The new anti-americanism

From its core areas in europe and middle east the anti-americanism has spread to the rest of the world and it has increased most among old allies. It doesnt just condemn specific politics and those who lead, but the nation and american show of force in general, and fears USA's total and global hegemony.

"American conditions" has become a codeword for a development in society noone wants.

A new generation of future international leaders is about to grow up without memories of USA as a believable ally and that neither sees the country as a symbol of freedom or a liberal state.

Antiamericanism is bubbling with hostility and dislike not just against what USA does, but what it is. It is full of dark mistrust of USA's motives both when they act and dont act.

It accuses the country of hypocracy and to not live up to its own principles. Or the accusations are directed at the inner conditions in the american society:

*social and economic differences
*lack of welfare goods
*mentality of violence
*lacking weapon control
*brutal prisons
*death sentance
*bigotted religiousnes
*anti-scientific creationism

It might take more then a moodwave to change the worlds' view on USA, but maybe the surprisingly and overwhelmingly outbreak of "obamania" says something about how under the new anti-americanism and the years under the Bush-regime, lives a hunger for another America? More open and in pact with its own liberal legacy.

Unscientific creationism? How about too cruel cold scientific logic, which views everything as a random accident, and therefore expendable? Look how we treat lab rats and other animals! If anything, both science AND religion AND blind patriotism have turned us all into zombified insignificant victims of circumstance.

I agree with most of the other stuff in your thread... just that one part needs clarification, because science has bred much tyranny in this country as well.

Science is how stuff works... It is knowledge of things, good and bad depending on how its used. If we need something to avert a crisis, to for example save the world from an asteroid, then most people think its worth to research it, even if it kills a few rats in the process. But it is a risk if the thing we made can be used in warfare and damage us just like the asteroid.

Random accident? Are you talking about the scientific creation of the universe?
