Has anyone noticed this link concerning the 1959 Open Beaches Act? Looks like the Texas government can take peoples' homes if they fall in the "public property" area of the beach.
Looks like Ike has possibly caused that to happen.

Could this account for part of the media blackout enforced for the last week in order for TPTB to figure out how many homes they will be able to take without reimbursing the owners?

While I agree it's probably not smart to build too close to the water, people shouldn't necessarily be held accountable for natural disasters. If you take their house, they should at least be offered compensation for it.

that sucks big time ...if i was in that posistion id burn my house down then collect the insurnce check and move
