This thread is in direct correlation to the "Does anyone think McCain has a chance?" thread. It hasn't been shut down, (yet) so this should counter it and provide good reasons why Obama still has a chance to win or not.

I don't think Obama has a chance. Here's why.

1. The last Democrat elected to the Presidency was Bill Clinton, and he ran on a "New Democrat" platform. He fooled people into thinking he was more moderate, and actually a little more conservative than traditional Democrats. Clinton fooled us, but with Obama there is no chance anyone will be fooled. Not with his high liberal ratings in the Senate.

2. The Hillary factor. Hillary supporters feel shunned, and feel they where robbed of the nomination. If just 20% of her voters stay home, and another 20% voting for McCain, this means Obama loses.

3. The Bradley Effect. I feel polls are close because people that are being polled don't want to seem racist so they tell pollsters they are voting for Obama, but on election day they will do the exact opposite.

4. The Vice-President factor. Obama has been campaigning for change, then selects Joe Biden for his VP. Not only did McCain bring in a "change" VP President, but he poured salt into the wound of disenfranchised Hillary voters, by selecting a woman for VP.

5. The long election season. Primaries started earlier than ever this year. Obama started out fast, and the novelty is wearing off over time. He peaked way to early.

6. Youth vote. Every election the Democrats push hard for the youth vote, and every election they let them down.

7. The vocal elite. Hollywood, Rock Stars, College Professors, World Leaders are all very vocal in their support of Obama. Most Americans don't like opinions from these people and their support will backfire. Like Puff Diddy Daddy Sean Combs is going to scare people to vote for Obama (Vote Obama or die).

Add all of these reasons up and I don't see how Obama stands a chance.

McCain becoming president is horrifying, anybody who believes / wants McCain are the very wealthy, big corporations and the stupid. If it happens I will be moving to another country, the future of ths country will be sold on Ebay by Palin.

Thanks maxzen! For adding 1 more reason why Obama doesn't have a chance.

Obama will win, book it. After Obama and Biden exposes those two frauds in the upcoming debates, it will be a no brainer.

I think Obama will win, Palin looks more presidential than McCain. McCain looks crusty with the big lump on his face.

wow that is so wrong in so many ways.
i guarantee you that neither Obama or Biden would have been able to survive what McCain endure.

I hope Obama wins, but what I don't understand is that if 75% of people in this country are not happy with this administration, why are the polls so close? We cannot afford another administration like this one. I am not sure that McCain winning would mean four more years of the same, but I don't want to take the chance. As for Palin, I watched her interviews and I was mesmerized! Like a kid watching Spongbob. I totally zoned out and just felt mesmerized. I didn't even really hear what she was saying, it was almost like she was a cult leader or something. I can't explain it, but I was just in a trance. I think she would make a very good teacher or preacher for that matter, her speaking style had me in a zone. Maybe that's why so many people like her, they don't know her, or care to figure out who she really is, they just get mesmerized when she speaks. But hey, that's just me, and it's not an opinion, it's FACT, that chick pulled a Jedi mind trick on me.

Exactly he wants to suffer more, he agreed with Bush 90% of the time.

Don't you get it or maybe you can't get over the color?

If it's color, I'm sorry.

I'm curious. Why do people say if so and so wins the presidency they'll be leaving the country? To what end? Would it really be so much better?

Make sure you take Alec Baldwin and Barbara Streisand with you if you go.

At least if Obama wins, he might still give us healthcare and welfare when our jobs are all lost, and we are on the streets because the economy crashed.

We cannot afford the bailouts and perpetual wars. I think that if it's true McCain is going to Washington to fight these bail-outs, he will win. Just like that.

People are so upset at everything going on, that would be a big fight, that looks like it is FOR THE PEOPLE..

Honestly I don't think too many people mind his "high liberal ratings". When you say Clinton fooled you, do you mean you voted for him? People wanted a democrat in '92. They got one and he did a great job, far better than our current president is doing. Now people want a democrat again.

2. The Hillary factor. Hillary supporters feel shunned, and feel they where robbed of the nomination. If just 20% of her voters stay home, and another 20% voting for McCain, this means Obama loses.

It's kind of a stretch to say that 20% of voters are die-hard Hillary supporters who would rather vote for McCain out of spite than Obama. I would say that most of Hillary's supporters will in the end pick the candidate that most supports their views, not the candidate who picked a woman just to try and pander to those same voters.

3. The Bradley Effect. I feel polls are close because people that are being polled don't want to seem racist so they tell pollsters they are voting for Obama, but on election day they will do the exact opposite.

I don't even want to comment on this one..

