For an example, it's why you get depressed.
Do not use beta without alpha, or high beta.

What depressed people should not be awake?

Isnt that what depression is being Tired, trancing out thinking of past situations imaginging negative future ones, day dreaming?

All these are alpha and theta etc, the things that make the person depressed when thinking those things at that frequency.

Absolute rubbish mate dont give advise when it is not correct or just a snippet of cut of paste with no experience.

Binaural Beats of beta in certain ranges have been PROVEN to help with depression, alchohism, drug dependency and with long term incarceratted criminals to regulate mood behaviour.

Please dont give advise some people feel very sad inside and are looking for a way out besides being drugged.... dont close a door that may help them unless YOU KNOW what you spout.

Sorry for rant but have worked in mental health and know what depression can do and HAVE SEEN first hand experiences of certain binaural beats training to lift that tranced, tired, motiveless felling.

My advice would be if depressed and considering an alternative method of treatment, be open to Binaurals, only use ones that are linked with a practioner that has validated proven links to doctors who have used that technology, ie theres leave alone the monroe institute stuff if depressed until that is sorted first.

If it works give it a go if it does not dont lol simple, if epileptic or on medication check with your md first for any contra indications or other dangers.

I have seen it work where years of drugs and "therapy" has not, the medical results have shown this to so there is every liklihood it will HELP thgough I am not saying will be a magical wand without furthger inner work yourself.

Kind Regards,

Elf

Greetings all,

I need help!

A few months ago I listened to a "brainwave entertainment" audio file from the Monroe Institute. After listening to the audio file for a few minutes I became extremely uncomfortable. It felt like my head was vibrating and a strong feeling of anxiety came over me.

I shut off the audio file and splashed cold water on my face, but I still felt awful. For three weeks after that I felt like I was suffering from a concussion, each week the symptoms would lessen.

My symptoms included:

mild detachment from reality
sensitivity to light
sensitivity to loud noise
mild fear
mild anxiety
confusion
short-term memory problems
difficulty sleeping
vivid dreams
difficulty being social

It is now three months later and I only have: sensitivity to light, mild sensitivity to sound, and a slight feeling of detachment from reality.
(These symptoms become worse when drinking alcohol or when tired).

My question is: Has anyone else heard of these awful side-effects? And is there anything I can do to return back to normal?

Thank you.

- Blue Seven

I would like to offer you some advice, through my own experiences! What you have detailed is very very similar to social anxiety. Social anxiety appears out of nowhere, it is sudden and can be difficult to deal with. I would say you DONT have anything seriously wrong with you but i am not a DR, since you have been to one, i would be reassured that your fine. The derealisation, lud noises, social settings, sensitivity etc are all indictive of social anxiety.

It can be triggered by almostanything and the cause is basically unknown, although there ar etheories. I suggest you Google social anxiety. a website called www.patient.co.uk is very very good.

Isotones are the problem. I have been experiencing with binaural beats for almost 2 weeks with only positive effects. Tonight i found a site that was talking about isotones and they had one for alomost every sensation you want to exeperiment so I decided to give "adrenalline rush" a try. That was a very bad idea. After 1 minutes I had to stop listening to it because I Felt I was about to have a panic attack(been a problem for me in the past years) so I stopped and try keep control of myself which quite ironicly wasn't able to do befaure I started listening to binaurals usually, I would have to resort to anti-panick drugs(ativan in my case").

Right now I would say i'm fine. Still feeling nervous with numerous nervous "tics" like and i can feel like a shock in my head every 15 minutes or so. There is no need to tell that it was the first and last time I was exeperiencing with isotones.

I have been exploring, researching and using brainwave entrainment technology for many years. It is not for everyone and it can be extremely dangerous since many people have now started claiming that they can produce quality audios (all sorts of products have been popping up that are not even produced by true specialists). Low quality products can harm you, and you should research the topic extremely well before you take any action on it. For me, personally, brainwave entrainment has been a life saver, though... You can read some genuine information on side effects as well as guidance on how to approach the technology here:

www.brainwavelove.com...

and here: www.youtube.com...

More articles on scientific research, dangers and benefits could also be found here:www.brainwavelove.com...

