The paper suggested that by attacking South Ossetia, the Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili had badly damaged a planned U.S. military operation against Iran. In the newspaper's opinion Georgia was supposed to play the role of another "unsinkable aircraft carrier" ...

I don't think it's off the table, but this may just be more anti-american propaganda

I am beginning a devise study paper of the Cold War, and I am recalling certain events leading directly after WWII that caused the 'beginning' of the Cold War. Most know it, that Churchill, FDR, and Stalin meet during the Yalta Conference in 1945. This was to divide up Nazi Germany's territory and the Allies conquered territory, and to establish governments there. Stalin's view was complete authoritarian view as part of the USSR, the Allies was significantly different.

The USSR subsequently took all of East Europe and Cacaus under their wing as their own. It took years for them to establish this. This might be happening right now, especially with all the American Govt. propaganda, (I'm taking a pych. class in advertising right now, very good stuff), and the Russian News. This might be the start of Cold War: Part II.

Wonderful resource for the news - IF you want a one sided view lol! Don't let credibility get in the way
! When you stop by "Russia Today", don't forget to look at their other news stories. I especially liked this little tid bit:
"Expert: Al Qaeda is in league with U.S. against Iran"
Now that is a gem lol!

Is this what they are saying because they have been WRONG for 2-3 years now? Wow.

The Russian political machine is just trying to pull the wool over the people's eyes in Russia.

This is just some of the old "Cold War" tactics being played out now. After all Putin was/is KGB.

Roper

BTW Ain't going to happen.

Just so you know for your study - the Caucasus was part of USSR before WW2, and WW2 has nothing to do with this. Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia became part of USSR during the revolution and the resulting Civil War in the Russian Empire.

Again - Caucasus has nothing to do with what you are saying.

How so? If it truly was "happening" now, why didn't Russia take Tbilisi and occupy all of Georgia - at one point of the recent conflict (August 10-11) it could have done that very easily and quickly.
