Ok, so there was a bit of buzz a month or so ago about “Obama Calls For National Civilian Stasi“, and currently people are reacting to notions that he supports a military draft (both seemingly disconnected in online discourse I’ve seen so far). But in reviewing his prior statements I’ve spotted one thing noteworthy I hadn’t thought much about before:

“We will ask Americans to serve,” the Illinois Democrat said. “We will create new opportunities for Americans to serve.”

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set,” he said Wednesday. “We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.-Chicago Tribune

So even if his notion of all children from middle to high school serving in a would-be “National Security Force” is valid to people out there, let’s talk about the digits he’s referring to… The ‘Military’ Budget.

Alright, according to posting rules I cant post my entire writeup on this matter, so you'll need to reference my blog post to get all the different numbers and links and so forth.

Suffice to say that even 'conservative' 2008 military spending tops $600 BILLION, so Obama's pipedream of a child-based "National Security Force" is absurd at best, and the greatest nightmare in US history at worst.

I realize you want to discuss expense, but this is even the first I've ever heard of this quote:

"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set," he said Wednesday. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

He said he would make federal assistance conditional on school districts establishing service programs and set the goal of 50 hours of service a year for middle school and high school students.

For college students, Obama would set the goal at 100 hours of service a year and create a $4,000 annual tax credit for college students tied to that level of service.

Is he kidding????

I've heard about the community service part before, but what would people be doing in any sort of community service that the military would ever be doing domestically? This makes no sense.

What's more, what would children be doing (besides spying on their neighbors, parents, etc)?

No it doesn't.

I need to go look this up. What is he thinking? Has anyone asked him?

I'm stunned this hasn't received more attention.

Ok, I just reread the article and everything he says is cohesive up until the point where he says that

"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set," he said Wednesday. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

How does community service improve national security? It improves lots of things but there is no way security could be construed as one of them.

What's more, the article says that he wants to increase the size of the military, and then match its budget with the budget for this civilian security volunteer thing. Seriously, guys, a 1.2 BILLION dollar budget for these two expenditures alone, and he wants to socialize healthcare as well. Where in the crap is this money going to come from? You can't squeeze blood from a freaking stone. We're already effing broke!!

This is tied into his Public Allies organization.
Obama was a founding member and his wife is currently the head of a huge wing of it.
You do 100 hrs community service and attend reeducation camps at a young age where at the end you get certification. This entitles you to your college education money.
Where the national security force that takes the place of the millitary at home comes from is anyones guess.
Civil service is a stated goal for Public Allies and they frown upon anyone joining corporate america, this is stated on their website. Their definition of civil service is far different from the Peace Corps though. Their's is teaching racial inequality and professional careers in public demonstration. That is as far as they can go at this point. With an armed wing given to them by Obama they could be capable of anything.

If the only thing you take out of this is this,
Obama has a child go through public education
He inserts a new education phase in between high school and college. It is required to get the government college funding.
He pays you a living wage during this new phase of $1800 a month so you can participate.
He then encourages you to join civil service, either straight away or after college.
For the non college goer after high school, this equates to a public welfare program. Get a living wage for learning to be an activist demonstrator. That is all his program encourages you to do with your life since you will not go college or enter corporate america.
Apparently there is a civillian millitary force one can join as an option after completing his bootcamp also. A bunch of kids who were just taught Marxist Socialist idealism given uniforms and sidearms is the image conjured up, not suprisingly the media won't touch this subject because it obviously will cost him votes.

I just cannot figure out what citizen national security force is supposed to mean... Also can't figure out how that and volunteering in the community are even remotely similar.. And he wants to make you do this before you can go to college and not provide funding to middle/high schools if they don't require it? Am I reading that part wrong or is that really what the article says? And this comes from the potential new president?

Edit: My posting here probably just killed the thread, and if so I apologize! I seem to kill threads faster than I can type sometimes..

Someone should tell Obama we already have a civillian "security force". Last time I checked, that's what the 2nd amendment is. Or at a state level, thats what a militia does. You see, everyone in this country can be involved on local levels, that way everyone knows more of thier fellow citizens. Not to mention the fact more people would actually know whats going on at a city level. Towns used to have public arms, so people could stash thier guns at a city facility and get them out when needed(for those people who don't want thier guns at home for some reason).

What an insane waste of money, I know, lets save some money and just go by the darn Constitution. A rifle is a few hundred dollars, there is no excuse to not own one if you belive in what the constitution says. The farther from how this country was ment to run, the closer to what Obama proposes we become.

He is treading on some very dangerous territory here. This is one of the things that happened in Germany especially near the end of WWII. First Hitler made sure every child had to go to a public school to make sure they were able to get brain washed properly.

Hitler started in elementary. Obama is suggesting to start with a special program in middle school to brainwash our kids.

When needed, Hitler started to put the youth in his army. It got to the point where he ran out of men, so boys younger and younger were enlisted to help in the war in any which way they can.