Last piece of advice - gather all sorts of information, but in the end - trust your own instincts... they will show you the right path!

I joined this site to reply to this thread. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to Blue, Boat, Sanse and everyone who has participated in this thread. I have experienced the same thing! I have searched the internet the past few days and could find little concerning adverse reactions until I found this thread.

I listened to The Monroe Institute's Meditation CD with binaural beats for four weeks, 20 minutes 2 x a day for two weeks and 45 minutes two times a day for the second two weeks. At first it was great. But over time a thick brain fog came over me and my short term memory was shot. My processing became so slow that it was terrifying. I finally figured out it was the beats and I stopped listening to it six days ago. I had one day this week where my old brain came back, but then it receded back into the fog. I am similiar to Blue in that I have mild ADD. Someone suggested that in ADD parts of our brains go too fast and parts too slow. I suspect this meditation CD really slowed down my brain too much and it became like trying to think through mud (Too much Theta?).

I just listed to a Beta CD I ordered from Kelly Howell years ago that I'd forgotten about. Within twenty minutes my old brain was back. I'm not confident that this will permanently fix the problem, because, as I said, my normal brain came back this week only to slip back into the thick fog. I'm not going to over do it with the Kelly Howell CD because I don't want to create the opposite problem. That it fixed the problem, at least temporarily, in just 20 minutes reveals to me how extremely sensitive to imput my brain must be. Maybe I will listen every few days, once a week, or just if I slip back into the fog.

I will keep this thread posted. I think that is important. On other sites people post about the problem but never come back and say what was the ultimate outcome. IMO we have to help each other because the companies that produce these beats will not admit adverse reactions can happen. And if they will not admit they can happen they certainly are not helping those who have them overcome that problem. For this reason I think these products should be regulated by the FDA. I understand that adverse outcomes are rare, but they do happen.

My results weren't only bad. I typically have chronic respiratory tightness due to sensitivity to sulfites. Since most fruits and vegetables contain sulfites there is really no way around it. One of the first things I noticed after listening to the Monroe Institute CD was that this chest tightness was gone, GONE and it still is. I even ate broccoli last night, which is high in sulfur, and had no problems. Even so, for me, the problems the beats triggered in my brain far outweigh that benefit.

Blue, I'm glad you got back to normal. I'm sorry it took so long, though.

I am now nine days off TMI binaural beats CD. Unfortunately, they don't list what brain state their CDs are programmed to encourage, but I'm guessing mine was set to Theta, since it was a meditation CD, and my brain must have gotten stuck there. My experiment with countering the brain fog it triggered with Brain Sync's High Focus (Beta/Gamma) has worked wonderfully. The brain fog is pretty much gone.

I don't want to entirely give up on the beats because of the health benefit I have experienced with apparantly not having respiratory sensitivity to sulfur in food. I can't place why that would happen from listening to the beats, but I'll take it. I think I will just go low and slow and avoid using programs from companies that do not disclose what frequencies they are using. I'm now a fan of Kelly Howell's Brain Sync because it is all spelled out (whether it uses theta, gamma, beta, alpha, delta, etc). There are probably other companies that disclose, I'm just not familiar with them yet.

Hi,
Your symptoms and mine are very similar. I too listened to Brainwave Entrainment Music from MindPowermp3. I fell asleep listening to a playlist. My total listening time for one day was over an hour and I was probably listening for over a week; after which I began experiencing the same symptoms you listed.
My daughter was extremely upset over the change in me and began searching for something that would undo the damage. She found a meditation that helped more than anything else I came across and I'd like to share it with you:
www.youtube.com...

If you find any other information about this; please let me know.

thank you and blessings for your healing.

Few people know anything about this topic, and if they do, they tend to have no idea that ill side-effects are possible.

There are unwanted side effects but they will not last longer, the effect of brainwave entrainment is mild and short lived and really heavily in the placebo effect, some people will not even be susceptible to it. What you seem to be feeling is a self imposed mind-state (self hypnosis) that you convinced yourself that the effects, if you ever felt them are still there...

Meditation will help in stabilizing (mostly self hypnosis) if that fails see a hypnotist.
