Shark alert issued for Hawaii

starbulletin.com

A day after a shark attacked a surfer on Oahu, the state is warning people across Hawaii to be cautious when entering the ocean because of an apparent increase in sharks swimming in shallow waters.

The alert came after a shark bit the leg of 40-year-old Todd Murashige on Tuesday while he surfed a break off Kaaawa. He was listed in stable condition yesterday at the Queen's Medical Center.

For some reason when I read this the first thing that popped in my head was the recent earthquake activity in Indonesia and Japan. Reports have shown that animals have a sensitivity towards natural disasters. Could the sharks have sensed danger in the South Pacific and headed East?

My shark friend says the food shortages are hitting them hard too...

He also says:

"My man says life ain't easy, when a shark gottta eat that when # get greezy,
The ocean be like feed me, feed me,
when a shark gottta eat that when # get greezy"

I tend to remember spates of shark attacks near Hawai'i for many decades. Sometimes, a coinidence is just a coincidence.

But I'm gonna keep looking under every rock I find, in case there's a shark lurking.
