I think the best approach to Iran is to let our Europeans FRIENDS know that we will for the time being no longer worry about Iran. That is up to them to confront Iran. Iran is a bigger threat to Europe than us at this moment. I think we should then turn around and let Iran know of our intentions to lay back and give them this warning, if you Iran threaten us, harass or attack our ships, sponsor any terrorism against us we will be willing to respond in kind with everything we have if necessary. I think we should then tell Israel that they have the right to defend themselves but that if they go into Iran they are on their own. If we did this I am sure that the Europeans would take a different approach to Iran and Israel wouldn't have to worry about Iran's threat. As it is now Europe is using us to be the bad guys while they continue to do business as usual with Iran. It is time for them to take the lead. Iran with nukes could affect Europe more than us at this time.

Wow! I wish you were president. Thats the problem Isn't it. Since when has America ever kept their nose out of other peoples business? America see's itself as the rulers of the earth- or earths police force. Sometimes its a good thing, usually its bad! Its simply not in their nature to take a back seat and live and let live. If you can't do the bombing then nobody else can either, which is evident the way that America refuses to let Israel defend itself for fear of upsetting the other wealthy arab nations, especially Saudi Arabia, who are lining Bush and his cohorts pockets with gold!

Bomb a country that hasn't attacked Israel.. thats great more murders.. remember you can't fight fire with fire.. if Israel goes thru with this the repuccussions would be severe for Israel.. Israel is surround by Arab nations and Russia would back Iran...even if the U.S got involved.. so essentially what you are calling for is a nuclear war... and the chances of Israel being wiped off the map would be considerably higher if Israel attacks.. Be careful what you wish for... for you just might get it.

Friend, there's no such thing as 100% certainty until it's too late. And most of our costs have been oriented toward setting up the infrastructure in these two countries. Believe me, we won't be rebuilding a cotton-picking thing in Iran.

Right now our military is getting lots of practical war experience, we are gaining thousands of battle tested NCO's, we are getting real-world feedback on our weapons systems, and we are already in the neighborhood.

I'll be perfectly honest. Our generals, unlike Israeli generals, don't know their trade. Our generals are administrators and logistic specialists which we could get from Wal-Mart or UPS. Our generals can't lead a battle. They aren't anywhere near a battlefield. All they can do is point. A military is supposed to be a war machine, which means quick, overwhelming force of arms. No niceties, no such thing as the term "collateral damage." The military is not a police force, nation builders, ambassadors of goodwill, and certainly not to be tasked with winning hearts and minds. You want their hearts and minds, you grab 'em by the gonads, and you have everything you need.

If we had performed in a military manner, immediately after the fall of the Iraqi military, we would have disengaged and maneuvered in the distant desert, ready to strike if necessary.

(Same thing in Iran. Properly outfitted and supported by air, 20,000 men can run amok throughout the large country of Iran, and make the 10,000 of Zenophone look like amateur hour.)

This roaming army in the distant Iraqi desert would certainly have threatened Syria, and scared the crap out of Iran. For good reason.

No, Israel can do it. Russia won't lift a finger because it will be over before anyone has a 100% proof that Israel is going to do anything. Besides, any nuclear weapons targeting Iran, properly dispatched, cannot be traced back to any country of origin. After all, it could have been an in-country nuclear accident! Or Sunni versus Shia, or Moderates versus fundamentalists. You don't have to take them out head on. Sneak around where no one is looking and take the back of their head out.

Did you notice a while back when a number of nuclear weapons were being transported across the country, and accidentally discovered? Could un-inventoried weapons be launched from a tramp steamer in the Indian Ocean? And then abandoned? You better believe it. Who fired these nukes? Take your pick. But as you seem to determine is the defining criteria, no one could prove this with 100% certainty.

Besides, if there is truth in the Old and New Testaments, then Israel is here to stay. No matter what enemies array themselves against them, no matter how powerful. I know I'll get crap over that, but it's as plain spoken as day.
