Secret Service Order Police To Block McCain Protesters

rawstory.com

When John McCain and Sarah Palin spoke before an audience of 7,000 in the economically depressed city of Youngstown, Ohio on Tuesday, slightly over a dozen protesters stood across the street with signs saying "The fundamentals of my economy are not strong" and "Country club first."

Leaders of the protest, which had been arranged and publicized by local unions and the Ohio Democratic Party, said that as many as several hundred people had been expected to attend, but police were not letting them through roadblocks surrounding the area.

Ahh, the ever-recurring theme of 1st Amendment obliteration repeats itself during this farcical "electoral" season of Elitist chosen puppets.

Now the SS is commanding the cops to "blockade" off the streets around the campaign events, basically allowing no voices of dissent or disagreement to be heard.

But look at the bright side, at least this time they didn't lock this group in their "free speech cages"! lol

Trumbull County Sheriff Tom Altiere said that his deputies were just following orders from the Secret Service to only allow through those with tickets for the McCain event.

LOL, so that now includes blockading the streets off for blocks around campaign events? I can see them placing agents and cops on every block monitoring, but not allowing folks anywhere near the event to exersize their first amendment rights? It is the same recurring theme we keep seeing over and over during this electoral season, and that is the crushing of any type of dissent among the populace.

So, every time some VIP decides to leave one of their countless houses....and dwell amongst the commoners.....we should all just stay in our homes (provided they haven't already been foreclosed)?????

I was a student at New Mexico State University during the '96 election campaign when Bill Clinton came to the university for a campaign event. The Secret Service & Las Cruces & campus police shut down the whole campus several hours before he was scheduled. We could not even use the computer labs two blocks over from the site where they had his little dog & pony show set up. Snipers were on rooftops, all students & professors were ordered to leave the classrooms, buildings, & portion of campus not associated with the dorms. Stragglers were escorted away and, if you were one of the unlucky saps who didn't know what was going on and had parked in one of the inner parking lots, your vehicle was towed and impounded starting 2 hours before his arrival.

This is not a new thing nor is it a partisan issue. The Secret Service doesn't dick around nor do they care about claims of free speech violation (or public, tax payer funded lands & the rights of access to said lands by tax payers, for that matter.)

I am in 100% agreement that this has nothing to do with partisan politics. This is the type of IMBALANCE that has occurred over the past several successive electoral circuses, that imbalance being where the supposed "leaders" that are supposed to be "by" and "of" the people who vote for them are treated more like gods and royalty whom the very populace they are supposed to "represent" have no ability to interact / agree / disagree with. I do feel this has gotten more out of hand with each successive electoral term though...

It is getting so bad, everything, has become so very surreal. Really setting the stage for hows things are gonna be or else.

No freespeech, no right to assemble in a peaceful manner. My greatest fear is that the youger generations will assume that this is how it has always been.

At one time you could gather to oppose the wrong doings in our Country, now it is a crime. How do we expect to create change in a no tollerance zone?

"You are either with us or you are a terrorist", GWB.
Who wants to be a terrorist when nothing you can say or do will make any difference.

Its one thing to close a campus, and its another what we're seeing now.

Sure, due to the state of this country due to Georges BS and crap, due to his sinking this country and the world into the dark ages, they have to be more careful.

People are silently seeing whats all around, but i expect somebody(s) will come out and....want to settle the score, you know?

THEY know there is danger ahead. In a way i cant say i blame them for trying to protect politicos more than ever....I sure hope nobody makes any crazy attempt, because we will ALL have to pay dearly for it.

Let there be peace. Let there be a new president with WISDOM to run our beautiful country, and do their duty according to the US Constitution.

Yeah, I don't think these people understand how the world works

They'd rather give people the opportunity to kill the candidates so we'd be stuck with Bush again!

Beg differ.....

The point is, the SS does NOT work for Ticketmaster. They also have no right to stop tax paying citizens on a public street who might I add are NOT a threat just by protesting. They know the dangers when they apply for the job.

Did you think before you typed that?

They don't work for Ticketmaster?

Are you F'ing kidding me? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA.

This guy thinks the point of the ordeal is that the SECRET SERVICE does not work for TICKETMASTER!!!!

You definitely need to research what the Secret Service does because you obviously have no clue whatsoever.

Unfortunately times are changing people dont do peaceful protests any more. Welcome to the new world of terrorism. Did you realize that there has all ready been death threats to Obama and Mccain so if Im the secret service its only smart to only allow people near them that you have all ready checked. If you think you can get near them without having a background check your crazy. Every event is screened before the candidates arrive. Any body not prescreened is kept far away.
