Not going to read 8 pages of posts. I do want to say to the OP: You really need to do some serious research on "President Tom" of Iran before you profess your love and admiration of him. You listen to a speech and gush like you've been to a Beatles concert (peace, love, man). This is a very dangerous man despite his obvious ability to convince you otherwise. He wants to kill you and your way of life. You are obviously very young to be swayed so easily. I suggest you steer clear of the Branch Davidians. Peace and Love.

I am not professing my love or admiration for any politician, they are all swine in my opinion.
No gushing just trying to find an equal balance to what I am constantly bombarded with by American media (propaganda) and the seemingly opposite words from the horses mouth.
I am searching for the truth not biased views slanted toward invasion, war and more bloodshed.
I am not very young, wish I was. I am not easily swayed in fact if I was easily swayed I would have turned the channel when the speech began, I would not have listened, I would not have started a thread asking for different views.
I tend to stay clear of any organized religion, I believe they are all cults in sheep's clothing.
Very seriously wish it was all about peace and love man, I really do.
I look in my children's eyes and I fear for their future.
What is so wrong with peace and love? Please somebody tell me what would be so wrong with that?
Reading this thread made me realize that you could switch either sides comments and they would all be the same. You could replace regime with administration, you can replace Bush with Ahmadinejad, you can replace Ahmadinejad with Bush etc. and you still end up with the same song and dance.

I don't know what to think any more.

I remember when 9/11 happened, Iran offered its condolences (it was in the news), and our reply came four months later when our president named it as a member or a component of the famous axis of evil.

No ties between Al Qaeda and Iran though, right?

And then someone -- not a wholly reliable source (at least in the sense that he could only have gotten his info second-hand) -- told me Ahmahdinejad's famous statement about wiping Israel off the the map, which seems to be cited as often as he is mentioned in news articles and TV coverage, is a ruse. He didn't say it, my "source" tells me. Instead he supposedly said something much more innocuous like Israel would disappear into history (or something like that) as the USSR did. A much more passive view of a nation's demise, in other words.

Can anyone help me with this?

How do you get to the truth w/o learning Farsi?

Would our government and media lie to us (or be so lazy) about something like this? Why?

These people will always need an enemy to be "against." I don't think they have any perception of what life is like if they had nobody to be at odds with or fear. There will be a boogeyman for people like Tide88 or this other nutjob. Now that the United States has nearly exhausted it's use of Al Qaeda, Taliban, and Osama Bin Laden, they're going to push some whimsical tale of nuclear obliteration by some far off nation. They live in a world where being reactionary to fear is the only stability; the only constant they have.

They hate a man for virtually no reason. They fear a man that is 5' 3" and lives 7,500 miles away. A president on the outs with his people. A president that has never given us a reason to attack or even posture. They hate him because they do not know. They are so incredibly dumb, they will eat what they are fed without questioning what it is. No IAEA, CIA/FBI, or UN report saying "They are well within the guidelines of nuclear energy" will convince these idiots that what Iran is doing is not illegal, it is not deadly to us, and their intent is just the same as Pakistan, India, Israel, etc... They are one of the strongest nations in the Middle East and deserve to do whatever they feel like. They are a free nation. We do not make the rules and shouldn't for any other country. By doing so we are not allowing them democracy, but enforcing a type of fascist order against them.

The only nation in that Area that has used aggressive measures since 1960's has been Israel. Their confrontation with Lebanon after two commandos were caught behind Lebanese lines. They decimated the infrastructure of an entire city because two of their commandos were caught in Lebanese territory? How does that make sense? They also were reported using a first strike capability in Syria without any hostility from the country they attacked. The IAEA is also disallowed from entering any Israeli nuclear site without out strict guidelines and a time stable of when, why, and where. You're talking about Iranian discrepancies regarding stalls or incomplete information, but we're giving billions of dollars yearly to a country who after 50 years with a nuclear weapons (not energy) program has been the least regulated in the entire world. While, the IAEA wants to know how many times Iran's workers sneeze in a plant.

