Due to some replies that have offended the meaning of the word "freedom", I would just like to say that, to me, that word is synonymous, or should be, to "Internet".

Thus, the Internet, in my opinion, should be about freedom. This means freedom for ALL, be they pedo, be they communists, sado, sex maniacs, or whatever...

Once you start to regulate, and to stigmatize a group of people, what follows?
- Extreme political views start to get banned?
- Certain religions get banned?
- Non conformist life styles get banned?
- Certain tipes of art, music and videos get banned?

It seems to me that some people want to turn the Internet into just another mainstream news/entertainment medium...
Looks like some, that are always crying wolf, say nothing when widespread censorship is being tried on some members of our planet.

Once you give somebody the power to censure information, even if some consider it to be criminal information, that institution will keep on censuring, ever greater numbers of people.

The Internet is now, already, a pale, blurred, reflection of what it was ten years ago. I hope that in the next ten it will not be turned into another medium for someone's, or some culture's, agenda. I fear that it will, if it already hasn't...
Fortunately some people, like Anonymous, are here to make sure this doesn't happen. As for the Sheepish, that one day cry wolf, and another day cry in favor of censorship, sell your computers and leave the net alone...

This is Freedom people...and many of you seem to be afraid of it, or threatened by it. Seems to me a lot of BS....
Only a very restricted number of people deserve freedom, the majority, as seen throwout the NET, only want "freedom" for their views...

LONG LIFE TO ANONYMOUS ("he" is all of us)
LONG LIFE TO TOTAL FREEDOM AND CHAOS

What is the actual purpose, or goals of this "annon" group?

And why exactly did Bill O'Riely even know about these people.. just seems to be they would be more obscure you know?

Well, whatya know...they actually made something happen and maybe taught some people a few things in the process(like not using the same password for everything).
I can't handle the o'really, but watched both clips on wikileaks(well, one and a half) and that guy just makes my stomach somersault. Like nails on a chalkboard and he's oh, so rude to his gracious and informative guests.
When his guests aren't totally in-line with his view, he's like a little kid with his fingers in his ears doing the "la la la la, I can't hear you!" thing. Cuts em off mid-sentence when they are clearly making a valid point...dude, SHUT UP!!!

Nice one anon.

Bill and anyone who subscribes to his bile can lap it up. Cheers to wikileaks for giving him the "finger" as well. Bill clearly doesn't know what he's talking about.

I'm not saying I condone anarchy, chaos or a lawless society, but it's about time the capable got their message out...again. heheh.

I kinda feel bad for the guy that's gonna take it for the email hack. While he did know the risks, I believe he felt like he was doing the right thing at the time.

There are a huge amount of scumbags in Anonymous. The Scientology fighting offshoot can try and re-write history, but they should just realize they are descended from perverts and weirdos. The chan sites were blacklisted in my country due to the sheer amount of disgusting content.

People from Anonymous who get angry about everyone ignoring rules 1&2, ask moot to stop giving interviews about it with Time magazine and others, his current promotion has been very effective.

Watching 4chans /b/ is pretty pointless, it's very rare anything gets going in there, you need to go to the other /b/'s, and the /i/'s, and the IRC. Anonymous has a vast network covering many sites and channels, 4chan /b/ is like the public face.

To all anonymous out there, lulz, you are about to be v&, your mods always give up your IPs.

Keep reading the other posts in the latest threads considering anon's activities as of late.
There's a pretty comprehensive rundown on wikipedia somewhere also...just look for the "anonymous" wiki page with all the masked activists protesting scientology.

(are you kidding me ATS??? scientology isn't spelled correctly unless the S is capitalized? I refuse to capitalize the S...I protest!)

There must be a lot of groups that are referred to as "anonymous".

I seriously doubt the same group of "anonymous" that would like to see people not controlled by religions or would like to put more truth on our mainstream medias, would stick up for disgusting porn sites.

Somebody is going to get fired over this. I strongly disagree with anon doing this, but the passwords were available in plain text, not even hashed, and they were able to just guess a webpage to try to find it!

They hacked O'Reilly's site and retrieved the personal information of premium members who'd signed-in in the previous 72 hours and then posted that information to some political website.

www.pcworld.com...

