIS

* massive increased tax on Big Pharma in tandem with strong incentives for smaller manufacturers producing under inexpensive, generic labels

* paedophiles to be offered choice: chemical castration and drug treatment or lifelong incarceration which includes full working week -- 90% of wages to go towards War Against Paeodophilia, which in turn would be conducted by stringently vetted international personnel

that would do for a start ...

And if I'm still around I'll be rooting for the Rustbelt Rockets while wiping a tear from my eye with a tattered Terrible Towel (might be the only one I have left).

That is what you would LIKE it to look like. Now tell us what you BELIEVE it will look like.

We're not living in the 20th century anymore. Get over it. But I agree, the US experiences much more problems than Europe transferring to a service-based economy.

I suspect no one will pay much attention to Wall Street, only the rich and wealthest. Main Street priorities will become the discussion on every news channel and dinner table. We will come together as middle class, become stonger decision makers, fight harder for every earned penny and stand for every child that graduates for high school, because no telling where our children futures may be with this crises. Student Loans, Grants, etc will be hard to get.

I asked the same question a few days ago, so I clicked Futurerama for an answer and got what I thought was the answer:

If the future looks like Miss USA, then I can't wait to get there. But given the present state of affairs, I was kind of doubtful that the country would match the looks of Miss USA. As it turned out, a misspelling error occurred causing a wrong future pic to appear. Here's the correction.

Missing USA

Where the hell is it? What will happen? An asteroid will hit or something?

I did some frantic search, and it turned out the situation got something to do with paying off the national debt -- judging from Futurerama World Map.