Iran is not innocent. Mahmoud is probably just as slick as any other politician. Most of America's issues come from not his personal decisions, but the culture clash that happens when we try to align our own culture's values and principles with theirs. We are worlds apart, but America can't wrap their head around that one. It's mind boggling to think that the world is not on the same page regarding homosexuals, adultery, or thievery, but that is not the culture in which we live in. America is in no shape what so ever to pass judgment on the cruel and unusual policies another nation holds over it's own. We were founded on killing innocent women for being witches and the genocide of an entire native peoples. As America has grown into itself (and is still a toddler), we need to let a country who's only truly had since 1979 to establish their Republic.

I can't see any justification for some backwards uniformed idiot to be demanding socio political policies in a country that he's never been, "or else." It's so "Team America" it's makes me gag.

These men who are defacing Iran for no credible and only irrelevant reasons will back Israel up 100%. Not because they care about the facts or the people, but because they have been told that is what they should do. It's American stupidity at it's best, and I hope you won't bow to wastes of time that are so out of touch with what is real and what is right.

People are dreadfully dumb, as you're on the right path backed by evidence, the International Atomic Energy Agency, our own FBI/CIA, and everybody else that has investigated their nuclear achievements. Do they care? No, they could careless, because they're just jumping when told to jump.

They are forum trolls on ATS and trolls in life. Doing what they're told, listening to what they're told to listen to, and ready to grab the pitch fork and torch when the government says "we found a new bad guy."

I wouldn't get too worked up about it, SWUD.

I was watching it on cnn they only showed parts of it not the whole thing. They were mostly showing the meeting with the federal reserve talking about our economy.

Iran president is also restricted on moving anywhere in the U.S he could only be in new york.

He did give a good speech. You should of seen the larry king interview with him.

I also do agree that America is not Satan but we do have alot of people in our country that are very very greedy.

I do think builder burg has more to do with all this.

We do have congress now fighting against the 700 billion bail out. They even tried changing some stuff in a way that who ever pays taxes they get a certain amount of shares in the company. The treasury disagreed with it..

I mean it makes sense why not give us shares in the company it seems like someone wants to get a good pay day.

also aig and the others we bailed out are getting investigated for possible fraud .

wow.... so you think the Iran president wants the world to end??? why would you think of such a thing.

If he really wanted the world to end he would of started a war right now.

Yet Iran didn't start any war. But bush already has??? what makes Bush so like a angle that just found the devil?????

have you not seen true footage of Iraq??? kids being killed on cross fire combat???

we killed saddam and for what??? he didn't have weapons of mass destruction's.

He didn't kill his own people for his own amusement he killed a village because they know someone in the village started to work for the U.S to spy against Saddam. So they threw tear gas in that village..

I have heard U.S generals were in the place where Saddam was hugged. an Iraqi brought a cellphone to the place to take pics of Saddam and U.S general told him to get out no cameras or phones allowed.

So if you think Iran is the devil. I would ask you why??? how does Iran seem to be the devil???

If he was that sinister then you would see alot of wars with him and also him stirring up trouble.

I only think you think he is a devil because you just watched cnn and many American stations.

In that cnn interview he told us that the U.S media shows Iran to be nothing but desert and poor looking he said it's not true and invited larry king and all the Media to Iran because he said they are highly advanced and has been developed.

SO I don't think the Iran president is the devil. The only devil there is are the builder burg members that hijacked America. I have heard bush is part of it.

I already do think our country got sold out by bush for signing our country away to form the American Union.

They already have prototypes of the currency being made right now called the ameros.

The reason I say Iran is not the devil well look at bush on what he done. He went into Iraq without congress approval. He done so many illegal things but he is not the only one that wanted the war I believe he was more pushed to agree with people behind the scenes.

I do believe that congress has really no clue what is really going on and most don't believe in builder burg, I believe that Ron Paul at least know something.

I would say that Bush done more bad things then the Iranian president so why should Iranian president be called the devil????

wow??? tell me how is Iran president the new Hitler???

I mean if you told us and the op to do our research then what research have you done???

I would love to see what research you done prove me wrong that Iran president is not the next Hitler.

In my view Bush has done more wrong things that the Iranian president.

I have listen to his interview on cnn and he told us that when the U.S was invading Iraq they had ask Iran to join in to get revenge because of Saddam having a war with Iran in the past.

He said that he refused. So I am comparing Bush to Iranian president and I find that bush has done way more wrong things then the Iranian president.

Really prove to us that Iranian President is the next Hitler..

