georgiandaily.com...

he Russo-Georgian war continues to resonate, and it is time to expand our view of it. The primary players in Georgia, apart from the Georgians, were the Russians and Americans.

On the margins were the Europeans, providing advice and admonitions but carrying little weight. Another player, carrying out a murkier role, was Israel. Israeli advisers were present in Georgia alongside American advisers, and Israeli businessmen were doing business there. The Israelis had a degree of influence but were minor players compared to the Americans.

More interesting, perhaps, was the decision, publicly announced by the Israelis, to end weapons sales to Georgia the week before the Georgians attacked South Ossetia. Clearly the Israelis knew what was coming and wanted no part of it. Afterward, unlike the Americans, the Israelis did everything they could to placate the Russians, including having Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert travel to Moscow to offer reassurances. Whatever the Israelis were doing in Georgia, they did not want a confrontation with the Russians.

Wow this throws that whole we dont sponsor terrorist out the window. Iran has been yelling for years that they dont support terrorist in palistine and iraq i guess this proves other wise. I think that they should go straight to United nations Nations its against international law and would make it difficult for any country to support them.

Palestine can't very well coordinate a "devastating response" if they're also in a giant pile of rubble now, can they? I'm amused at the idea that an attack by Israel on Iran wouldn't also include a full scale blitz of Palestinian occupied territories. Hell, what does Israel have to lose? They already realize that they international community is going to come down on them hard if they hit Iran in anything other than a retaliatory attack (assuming Iran started hostilities rather than Israel hitting Iran preemptively.) Iran, Palestine, Lebanon, probably Syria... all struck simultaneously by Israel.

If the Israelli military strategy has shown us anything, it's that overreacting to any attack against yourself by using a hand grenade to kill a housefly is a very effective way to keep your own people and land relatively safe. You notice Israel rarely gets attacked when they are on full offensive... it's when they sit back and take a rest from shelling Palestinian terrorist hideouts that they suddenly get a couple of RPGs shot over the wall, into Kosher Delis or some kid waltzes into a pizza joint with 10 lbs of acetone peroxide strapped to his chest and blows the place to hell. I sincerely doubt they'd forget this lesson and leave any open doors for a retalliatory attack from any of Iran's allies along their borders.

I agree. I am just wondering why I don't hear on the national news about that georgia war is it over??

the last I heard of it was Russians pulls out.

I am wondering why the media is not really covering it if the conflict is still there I mean it doesn't matter if there is a war or a battle ground or not they should still cover any kind of conflict that erupts with that situation over at Georgia.

Ron paul questioned why we are giving alot of money that we don't have to aid Georgia.

So I just hope we don't have a war with Iran we Americans don't need another war to fund.

Just for my own sanity, didn't your original thread topic pertain to Iran promising a devastating response to any Israeli attack and involve the Iranians supplying Palestine with the means to attack Israel?