4. The Vice-President factor. Obama has been campaigning for change, then selects Joe Biden for his VP. Not only did McCain bring in a "change" VP President, but he poured salt into the wound of disenfranchised Hillary voters, by selecting a woman for VP.

Palin may have won women over with her recent appearances but as time goes on more and more will realize that McCain picked Palin solely because she is a woman and that she is far from capable of running the country in the (likely) even McCain will be unable to fulfill his duties.

5. The long election season. Primaries started earlier than ever this year. Obama started out fast, and the novelty is wearing off over time. He peaked way to early.

I'll give you this one, Obama came in extremely strong but now his luster is beginning to fade a bit. However I feel the exact same thing will happen with Palin, who seems to be the center of attention at the moment.

6. Youth vote. Every election the Democrats push hard for the youth vote, and every election they let them down.

Obama's got the youth vote. I don't exactly know how the dems have let the youth down in the past, but the great thing about the youth, they're replaced every 10 years or so. The only presidents the young voters going to the polls this November remember are Clinton and Bush, and even kids can figure out which one of them did their job better.

I don't see how extra exposure can hurt a candidate. Maybe if the voter absolutely hates P diddy or Matt Damon or whoever they would vote the other way out of spite, but I'd like to believe most people are firm enough in their convictions to make up their own mind about politics. I could be wrong, though.

I honestly believe that once the Debates come about Obama will start to take a bigger lead. McCain has proven time and again that he is bumbling and indecisive when he speaks. Palin is not going to be able to make it up for him.

Anyway to each his own, but I believe both candidates stand a good chance, Obama just has the edge.. you know.. politically.

Anyone who uses the 'agreed with Bush 90% of the time' hasn't done their homework and is just regurgitating what Obama and Biden are spoon-feeding them.

If you don't like McCain, at least find some FACTS to use when you express your dislike for him. Spouting out things that are wrong only make you look ignorant.

I hope that Obama doesn't have a chance but when I read posts of people that are actually buying into the things he's telling them without doing their own research to see that it's a bunch of bogus, it scares me.

Palin doesn't mesmerize me at all so I'm confused by the poster above who doesn't hear what she says and just zones out. We all react to things differently so maybe Palin has some sort of hynotic effect on some people but definitly not all people.

www.barackobama.com... - Senator Obama's Economic Plan

www.johnmccain.com... - Senator McCain's Economic Plan.

www.ronpaul.com... - Congressman Ron Paul's Economic Plan.

To pull excerpts from either would be to put my own spin on it, as I could easily select factual quotes from either that, properly arranged, would infer something different from what the candidates actually say. This is a tactic employed by MSM, by individuals, by the candidates and their supporters. I won't resort to it, but the temptation is great.

Read. Decide who, if any, you believe. Then, tackle the other issues yourself, apart from the novelty of feeling part of a concensus. This is my suggestion for everyone who enjoys the priviledge of casting a vote in the Presidential election of the United States of America.

Of course he has a chance. The only reason this thread was started was to get a lot of people saying he doesn't.

The mere thought of Sarah Palin in the White House is enough to scare people into voting for him.

It's okay, though, for the McCain folks to get complacent. You guys just rest a little and don't worry about a thing.

Obama has most of the media at his back (free ads).

Obama has the support of elites of all kinds, from Hollywood stars to former Fannie Mae CEO's, yet many people think he is for the average American.

I would be very surprised if Obama loses. Anyone with half a brain should be able to win with the kind of unquestioning support Obama has.

Its the "blame the media" again hey? Maybe McCain shouldnt be such a hypocrite by hiring the most inexperienced VP in history....... maybe he shouldnt say the "economy is fundalmentally sound" during what is the worst financial crises in decades, or maybe McCain should avoid being blasted by the Wall street journal, a pro-conservative economist news outlet, or maybe maybe McCain should figure out howmany houses he has before he goes blaming his buddies for the past 20years for this mess.

To put it simply, maybe McCain should cut being such a liar, a hypocrite and a gaffe machine... maybe then the media might actually giving him some positive views. Maybe then conservatives will have no need to make excuses.

Obama has the support of elites of all kinds,

What? Like giving those who earn above $250,000 more tax breaks while the middle to lower class have to suffer? How about him defending his wealthy buddies during the 90s for corruption charges? Then make an excuse that its some "trickle down effect"...?? mmmm that must be McCain your talking about....

Hey maybe these "elitests" your refering to are McCains 50 lobbyists who having been hanging out with him during his campaign??.. One of them, Charlie black, is a lobbyist with $50 million in the pocket after giving a good word in congress for some of his big business-oil buddies over the last 10years....