If he really was this sinister he would of started the war already he would of attacked Israel by now and would be attacked by the U.S and Israel.

That"s if he was pure evil and wanted everyone to die because he just plain out hates people and life and wants to destroy it.

So plain out I disagree with your statement since there is really nothing in it to convince me to believe that Iranian president is the next Hitler.

I love people like you. Insulting me because I have an opinion, agree with our government, or disagree with you. You believe everything our government does is evil. You believe it is all part of a new world order. You believe I have been brainwashed by our news media and government to believe whatever they say. So you insult and call me and others who disagree with you idiots. I question many things our government does and says. Of course maybe you live in Iran and know more about this situation then I do or our government. Maybe you are part of a foreign intelligence agency. Maybe you have an inside source within our government or the media who has given you some proof of an overall conspiracy. Or maybe you are just some conspiracy kook that believes whatever the US Government does is always evil. That they are always invading countries for oil or other reasons. Why did we fight in WWII? Was that some sort of government conspiracy. How about Vietnam? Did we want to steal their rainforests. I mean we invaded Iraq for oil right? Wow, thankgod we did that. Look how low oil prices are now. I love all you who think that our govenment is so evil and corrupt, but all you do is post on these wacky conspiracy forums. If our government is so evil, do something about it. According to most posters on this website the US has been corrupt since inception, or at the very least the Civil War. Well, I for one love this country and it has afforded me many opportunities. I have made the best of them. Do I agree with all the political decisions the US has made? No. Do I agree with a lot of them? Yes. And the sheep thing is getting out of hand. There are so many sheep on this board that blindly believe anything an OP says it is pathetic. Then they call people, the 10%, that have a different views sheep. Look at any thread. Even the most rediculous threads have an agreement rate of 95%. There are more statistical sheep on this site then anywhere in the world. Of course according to you I am just an idiot who blindly believes whatever the government says. That I am a person who needs to hate. Who needs an enemy to fight. Wow, you must be the idiot. Because you know nothing about me and came to a completely false conclusion. Kinda makes one wonder if you know anything.
I put more money on, YOU DONT.

First you implied he is not that bad of a guy. Now he just changed into a good guy. Bottom line is I don't trust him. Not because of the MSM, or because of Bush, but because all the rhetoric he has stated in the past. I am not comfortable at all what he says about the holocaust. If you don't want it to be fact fine you debate it with me. That's just as insulting as telling a black man that slavery it was just a myth.

Iran has a track record of not being so nice. They kill their citizens for adultery. They have a popular sitcom depicting a jewish doctor murderingmuslim children, when they depict America, they sometimes show the statue of liberty being destroyed. None of the things i just mentioned seems loving to me. So he did lip service to the UN, so now he is some how on the higher moral ground then the US? Come on give me a break.

All in all nice speech from Mahmud Ahmadinejad. All the words I've seen him saying through television (expect perhaps that gay comment that in Iran there are none) have been wise and insightful. In my books he is far greater politician than I can see sitting opposite of the desk.

For those who slant that islamofobic crap, cut it. He nor other decent muslims are not imposing Islam to others, it is just few sects that are, like there are few such christian sects that we all aknnowledge. What comes to these aggressive muslim forces, can't you understand that they are mere results of hundred of years of oppression of 'western civilizations'. They are the counterforce, and those that were provoking the violence at first hand are to be blamed of it.

In general, removing the islamic "touch" from Ahmadinejad's speech, it was very wise and generally quite gnostic. He was talking about all religions, not just Islam. Many of you will say that he is just talking, while he does different things. How do you think that one rules a country anyway? There are troublesome sects in almost every country and Iran is not an exception and Ahmadinejad knows this altho he can't really say it - otherwise he would lose his presidency. He just like others, needs to dance on the razor edge of wrong and right; he must do what he can to satisfy all the power blocks. But despite that I prefer him as a sound politician.

I do not claim to know that I know how things are. No, but it appears to me that Iran is not blamed exlusively in this conflict. IMO western powers are ones to blame; they should immediately give some concessions to those oppressed countries and withdraw some of their influence on the region.

But I unfortunately am not very confident that anything on western powers will change before it is too late for them. They will most likely continue on the path to war, but it will not be one to favor them

Sincerely,

-v
