Night Turned Into Day

Im sorry i dont really know where this fits in but this is something that happened to me a little over 2 and a half years ago when i was in camp pendelton for ITB.

We were standing outside in formation (at night) and for some reason i felt compelled to look up. Right then for a split second it seemed like night turned to day then a wierd color then night again. This all happened in about a second to 2 timespread.

I asked other people if they saw it but they either acted confused or laughed it off.. kinda felt like i was in a truman show or something.

Anybody have any idea of what this could have been??

Someone shone a spotlight on you?
Or let off a flare?
I don't know what it could have been.

well no because i know what all that looks like haha....

and it was like the whole environment changed like it was daytime again not just a specific area...

Two things come to mind for me.
First would be a Bolide.
Second would be a transformer blowing.

I can say that I knew someone who had experienced a very similar thing to you. We can rule out that a spotlight is obviously limited to any given area, a transformer blowing would be exceptionally blinding with direct visual contact.

Since you asked for ideas... silent lightning is one.
I have seen many occurrences of it, the colour of the sky being definitely "weird" when it happened.