Elitists as in somebody who cant count howmany houses? Or maybe somebody who calls the economy "Fundamentally Sound " because he certainly cant feel the negative economic effects, his got plenty of cash around.

Elistists? Whats you definition of elitists Wuton? Somebody on the opposite spectrum of your political standing? I dont think its like that buddy.

from Hollywood stars to former Fannie Mae CEO's

People who earn above the $250,000 line who Obama intends to raise taxes for? Actors who dont know Obama personally? Actors/ Actresses who are giving in their PERSONAL opinion? Please..... if this is all you can come up with to cover McCains connection to the "old guard" top dogs then im afriad it isnt working and McCains not doing a good job covering it up.

yet many people think he is for the average American.

I want you to ask yourself why they believe Obama is an "average american" in your opinion and McCain is not.

I would be very surprised if Obama loses.

Oh being an Obama supporter I hope so, but im also realistic of the many factors against him. Anything can happen in this election my friend... we saw this in the 2000 and 2004 elections.

Anyone with half a brain should be able to win with the kind of unquestioning support Obama has.

The kind of question where one accuses him of being a muslim without actually asking him?

The kind of questions that are rhetorical? They are not really questions, their just some illusional fairness coming from rightwingers like O'rielly to get his twisted bias message across.

The kind of questions where they have nothing really to do with policies, the questions that are really just personal. The questions rightwingers 95% of the time give.. instead of actually taking the opportunity to ask of real issues.

Don't worry man, I'm on your side. I know Obama doesn't have a chance. The only reason people think he does is because the peopel that are going to vote for him yell it from the top of the mountain, while Mccain voters stay quiet. Mainly because when you mention that you're voting for Mcain you're immediately attacked by the Left on personal levels, based on assumptions of character. And by that time we've stop talking about the issues because we have to defend ourselves against these attacks.

Obama says some pretty words, and weaves a rather beautiful web. But if Obama came into office it would come with a heavy price. All the things he wants to enact need to be paid for and would require a raise in taxes. Not once have I hear him talk about an actual balancing of the budget. And who will pay for things such as universal healthcare for all people living in this country?(Citizen or not.) The American people. Lets not dismiss the fact that 84% of Americans have healthcare all ready. But will any of these libs got out and try to find otherwise? No. They'll immediately say I'm wrong without any investigation on their part.

Thank god the people that actually pay attention, look further then what the Right bias media tells them, and investigates issues further are a quiet majority. This is why Obama doesn't have a chance. The polls that Obama lovers loved waving around when he was leading are tipping in a different direction. Lets not forget, most of these poll are from university type factions, which are also Lefty controlled. How many people -don't- take these polls? And can we actually say the represent the rest of the country?

Obama doesn't have a chance because, unlike what some ignorant people think, Democrats all ready control Congress. They were given a chance to actually change things when Pelosi became Speaker. (Ask her about the carbon footprint her nice, fatty jet leaves whenever she closes congress for a vacation.) We listened to her issues and gave her and the Democrats a chance. They didn't follow through on their word. Since then, gas prices have doubled and unemployment has gone up 2%.

I know what you're saying. "When the Dems do try to pass something, Bush shoots it down." Thats good and all. But we aren't voting between Barak Obama And G. Bush. And as much as the Left like -saying- Mccain is just another Bush, he really isn't. Saying 'Bush ruined America' isn't a reason to vote Obama over Mccain. They just chose to not look at the facts that prove otherwise. God forbid something proves you wrong and you have to change your views.

Obama doesn't have a chance because we're sick of it. Atleast the Republicans don't try to play to the uninformed masses by making promises to them they can't keep. The Democrats, on the big issues, try to pass too many acts that they all ready know will be shot down. And this is a waste of time. We informed people are sick of it, and we're sick of the Democrats empty, futile promises. We live in a country where there are two sides. And you Democrats cry when you don't get your way, and claim its unfare that people voted against you. And I'd like to once more say that you cannot blame the entire Republican party because, when something does pass, the President takes it u

We, the quiet, informed majority will not let the the loud, outspoken minority continue on their self destructive socialist path. Obama will sell America out to the world, pandering to everyone elses problems but our own. We see whats going on and we won't let it happen. Not to mention, no one wants an America hating wench as a First Lady.

These are -some- of the reasons Obama wont win.

-Sits back and waits to be quoted, so some lib can say some irrelevant statement that, once looked into, will be proven false.-

If all the jobs are lost and the economy crashes, no, Obama won't provide health care or any other support because it's not Obama providing it, it's the american people taxed on their earnings and purchases and investments who pay for everything and anything.

One of the big problems with all his promises about what he will do is that people don't realise he's actually saying "let me spend your money for you - I'm smarter than you."