This trend is going to wind up hurting everyone who uses the internet, I fear.

I guess you have to be in a certain social network to know all the terms used for the groups in that network...
Many years ago I fought against a site who was putting up images I thought were horrible and I ended up being a victim, myself, of some unseen jerk's abuse. That name "anonymous" wasn't used to describe a group then but was used for anyone who didn't want their real name exposed on a website. Most people, and I do mean most, not just in this certain network, know the word "anonymous" to mean just that.

Basic social psychology my friend. Everyone would do good to take it
in college. I did, made an A. There are 4 things you can say about
someone that will be believed without evidence immediately.

1. This persons a pedo.

2. This persons a wife beater.

3. This person is a rapist.

4. This person does drugs.

Welcome to the world of the REAL.

Also, I was on 4chan yesterday and someone posted Bill O'Rielly's home address and his Mortgage information. I guess it is all public information, but still.. they are opening a can of worms.

What do you suppose accusing someone of being involved in any way, even at the farthest periphery, with child pornography. Most people never recover from a thing like that whether it turns out to be true or not. If you doubt it, just have a friend tell all your neighbors you have child porn on your computer. Surely in court you will be declared innocent. See if the life you return to is worthy of posting legally obtained public info about someone on the internet to embarass them back. All of that info is available to anyone with a computer and internet access. All they are doing is poking the bear that falsely attempted to permanently ruin how many lives with that sick slander?

lol, wrong! Being controlled by a religion and having your brain controlled by dogma is EXACTLY the same thing as being controlled by mass media and also EXACTLY the same thing as being controlled by some faux morals - if two women wants to get filmed eating poo then why not? just because you've decided it's 'wrong' means that everyone has to aggree?

We've been forced to think in a certain way, brainwashed into thinking we know what's right and whats 'just wrong' -Apparently the good things include 'hard work, reliability and respect for authority' -Hmmmm i wonder who it benifits for us to think this way?!?

Slowly eyes are opening, slowly minds are waking up but still people stay constrained by so many of these strange metaphysical prisons they've created for themselves - The people who are free of these shackles and can think without blinkers have places to meet, ATS is where those who are in the process of breaking free from the MSM collect while chan is where those who are breaking free of #ahem# 'moralfaggotry' enevitably find themselves.

Love anon

Actually, I read in the news that there are actually sex cults that use kids.
It's not so unbelievable, not very understandable, but not unbelievable.

so your saying anonymous is a child sex cult?

it is unbelievable because anonymous and 4chan users combined into one entity as the media seems to believe it is is no more a child sex cult then it is a terrorist organisation able to access uranium to make dirty bombs

are we talking about the sex clubs mentioned in the paper ... no were talking about a specific group of people

and as this has shown the media and Oprah dont have a clue about the whole 4chan/anonymous so how do you know they wernbt wrong about those actual child sex groups

well, they did not disappoint! As others have already posted, they got into the admin of Bill's site, and posted premium members info to the public domain:

peterrost.blogspot.com...

According to our source, the security protecting O'Reilly's site and subscribers was "non-existent". The following image, submitted to Wikileaks and confirmed by Wikileaksstaff, offers proof of the hack. The image, clearly obtained from Bill Oreilly.com's administrative interface, shows a detailled list-- including passwords -- of Bill Oreilly.com subscribers.

Although Wikileaks has only released one page, it must be assumed that Bill O'Reilly's entire subscriber list is, as of now, in the publicdomain.

http://__._/wiki/Conservative_commentator_Bill_O%27Reilly%27s_website_hacked

Two days after someone broke into the email account of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, unknown intruders have hacked the website of conservative commentator Bill O'Reilly and posted personal details of more than 200 of its subscribers.

The breach into BillOreilly.com came as retaliation for remarks O'Reilly made on Fox News condemning the attack on Palin's Yahoo email account, according to Wikileaks, a site that makes it easy for whistleblowers, hackers and anyone else to leak documents.

As proof, Wikileaks posted a screenshot of the BillOreilly.com administrative interface that showed the names, email addresses, passwords, and home town of 20 subscribers of the website. In all, information belonging to 205 subscribers was intercepted, according to Eric Marston, CTO of Nox Solutions, the company that maintained the website.