We already have a national security force called the police. I have a bad feeling it will be more like training kids to rat out on anybody and everybody whom they think could be a domestic terrorist like in George Orwells book "1984". Mom and dad have a domestic fight, the kid rats out on the parents. Either one or both go to a "retraining" camp. Don't watch what you say, and the kid behind you will report you. In Orwells book, it got so bad that the kids would report someone for just looking differently. They ratted out on their dad, because he supposedly said something in his sleep.

In the book, there was no form a discipline the parents could use on their kids either. They were able to run wild and talk back to their parents. The parents couldn't say one word. The kids held their parents hostage with the fear of being reported.

Another nail in the coffin. I don't like either Obama or McCain. Ron Paul isn't running. I won't be voting this year, since there is no one to vote for.

The police are NOT a national security force, they are paid only to enforce law. While a cop, if nearby, may protect you, there are simply more people than cops. They cant do anything they are not already doing. YOU must protect the country side by side with us all.

And, please vote, wright in who you think can help the country out...even if its mickey mouse, dont waste the vote on actually electing in the corupt bastards that are running.

There are lots of good threads that go without any attention. But this thread is so important it should really be blowing up. This statement made by Barack Obama could have very quick, very real, very scary consequences if he becomes President.

Why is no one interested in an actual quote that without a doubt proves the kind of vision this man has for America? Is it the lack of Reptilian content or partisan cheerleading? Is it that no one wants to know how close we are to living in a version of 1984 (for real this time)?

This thread should be plastered all over the front page in size 72 font. All you viewers, even if you don't have anything to add, flag for all you're worth.

I think I posted it in the wrong forums for any real exposure. I think this forum pans out as too level headed for the bulk to browse. First time posting in this area since they moved the Above Poiltics site over to here.

I'm telling you. I just don't get it at all. :shk:

He's basically saying he wants to develop something similar to a Hitler Youth organization....and barely any interest from the membership of a CONSPIRACY site.

I swear, Obama must have some serious mojo.

Actually I think the quote is a couple months old now maybe. I first notcied it via I had to re-review it in light of that 'draft' jingoism yesterday, and thats when I thought much further into every word.

But still I'm sure this one has had an easy time being quickly ignored by his obsessors.

I know what you mean. I made a thread in NWO about his global poverty Act socialist initiative and got like 4 replies. Then 6 months later someone posts the same thing in Breaking News and it blows up. I'm surprised the Obama Haters aren't even in here stirring the pot, though.

loam, yes, it is VERY surprising that the members of a conspiracy site have no interest in a modern American Hitler Youth. Jesus Christ the whole thing gives me chills. But the silence about the matter is even more chilling.

But what else can we do to bring this to people's attention? U2U it to all our friends? LOL I'd hate to have to become that person.

I started a thread on this a while ago and it was moved to the dustbin of political conspiracies never to be seen again. If you thought this section was slow go over there.

I referenced to the story on Investors Business Daily in that thread.

Unless he is talking about a new branch of blackwater
he is either talking about financing in big scale the group that he was part of it in ACORN.

I will not give it to much attention as this planned budget will required congress approval and in the state our economy is right now, congress is too busy bailing out corporate America right now to even take time to Obama pet project if he becomes president.

I think this nothing more than political babbling.

It sounds a lot like the Hitler youth or any other youth movement started by infamous dictators.

As for paying for it? Ha the government is busy paying for the bailouts of Fannie and Freddie (who happened to contribute a great deal to Obama) among other things.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I took it as meaning "community service" similar to student work programs now for financial aid only stronger. I think why it is important to national security is that in history we see things like bread riots that end up causing a country to fall into massive decay...I don't know if you have spent much time driving around the country and into some parts of various cities, but we have a lot of work to do. We have overcrowded jails filled with drug addicts and untreated mentally ill. We have a growing homeless problem. We have increasing child poverty and hunger. We have more and more people loosing their health care. We have outsourced jobs and folks having to take jobs with minimal pay and are barely able to get by.

All of this is conceivably a threat to our national security because the decay in society and the symptoms of it's illness (drug / alchohol abuse, some of the criminal behavior and extreme poverty issues etc...), means we are teetering on the brink of the breaking point as history has shown in other cultures...I thought it made sense, but perhaps was a bit grandiose. Also it might detract from altruistic motivation which needs to be promoted...but I didn't at all think it was anything like a military...I think what he was saying when he tried to compare it with military funding, was that he was for the idea of making it a large program to help with community problems nation wide in exchange for education funding. I'm not sure how one would interpret that to mean a military like force that spys on folks...I didn't hear that at all but maybe I missed something?

I don't see what harm it could do in terms of having high school aged kids do 50 hours of community service a year...I mean if anything it might mean they begin to take some pride in the community and stop vandalism and some of the bad behaviors associated with not having any responsibilities after school / too much free time to get into mischief etc (in Japaneese schools the children take about 15 min's out of the day and actually do a good deal of the cleaning up and janitorial work, and as a result the kids take more pride in public property and it encourages community cohesiveness and mutual respect whereas here if you asked the kids to pick up trash and clean up they would revolt and many of the parents would raise hell)...but I also think that if someone has an after school job to help pay for family expenses then they should be exempt from that in the interest of promoting time to study. Same with college perhaps?
