I would go here and live like humans were meant to. All of out technology, big governments, and banks are supposed to keep us safe, but something tells they are all going to bring us crashing down. I think the Native Americans had it right until we slaughtered them all.

i'll stay here in a small big town in Washington state. Native Americans lived here okay here before whites.

if you aren't invested in the stock market and you can make your house payment, why would you leave? where would be better?

am third generation Washingtonian

the winters here are gray and wet and cold. will everything fall apart? like the gas company? the light company? the grocery store? the local bus system?

na. did people move all over during the Great Depression? only because of the dust bowl. i guess we could have that again?

I would just stay at home.

I have been to many foriegn countries and I just feel that I am here and I will help turn the tide to make the American dream and uphold the constitution a reality.

I do not have any gun and some very dull kitchen knives, and small stash of food, very little cash. And I have a child. ... a single mom.... so I cannot go out running around without a plan.

I think those running wild will be gathered up to fill those lovely new reeducation/concentraion camps they have all over our country. Someone wants my food...take it.... who cares? hope you like beans!

I think large cities will see the worst of human behaviour for they live like rats do anyway, plan for nothing, eat daily and tomorrow will not be any concern. America lost all sense of community and that is a greater loss than any depression or martial law. When people can live next door to someone and not even know their names for years, that is insanity. To call the police because your next door nieghbors dog is barking is ignorant. Go next door and sit down, have a beer and talk about it!

America has grown cold, rude, selffish, mean, judgemental, nasty, bashes anything, and whines about everything. We are not the land of the free but the land of the Whinners! Government has to do this and that for us or we will cry like babies.

Fine mess that got us in to. A government so large that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. So large they hired a mercenary company Blackwater to murder us all.

Call me old fashion but I believe we have to clean up this mess, first be not being so selffish and help others.

So this thread is about individuals saving their ass-ets, and nothing mentioned about others.

We lost community long ago. I think it left in the 70's after all those hippies had to go to work. They used to be a huge community of strangers accepting everyone and sharing everything.... they had it right for a time... and that would still be a great solution should it get rough for a time here.

So for me I am staying put. I do not run at a bit of trouble! I have fought many and will still fight many more! I love my country and a few hard times is not making me run!

That is very true... the sense of community has been lost. divide and conquer was the plan.. and it has worked. The reality is most people in cities will panic.. and probably resort to criminal activities in order to sustain themselves.. they will not get together. I would love to go to the country..

OK so I guess I'm a little late to post on this one, but I figure that if everyone is running off to the woods and country, then there'll be lots of available real estate in the suburbs and cities. I've always wanted an apartment overlooking Central Park.

Seriously though - SOMEONE is going to be in charge soon enough in any kind of meltdown situation (maybe not nationally but at least locally), and the best place to be will probably be working for whoever that is.

Ok no need to get technical. I didn't mean we literally killed them all, but we did steal their land and wiped out 80% of their population. Genocide anyway you look at it.

I tend to think that I'd try to rally people and start over in smaller communities. If everyone works together it wouldn't have to be a horrible experience. We'd rebuild anyways. Get back to living a hard, yet productive life and honest living. Yeah, I think that in some areas it would get pretty crazy, but all in all, that wouldn't last long. I doubt that bands of thugs would leave their areas of influence if they were surviving well enough in the areas that they've taken over. These bands would self destruct anyways in time, I'd hope. Unless the groups were just huge, then I don't see that any band of raiders would survive too many altercations with other groups before losing too many members or leaders to sustain control of the whole. This isn't TV.

As long as you get through the first couple of months, I think things would start to level out a bit. If anything, depending on the situation, I'd worry about the first couple of nights of rioting and looting. Then about 2 or 3 weeks later, things would get bad again because most people only have about that much food in their houses. I imagine that most people will try to "hole-up" until those food reserves run out. Then they'll leave in search of food. Then they'll get desperate. If you can wait a little longer, a lot of people will simply starve to death, sadly, and you can begin to come out of hiding if everything is all quiet in your area.

Then again, I could be wrong!

I would stay put. I am not leaving a area I know. By that I mean all of west and cent TX. I can survive just fine here. I know the weather, where to find water, and hunting cabins. Other than that...I would first raid a pharmacy for long term meds I might need. Already have enough gear, guns and ammo for a lifetime or more.

I am going to stay home. Unless they say "stay in your home, don't panic".

Ill disappear into the country, with my bug out pack I can make it to my hide area 60 miles east of here. After that Ill construct a plan for getting to South East Asia and doing what I do best living in the jungle, building a small home on my plot of land. TOO EASY.. Unless I see that Americans decide to stand up against some kind of odd involvement with the government in which case Ill come out of retirement for the last time and do what I can to help restore the USA.

Whatever "Involvment" means..

Well, I'd invite you all to Australia, but if you've seen how we treat refugees, you might think twice!

Economic refugees from the US... Now that's an odd thought indeed.

Does anybody know where I can go? Would a fellow ATS member have an extra bedroom in the middle of nowhere?

I need it to be within driving distance of San Diego.

and yes I'm serious.
