I am starting this thread due to the recent speculation of the army sending a combat brigade to serve stateside(1st BCT 3rd ID) on October 1st. There have been numerous articles written on this and one by the Army Times as well so this could be the real thing.

My questions for our members is:
1) If martial law was implemented would you obey or revolt?
2) If war erupted inside our country would it be fight or flight?

Now this is only speculation but are the average citizens prepared for this possible scenario?

This is a serious discussion that hits very close to home for me and I shudder to think if even one tidbit is true.

No DHS here buddy, Im like you, I would just try and survive to see a new beginning, I would hope that my ten years in the army would help me stay alive and help others while protecting those i care for and what is mine. It would hurt me so to fight my own military and possibly cause serious bodily harm or death. There once was a time when the flag actually meant something, Lets try for that again.

If we do what our heart tells us to, as we should do, as we know what is right and what is just. We'll know exactly what to do and when to do it.

Well I like this thread, and I’m glad someone brought up the subject.
When I enlisted into the Army I swore the oath that many did about protecting your country from all enemies foreign and domestic, with that in mind I guess the enemy is in the eye of the beholder.
I’m a soldier for life and fighting is what Im good at, I’m also good at being a dad and a husband. However if those two are threatened I'll be forced to resort to basic initiatives to protect my what I love.

If martial law did break out I have to retreat 60 miles away from this location , its a hide area I have set up and from there I would listen to the radio and hopefully not be fed to much propaganda.
I would make excursions into near by towns if I could to see what the civil restraints were and how much freedom people had. If they really do start cracking down or I hear crazy talk about people being executed or a civil war breaking out Ill do my best to locate a group and join in the fight.

NO I AM NOT AN ARM CHAIR WARRIOR.. I’m so sick of hearing that crap from people who have never served in the military. I don’t want to kill any one or hurt anyone especially some dumb 18 year old kid who just joined the military and is getting screwed by the system. Black Water on the other hand, Oh yeah I’m all about setting them right, and there is plenty to go around.

The mere fact that the idea of martial law is being entertained leads me to believe that there may indeed be domestic enemies after all. Im never going to be a leader of anyone, but I can sure as hell pull my weight and the weight of others if needed. For this country and the love of my family that I hope to one day see again I am one soldier that fights for the TRUE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Get ready to fight back...
For if we have to, I will. I'd rather go out in a blaze of glory like Achilles instead of cowering. I would never adhere to the loss of my freedom. No man on this planet, who I do not respect, nor do I know, can ever tell me how to live, what to eat, how to breathe. There would be a large uprising in America if Martial Law was declared. Do not worry my friends, America will not be a slave to their own Government by force. The only way we crumble is if we are tricked, or if we are divided. If we use our brains, fight against this idea of socialistic pawns, use our individuality to grow, for all of those who fight for the darkness (in their heart) will bite the bullet. Do not fear my fellow Americans, there are many of us, and if a Revolution is needed, it will commence.

"Hey wait, theres not birthday party for me in here"...The immortal words of Jeff Spicoli...It is a classic...Im glad you liked the topic and it really does hit home for me. As much as this country needs to start over(in some ways) I never want to see combat troops patrolling our cities and townes..

I hear ya on that. I know to some my rants about this stuff may seem a little gung ho and smack of irrational bravado but I think there comes a time when everyone has to make a choice and then commit to that choice.
No one ever said those choices would be easy but maybe someday all this ugliness will be behind us and we can all move on with our lives. I for one have plans and want to see my wife and daughter again, and the last thing I need right now are obstacles in my way.

Few would revolt if Martial Law is declared. THIS IS A FACT. Lets be real.

Only when they come to our brothers, sisters, friends, neighbors, houses to be take away ONLY WE WILL REVOLT. This is where we get the flight or fight response going in our heads.

So will they declare martial law, maybe, but they won't come to your house. We still have guns. That would be 10-15 years down the road.

As for a civil war, the American Military does not have the heart to kill it's own citizens, because most of them already knew the War in Iraq was wrong... American citizens (angry whites & minorities) will join together and surely crush them.

