Remember, in arguments being made by the fellow you're responding to, wealth equals morality. The more resources you have, the more leniency you should be given for despicable behavior.

So to this mindset, the propagandist corporation feeding a steady stream of lies and distortion to the American people is a morally superior entity than the nameless people poking its website ineffectively.

See my reply to MyBigUnit. Nonsense breeds more nonsense. Nobody will be affected by this one way or the other. It just drives them further away.

billoreilly.com is slowing down quite a bit

Well billoreilly.com... is still up, so are they waiting for more people to complete it or a certain time of night? Maybe when Bill's on air?

Edited to add: Actually yeah noticed the slowdown a little bit.

Thank you for demonstrating my point. You have to resort to rationalization to even argue this as being reasonable behavior.

You pretend to care, but do you really? Any cost to a company is passed on directly to the consumer whether poor or not. Everything you buy, including food and other necessities, includes the cost of defending against these Cyber-Punks.

Are you nuts ? They get payed per click/view.. There gonna make a TON off this ..
Atleast at this point . They are sure to be ahead.. It will take hours of downtime to counter the money they have made in the past hour!

I don't know what's going to happen now. Noone on 4chan has any idea how to use IRC's and no one can get a single huge attack. It's just small amounts of people ddos'ing with little to no effect.

Anyone who supports criminals and criminal behavior, even if its in words only, are themselves criminals by definition.

Just curious, if and when Bush is ever found guilty of war crimes or crimes of any other type, would supporters of his also be found to be criminals?

Actually, I'm not arguing that this is reasonable behavior. I'm arguing that sometimes unreasonable behavior is needed. Hell, I don't agree with Anonymous' efforts here - I'm an advocate of boycotting the sponsors of fox news programs, myself, which in my opinion is both more effective and more reasonable (though according to some here, that sort of denial of revenue is "terrorism")

I'm not too worried about your economic argument. Remember what you said of protests entailing sacrifices? I don't mind bearing some auxillary costs it it tweaks the nose of the misinformation moguls.

Every time a large number of people go to a website at the same time it affects the server. Like when someone gets slashdotted then sometimes the server can't handle it and barfs. Same as DDOS. If someone posts that an attack is going to happen on a website, what happens? We all hit the server looking to see if it is down... we are direct contributors to the attack. We ARE anonymous - all of us. Too much drama for me.

I really don't know what to say. I'm would say I'm surprised that this topic has so many replies already, but I'm really not. ATS isn't used to this type of thing, but I've seen this so many times already that I didn't care about it until I saw the overreactions in this topic.

4chan has done this to radio programs, online games, forums, and other places before, and nobody from what I remember, nobody here on ATS gave a crap, yet when they attack FOX News, people are saying they should all be jailed? Come on, if you're going to attack the hackers and DDoSers, attack them for everything they've done, don't just be all "lol FOX". FOX News is just a passing fad and will be forgotten about in a week or two if FOX lets it go.

Sorry... I'm not knocking on 'Anonymous' lol. But for people who can hack and whatnot. Not having 'any idea how to use IRC's' is a little off track no?

Thats just what I was thinking. From now on whenever someone mentions "Anonymous" like they're worth anything at all I only to be able to remember that IRC escapes them as too complex.

Foxnews is barely slowing, Bill O'Reilly's site seems noticably slowed.

I would doubt there are many people attacking, because there seems to be no effect.... or Fox just ramped up their hosting capabilities to prepare for this.

Yet another person makes my point for me. What good did they do? Any at all?

You don't really believe that these are not the exact same people who think its funny to shut down businesses. They are in fact the exact same people. People who make a difference in this world are not sitting in their parents basement, living off mommy and daddy while sharpening their hacking skills. They are not hanging out on boards where hardcore porn is posted in a way that makes it easy for children to come in and look around.

These people turn the very people you want to pay attention into enemies who could give a crap less what they have to say.

Change come from within. Want to change the Government? You have to become a part of its leadership. Want to change how Big Business operates? You have to work your way up to an Executive level in it. Its not rocket science.

That's because Anonymous isn't what you guys think it is. Anonymous is nothing more than a mere message board. Anonymous stems out of the /b/ or 'Random' forum which all they do is post pictures of porn, dead people, and just basically any picture you could ever think of. These people aren't geniouses. They just sit around all day going "LULZ" "rick rolld" and "DIE"

They aren't some sophisticated group of hackers. Just a bunch of nerds with a LOT of time on their hands.

until Anonymous does anything worthwhile other than draw attention to its targets, i won't be too impressed and probably consider them a self-made boogeyman, along the same concept as Al Qaeda... who's to say the corporations cant create these 'threats' themselves; in the end they get the money for the pay-per-click revenue, and they get to destroy their rivals who they attribute Anonymous as working for/with.
Then again, i only heard of these guys last week with that max headroom style vid which i thought was pretty effin cool lookin, and a little uneasing for its hypnotizing effects..

I know you don't. I've seen many of your posts. I probably went a bit overboard. You mean well.

I've had numerous attempts by hackers on my computers and there is not even anything on them worth hacking. It makes me touchy. My important data is so well secured its inaccessible anyway. Still it pisses me off I have to put up with these criminals.
