Keep the emotions in check,
It is very obvious that this topic can be construed a variety of different ways, depending on each of your viewpoints and positions.
Please, Let's keep it civil
Whether the quote was intentional, or bad tiiming, let's not resort to attacking each other over this issue.
There will be PLENTY of MORE IMPORTANT discussions to be had as we close in on November.
I want to see ALL of YOU here throughout this election season, all sides and voices are important.
Consider this a preemptive post.
Now that's what I'm talking about. This does not prohibit free speech but "moderates" the mood. Thankyou.

When do enough "bad judgements" and "gaffes" and stammering answers that are "above my paygrade" start to hurt his campaign? Look at the polls,
he is not on the high ground and the slope is getting very slippery.
Nothing but attacks and poor taste are coming from him, and I do believe McCain's camp demanded an apology for this one.
The next step is the media will abandon ship so they don't go down with it. It is very close to happening. Obama may fail but the MSM must go on.

Well its very obvious that he is referring to Palin and not to women in general, so there is no reason, that I can think of to be offended.

Yes.. it's almost like suicide. Like he's trying to kill his own chances. Maybe no one is trying to help him speak the way he should. But yes, there
is a pattern.

No, it's not political baiting at all. It was a pretty specific analysis of the situation.
If he DID make the comment intentionally it reflects on his character. If not, it reflects on his understanding of how the comment would be taken.
To me it sounds like he's basically calling Palin a pig, and the crowd took it as such.
And I also believe it is an indication that Obama is imploding, and his mantra of change is transforming into a reality of same old politics.
Does it anger you that this is the conclusion I formed? I'm not sure what about this would be political baiting. I wasn't comment on another
poster. I didn't call anybody any names.

done debating with that poster. I find it ridiculous that this has even gotten a few responses defending the OP and attacking obama.
What are you talking about? Because I have an opinion that differs from yours I somehow broke a pact to raise the level of discourse?
I have not made any inflammatory statements, and called anybody names. I reached an honest opinion that is also shared by other people. Concluding
that Obama is sexist doesn't make me a hater of any sort, or mean I am not communicating on a high level.
In fact, I've seen posts in this thread that have resorted to name calling and ad hominem attacks on other members. I never discussed other members,
only the topic of the thread.

i find it amusing that the palin supporters are so quick to apply what obama said as being about palin.
kinda makes you wonder what freud would think about such an association.
i dont know about the US but here colloqueism and metaphors are used quite regularly by politicians in an effort to appear working class or a friend
there of.
when i read the pig quote i thought it applied to the republicans and how their mantra of change is a deceit..
things that make you go hmmm....

Euphemisms get taken out of context only if they are blurted by people on the right.
What do you suppose would happen if McCain/Palin called Obama a knuckle dragger when it comes to taking a stand since it's obvious he consistently
votes "present"?

What you said might make more sense if Palin hadn't used the lipstick comment to describe herself days before.

And, this has now made Fox News on Hannity and Colmes.....Even Mike Huckabee doesn't think this was a swipe at Palin and McCain.
Although, linking the two lipstick remarks does make me think a bit.
Let the games begin!!

Well yeah, there is a reason to be offended if he was referring to Palin.
To help you understand, let me reverse the scenario. If McCain said something like, "Obama is too inexperienced to run the country. You just can't
MONKEY around with national security," he would probably be arrested for committing a hate crime.

Exactly!
Anybody with half a brain knows this was a swipe at Palin. Obama says he is about change. I don't see any thing in him but the same old same
old.
Note: I just want to clarify that I'm not saying that anybody here has only half a brain. No insult was intended and the remark is just a figure of
speech
Edit to include above note.

You Palin supporters are a bunch of hypocrits. McCain must be a sexist too because he used the same context when talking about Hillary Clinton's
healthplan in October 2007.
"I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," he said of her proposal.

So we get a picture but no video of him saying this. Only hearsay on a leftist political blog.
Hmmm.

Nice try but no cigar. I guess the Obama Campaign is in full damage control
McCain criticized Democratic contenders for offering what he called costly universal health-care proposals that require too much government
regulation. While he said he had not studied Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s plan, he said it was “eerily reminiscent” of the failed plan
she offered as first lady in the 1990s.
“I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig,” he said of her proposal.

Personally I wouldn't read to much into it. Yes, Obama was trying to tie Gov. Palin in with the pig comment. It's playground tactics but then this
is politics so what do you expect? He's off his rocker to think that personal insults are going to win the election. What's funny is that just
before this comment he was making some valid points. *Wooosh* That's the sound of his valid argument being flushed out with the thoughtless personal
jab. Now we'll only remember the stupid part of what he said.
Obama without a written script is a true blessing to the Republicans.

It seems like the name-calling on this thread has been one-sided. I would encourage everybody to refrain from talking about other members, and from
calling other members names.
It's not cool.