The only thing to do is make people fight against themselves, that is to create a race war. Which is completely possible between angry whites and the exploited Mexicans. They do have something to fight for remember, south west US was their land before it was sold out.

What the US government is KING at doing is misdirecting the American peoples hostility. When they get afraid or angry, they do so many stupid things!

Remember what Yoda said about Fear, fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering...

To some degree I agree with you.
The idea some people get about 200 million Americans taking up arms against the government is LAUGHABLE!!!!

However in reality only a small few are needed to break the backbone of moral that runs through an already shaken military force that may have been forced to kill civilians.

I don’t think it would come to that though, however there are certain factors in my case that prevent me from being 100% compliant to rules they may try to enforce. I don’t plan on hurting anyone per se but I have a very important task to fulfill and I really don’t need complications invoked by a tyrannical government right now.

Actually that brings me to an important question that maybe I can get an opinion on from someone here, though I think I already know the answer.

If martial law were invoked after a while could one simply ask to go somewhere else?
Could one request to leave the US? If the answer is no and there is no foreseeable end to the said martial law then I have my answer.

To answer the OP somewhat, I already left. I hit my limit with the Clinton administration and moved out-since I wasn't seeing much support for alternatives to that action, and I wasn't in a position to go off the grid at the time. I have pleaded with members of my family to join me here, to no avail.

Frankly, I strongly suspect that if you don't choose until they actually declare martial law, your choice will be forced upon you. On the other hand, being ex-Army, I can certainly understand making the choice to fight. Good luck whichever you end up choosing.

If this were to somehow come to fruition I would head to an elevated location, Im in New Jersey so I would go west, There are some mountain ranges and other national parks I would head for and hunker down, I have a real good background in mountaineering(thanks Uncle Sam) and three tours in Afghanistan(thanks Uncle Sam) so with the right gear and supplies I would make it, It sounds like Red Dawn all over again doesnt it? Its funny but I really cant believe im even posting this but its nice to get both hemispheres of my brain working.

Good thread Buddy!

In answer to your question, I would sit tight at the beginning and see if how it plays out. I can only hope that cooler heads would prevail in this type of situation...

Then if all of our rights are stripped, and people start disappearing, I guess it's time to get down and dirty...something hard to imagine.

When you take a look at movies such as Children of Men, and get one idea of how it might be, with no quality of life and little reason to go on living, you are then left with few choices.

Heading to the hills might be an option, but I'm sure quite a lot of other people have already made that decision...so, hiding in the hills will no longer be hiding - but rather a way to unite with those still able to think for themselves...and you better do it fast, 'cause they know where the hills are too.

Is it correct that only 30% approx. Americans even bother to vote ?

If it is true, wouldn't more people getting off their backsides and actually voting be a practical move ?

If people are so disinterested in their own and family's future that voting is too much effort, then I don't expect too many of them would lift a finger if martial law were implemented.

Just remember, folks. This site has a 99.9% probability of being monitored at some point. Be careful what you say.

Me? I'm an 01 FFL. I'm already on a "list." The one answer I can give is do what you believe is right. Read Sun Tzu's "The Art of War." It will help.

Do not fight on their terms. That will only lead to senseless death. I'm not saying bend over and grab your ankles...i'm saying to bow and scrape when they're looking and shank 'em in the back when they're not, hypothetically speaking and for entertainment purposes only. "Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant." - Sun Tzu

Learn their tactics. "Know your enemy and know yourself, find naught in fear for 100 battles. Know yourself but not your enemy, find level of loss and victory. Know thy enemy but not yourself, wallow in defeat every time." - Sun Tzu

One final point...for the love of all that is holy, LEARN the weapons and calibers of the other countries! I can guaran-damn-tee you that if the dollar does actually collapse, there *will* be blood in the streets. Americans did not have the sense of entitlement during the Great Depression that they have now. American soldiers may or may not fire on their own citizens...but I can assure you that foreign UN "peacekeepers" will.

Me? I'll likely acquiesce to US soldiers...but UN peacekeepers is a whole different ballgame.

i think the corrupt gov. is gonna keep on stepping on Americans till we do something about it...
