Did George Lucas have insider information? (He's very close to Stephen Spielberg who seems to have a lot to say about alternative topics.)
Or do his two trilogies simply portray the worst case scenario for democracy coincidentally?
Either way the similarities between the galactic democracy and yesterday's America cannot be denied. The democratically-elected Chancellor connives
to make events unfold which can only lead to him being granted emergency powers. Many believe the Bush Administration permitted/coordinated the 9/11
attacks & subsequent disasters, which has allowed legislation like the Patriot Act and today's draft Bailout Bill ( outlined here:
Frightening!!!!!! Draft Bailout Bill ) which give more & more power to One Man. The
Supreme Leader can now bypass the Constitution and declare Marshall Law.
How long is it before the word "Rebels" will be used for people who stand up for democracy?
In George Lucas' epic trilogies the Emperor is able to announce a dissolution of the Senate and the Creation of a Galactic Empire in full view of
everyone, without Senate opposition. Can anyone see a prophetic parallel?
Any comments from LucasFilm - or the man himself - would be gratefully accepted.

I believe, if memory serves me, he modeled the storylines of the original trilogy on the Fall of the Roman Republic and the institution of the
Principate era which was ushered in by Octavian.

Thanks for that information. It says a lot. History repeating itself and all that.
What makes this relevant now is that the whole scenario appears to be unfolding before our very eyes.
The evidence is all over ATS today. E.g.
Prepare for a National Emergency and Marshall Law
Which includes the following:
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the International
Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.) (IEEPA), the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.) (NEA), and section 301 of title
3, United States Code,
I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, find that the current existence and risk of the proliferation of weapons-usable fissile
material on the Korean Peninsula constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States, and
I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat.
and
By next week, sheriff’s deputies will institute martial law, forcing remaining residents out of the area.
Transportation to the area is cut off. The Bolivar Ferry will be down for months. There is no estimate on when the service will return.
in this post.
The time is now. Not in a galaxy far, far away.
Can we gain insights into what is to come from knowledge of the films?

the most interesting thing about star wars is that john c lily the man who pretty much invented mindcontrol and brainwashing(before he turned good),
was g lucas's consultant for star wars from the beggining.
john c lily often talked of experiences with higher beings ,who he believed controled our world.he also talked of of a force he likened to satan who
was responsible for all the suffering on earth, who i believe is responsible for the constant depopulation of mankind for it percieves mankind to be a
threat in the future.

George Lucas has stated that many historical events have been used in the Star Wars saga, for example, that the Empire was based on Hitler's Third
Reich.
*The storm troopers from the movies share a name with the Nazi stormtroopers
*The imperial officers' uniforms also resemble some (historical) German Army uniforms. In addition, some World War II terms may have been used for
names in Star Wars; examples include the planets Kessel (a term that refers to a group of encircled forces) and Hoth (Hermann Hoth was a German
general).
Palpatine's rise to power: The Emperor, like Hitler, originally served as a minor functionary, but after sowing the seeds of discord against the
enemy faction (Confederacy in Star Wars, Allied Powers in real life), he was given "emergency powers" to make things "right. He subsequently abused
these powers, declaring himself Emperor. Interestingly, Hitler declared himself "Chancellor," which was Palpatine's original title.

he worked for the us military before then and developed many a mind control and brainwashing technique for them.he realised the error of his ways and
turned good after a while, during the 60's-this is how we remember him,but we must remember his career started in the early 40's.
the reason you dont hear about it is most of its classified and he was ashamed of what he did so he kept it hidden.
