One ugly aircraft, in my opinion...

my wife thought it looked like a sting ray

X-32 and X-35 look really ugly. I can understand that they were designed that way for aerodynamics, but they really aren't that appealing to the eye, in my opinion. I mean, the X-32 has that huge air intake and it looks quite out of proportion, like a gaping yaw ready to ....ah nevermind....

My compatriot, Richard Pearse would be interested in how far his invention has come.

I guess I'm the odd one out who thinks the X-32 is beautiful. It was different, but probably not menacing enough. The 35 is just generic looking.

Does anyone else feel sad to see such spectacular machines wasting away?

I do. I've been to several air museums that have rare and beautiful aircraft on display. Many of which have no protection from the elements. I guess it's funding that keeps these sexy birds in disarray. I just hope they don't rust away for ever.
