I love how up-to-date you are! In health care alone we are 47th in the world. Our education system is worse. Have you paid ANY attention to the truth about our standing in the world? It doesn't seem so. By all measures used world wide for quality of life Norway Finland and the Scandanavian Isles are the best place to live. Sorry you missed the news but my US, which I dearly love is ranked behind almost the entire 1st world in pretty much everything. We have more crime, murders, teen mothers, STD's, lower education, worse health, lower ability to move up in the stature, you name it most of the educated world beats us at all these except of course Religion and guns. We've got the most of them. Oh yeah, we're doing GREAT. Wake Up and smell the coffee!!

I read most of the posts, and the reasons people give for not liking America are all BS.
The people that don't like America are just resentful of America's wealth and power. All the reasons I have see here, for not liking America, apply to almost every country in the world.

I saw some posts from Australia saying it's American foreign policy, it's the environment, blablabla...
America is just more recognizable, on the world stage, that's all. Australia, just to give an example, is hated in it's backyard, it's just less visible. Australia has invaded as many countries as the USA, Australians, on a per capita basis, pollute as much as Americans...

Basically, people hate, or dislike, the USA, for one reason only...envy!!!

Every major power has to carry that burden. Britain was hated when it was a super power, so was Spain, Germany, Russia...

I won't even travel to America, that is how scared I am of their Gestapos the HSD. I don't want to disappear and be tortured for the rest of my life by psychotic American soldiers handpicked for the job. Bush authorized via John Yoo the torture-rape and mutilation of children's genitalia as a method of 'Advanced Interrogation" in front of their parents - so as to better 'persuade' the to reveal pertinent Data. It is so sick. This Truth is more horrible than anything.

I don't want to go to any country that does that. It could happen to anyone, and no one would ever know. People would just think I went missing. Nazi Germany didn't even have the courage to advertise their Evil the way NeoCon America does.

I was born in 1936 and I am from Canada. Americans are not what they once were, and that is a damn shame...and their loss is not our gain. It is our Loss.

Hi there, just so you know where my point of view is coming from I am an Australian living in Sydney, who has traveled to Western Europe (UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain), SE Asia, all through Japan, Beijing and NY, Los Angeles and New Orleans.

No it doesn't at all, although the standards are quite high of course. But one thing that concerns me is the obesity rate which is prevalent in Western Nations. The US is known to be a nation of fatties who are one Big Mac away from having a heart attack. It is bad over here as well and England, and I assume Canada has an obesity epidemic also. In Japan you don't see fat people at all, unless they are Sumo wrestlers.
Cancer rates are low in Japan also.

My father was murdered by the US funded IRA in the Birmingham pub bombings, the US funded and armed them knowing that their targets were primarily innocent people going about their day, of a so called allied country.
They have been the biggest funders of terrorism going this past 50+ years, they arm war torn countrys so the blood shed and genocide can continue.
War on terror, dont make me laugh, just stop arming, funding and training them, there job done, no need to go invading, killing thousans of inocent people while bombing the # out of their countrys whether they had anything to do with it or not.

I find it interesting that for every post that says "We don't hate America's people, we hate the American government," there is another poster saying "We hate Americans because they're rude/ignorant/stupid/fat/greedy/lazy/etc."

Well, which is it? Do you hate us, or our government? If you hate our government, welcome to the club. Most of us don't like it either. You are a friend. You'll get nothing but respect from me.

On the other hand... Some of you do, in fact, hate us as people. Some of you will claim you hate our government, but it's not that hard to tell which camp you're really in. And if you hate us, the people, then you can go take a long walk off a short pier. I'm not going to bicker about whether or not your hate is justified. I'm just going to give you the one finger salute and go find somebody who matters to spend my time with.

And to give an example of the kind of attitude I'm addressing with that last paragraph: Some "person" back on page 3 or so even said one reason he hates Americans is because we put food coloring in our cheese. Seriously? Fine, fair enough I guess. There's no food coloring on that pier I was talking about. Start walking, girlfriend. SALUTE!

I've been on holidays with Americans on the Same Tour.
You can always Pick the Yanks, they are always the Loudest, Fattest,
most annoying and never shut up until they pass out from drinking.
Always criticizing everything and saying how good the USofA, is even more annoying.

My Favorite line from Moovies, is "You can't do that, I'm an American".
It's like they are expecting special treatment just because they were
born in USofA. But to actually hear this while on Holiday is a real hoot.
Never heard "You can't do that, I'm British".

I dont hate America, to hate America is to hate everybody that lives there, thats stereotyping, i think, borderlining racism.

I hate your Government, but having said that I hate my (UK) Goverment. I don't like the Americans who are full of themselves because they are American (we are the greatest nation, la la la), patriotism is a good thing, but i will say Americans are most likely to push that, its wrong, to quote Queen, "one world, one nation", we need that one vision, we are all human at the end of the day.

I am in a league on a game site called pogo, and a good majority of its members are American, and I love them to bits, they are great people, they don't rub America in my nose, they are just people, and thats great.

At the end of the day, if there is other life in this universe, take the Star Trek approach (not a trekkie!), we are humans, we are not Americans, British, Frogs...sorry....French, Spanish etc etc, we are human, one race with many cultures.

Hell yeah man!,I always love a legal fiction that uses it's legal status over me to force me to live my life in a certain way.I love being told how much money I will make regardless of how hard I work,being penalised for my hard work in the form of income taxes,fearing for my well being because I may be wearing clothes similar to the clothes worn by someone else who was seen committing a crime a county away.
I love being fed into a legal system that is not so much a mystery to me,but will not recognize me in court unless I hire an attorney I cannot afford,and forces me into a plea bargain if I am too poor to hire a high priced lawyer,forcing me to admit to a crime I did not commit in order to avoid prison,and milking what money it can out of me in the process.....
Here in america,most people live in fear of their government without even realising it,they live in pollution and are surrounded by all manner of wierdness,...crackheads,methheads,gangbangers...they are everywhere,you would see them if you were not in your car with windows rolled up and stereo blasting,you hide in your car,it is your refuge from reality.

I was born in europe but travelled a great deal .I spent over ten years living the american dream . I saw the best and the worst it had to offer .
I saw extreme self indulgent wealth and grinding poverty the likes of which you do not see in europe because of socialised medicine and the stronger sense of the need to provide ALL citizens with the basic rights of a civilised society .
Its a beautifull country ,the land itself ,the mountains and rivers , away from the sleazy cities like chicago ,eurgh !

But what saddened me most was the realisation that many ,though not all american men in particular are encouraged to behave like spoilt brats . In most countries ego inflation is frowned upon as unhealthy and dangerous .IN america it is positively encouraged .

Greed is still good IN the US and that will be its undoing . You get greed everywhere , but IN the US in particular it justifies just about every facet of americas brutal rutheless foriegn policy .

BUT many americans see this all to well , they know it sucks ,they know its not working .
Your country was founded by religious extremists who still practice thanksgiving so they can expiate their guilt ovet the genocide of native americans . The theft of THEIR LAND .
I was always disgusted by the way native americans are treated by White america . There is so much hypocrisy in the founding myths of the white mans conquest of the US . You all know it but you very rarely will get a white yank to speak honestly about the atrocties they commited .

denial ,shame ,guilt and insecurity .These are the founding emotions that skew americas view of itself .

An apology to the native americans and black population would be a good place to start if America is ever to set her self right and renew herself.

I guess I`ve looked at what you are saying from all angles and I come to a conclusion. Canada has some very nice people living there, no doubt about that, but, just like the US, you have your share of the hatemongers living there also. And you have proven it to all that read this.
